Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse Review

What Lakme Claims about Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse:

This mousse to powder formula delivers a feather light finish giving you breathable natural skin. While its weightless formulation hides pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone to leave skin peachy soft all thorough the day. With SPF 8, lasts up to 16 hours.

Shades Available = 3, in Light – Medium – Dark.

Now, this is one “major factor” Lakme must work on.  I don’t know what made them create just 3 shade options, totally unjustified for such a good product.

Anyway, I picked up the shade 01 Ivory Fair.

Lakme Ivory Fair

Price:

INR 550, for 25 gm

Packaging:

CUTE is the word !! The packaging of this mousse is so winsome and has been very artfully done. I found it really appealing in this round, ball-like shape with steel/silver finish lid and grey-coloured lower compartment which holds the product.

Here’s how the mousse looks from inside.

My mom used to get the Lakme Souffle Foundation a few years back and this reminds me of that particular product.

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse:

While, I was checking the products at the Lakme Counter, the SA there insisted me to try this too. I gave him a stern NO as I have a lot of foundations lying unused with me at the moment. Then, I saw the cute-sy packaging and I felt it needs to be checked/tried out at least. I dotted just some product on my wrist and before I could just move my fingers over it to blend it in, it was gone!!!!  This has to be the fastest blending foundation I have come across 😀  I ended up buying this too!!

The mousse has this very interesting formula. When you touch it feels somewhat creamy, umm, also like somewhat slippery, slimey (not in a bad sense ), rubber-ish thing ( reminds me of that Green Flubber which was there in the Robin Williams movie 😛 😀 ).

I just dot it all over my face and this blends into my skin seriously in no time, I guess my face cream takes more time to seep in/blend in compared to this.

It clears out my face on application, so about the coverage, I would say it is definitely light-medium coverage foundation. The mousse is lightweight, does look natural on my skin and is weightless/doesn’t feel heavy at all . The coverage is just slightly more than my tinted moisturiser. This can be a good product for you if you have slight imperfections. This does not provide much coverage to dark spots, so I would suggest you use a concealer over this.

This dries to a matte finish and will make an excellent product for oily-skinned beauties. I have combination skin which is more on the drier side as winters are coming in, so I apply my moisturiser liberally before this. I do notice a few dry patches, but nothing which my La Roche Posay thermal water spray cannot take care of.

I prefer not to set it with a loose powder, as it already dries to matte, powdery finish.  So, I would suggest this product has been created keeping oily skin only in mind.  Dry-skinned beauties should check the liquid foundation in this range. . Also, I have sensitive skin, but I had no issues post using this.

Coming to the “16 hours” claim.  The foundation looked good and fresh on me when I tested it outdoors, for about 3-4 hours only. I also, tested this indoors, inside my house, (@ low temperature because of winters here ) and it stayed well on me for some 5-6 hours. Like, it won’t disappear completely, but the freshness that it gives on first hour of application, isn’t there. So, if you are wearing this and you are outdoors, you will need touch ups.

I have described about the packaging above, so I would skip that here. It is undoubtedly attractive, but I personally, never like jar type packaging, be it skin care or cosmetics.

The major turn off for me about this product is its fragrance, :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized:

Dear Lakme, you have to please do something about this. :announce: :announce: Please give us no or low-fragranced products. We don’t seek any fragrance in our cosmetics.

Okay, the fragrance of the product is not bad in any way, somewhat floral and citrus fragrance I reckon, but it carries a LOT of it.  I remember I left the Lakme Invisible Foundation solely for its fragrance even though I found a perfect match for my skin tone in it.

Apart from the coverage, fragrance (-) points, I would definitely suggest this as a good daily wear foundation for oily-skinned beauties.

  4. Hi Nupur, nice review! u have explained each-n-every thing so clearly n nicely..
anyways wanted to know more about the product ,i have pink undertones…would it suit me ?:) as it looked kind of for yellow skin tones people.
    It looks so attractive!

    1. thanks Srishi 🙂
see, the product has been launched in just 3 shades.. light-medium and dark… i got the liht one which has slight yellow tone, i didnt check d medium/dark one so i cant tell u if that has pink tone… u shud go to the counter n check for urself 🙂

  5. Wow.. Sounds interesting.. Bit this seems to have a yellow undertone no? I have a pinkish undertone! Don’t think it’ll suit me. Sigh,.. But I might buy one just for the packaging.. It’s soo cute.. I’ll just keep it on my dresser and stare at it.. :hypnotized: :hypnotized: :hypnotized:

  6. Only three shades!! That I think is the biggest drawback! I tried it yesterday and all three shades gave weird white caste. not done! 😐 😐

  7. Nuu DA naya foundation…. Yayyyy it looks so pretty… Like that DKNY Apple perfume. :))
I bought that Neutrogena healthy skin foundation and it broke me out so bad :(((
    Nuu check your fb mail

  8. heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy guess what? I bought this on Sunday :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: . The SA at the H&G sold it to me saying it works great as a concealer+foundation. While i like it as a sheer light weight foundation, it works no good as a concealer (atleast for me) since its creamy so it dosent stay put on my oily skin :spank: :spank: . There are other Tinted moistirizers in the market so not completely sure if I wud buy it a second time :woot: but i do love the mousse type texture and will use it till it finishes.

      1. the concealer didnt Jomol. The mousse foundation part works pretty ok. I have used it to office for the first time today (since I bought this only yday) so it will be a good trial run for me to see how long it lasts. For me MAC still is the best concealer I have used since it is thicker in consistency (but I keep looking for options in concealer for some reason. god knows why since MAC works so well:))

        1. Aruna….please do tell me how this goes for you today……I am eager to pick it up…..since our weather condition is the same, I think if it works for you, it might as well work for me :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

              1. nahin nahin..meine bhi yahi khreedithi but i am saying that SA told me it will work well as a concealer too and so i got tempted..and for oily skin this mousse type concealer dosent work well. one does need a much thicker formula waala concealer..as a light foundation this works pretty well.

            1. totally bestest ever…bought mine in July..seems like it has still has some life left and might suffice for another month easily. will totally let you know how this mousse thing worked 🙂

                1. eggggzactly…they look at each customer and say what the customer wants to hear.. if they see dark circles they will market it like that..:( cant blame them.they r there to sell..ppl like us get conned :headbang: :headbang:

                  1. hmmm….. right!!! But i guess, we ladies should also keep our brains open wen we shop… Like when i mentioned abt the mousse, Shanaia/Heer told me it has light coverage only, which she cud make out by testing at d counter itself, as it didnt even lighten the appearance of veins on her wrist O:) O:) O:)

  9. ahaaan..this sounds toooo good Nupuri..somehow I have always been scared of Lakme products..donno why….I think this Absolute range seems quite niceeeee…will definitely give this a try now!! 😀

  10. Kimi…..I really liked the earlier mousse of Lakme.. because it was a perfect match for me……but it would easily get transferred to tissues and all…this one sounds really good….I am eager to get now :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  13. Hi Nupur nice review as usual :)) Lakme seems to be doing real good with this new collection   I may pick this up if one of the shades match 🙂
I saw ur review of Vichy emulsion very late n so didnt comment but I liked it a lot :))
    I had a query abt that, can I ask u here? 🙂

      1. No Nupur, this is my 1st DP. I think there is another Ramya here too bcoz I have seen that cute bear too :))
I wanted to know ki if I had to pick either Normaderm hydra care or emulsion, which is better?
I use the gel cleanser n thermal spa water n I LOVE both n now wanna buy a moisturizer… :))

          1. I have Neutrogena one currently… Is the emulsion better than that…? :))
The normaderm is that Vichy one only. The night cream or something… Is that good?
(hope am not asking too many questions!!)

            1. Oh, and I have combination skin too, drier in winters just like u mentioned.. Thatsy I felt u’d be the right person to ask!!!

  14. i was so glad 2 make a cake n it came out really soft. though d taste was b/w decent n gud (as per feedbck frm frnd :p) but it was also a lil bitter. wt mistake i had done?:/

  15. 2nd time, i used less dan half cup cocoa powder n use 1.5 cups sugar .. still it was bitter. i guess i wil hv 2 lessen d qty of cocoa powder more nxt time 😐

  16. Omigosh Nupur! :woot: :woot: Whatay CUTE little jar! :happydance: :inlove: Seeing the packaging and reading your super review, I am half inclined to wish I had oily skin. :silly: Damn. Maybe I could buy it around July-ish when I’ll need the matte effect for the humid weather. 😀 😀

  17. Oh…yeah sometimes mine also turns bitter…..so I just avoid cocoa powder altogether….I make normal vanilla sponge cakes for tea time now 😐 😐 😐

      1. Nahin…mekko chocolate har roop aur rang mein pashand hai :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali:

          1. Nahin Nahin…I like Nupuriiiiiiiiiii…you sent me na…I ate all of them……no sharing with anyone :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  18. itni bhi kanjus ni hu ki frnd ko food poisonin ka shikaar banadu 😮 i brought it d same day i had 2 make cake i.e. 2 weeks bck :p n frm ur xperience, do u also knw where i can tk clsses 4 learnin how 2 make gud desserts 😐

    1. its not abt being kanjoos heena, its just that we dont notice thins sometimes .
i guess u shud reduce d quantity of cocoa powder u use..
I have heard names like Manju monga , Nita mehta for her cookery classes in Delhi

  19. i am having a super confoosing day- carpenter, plumber, washing machine, maid :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

  20. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :happydance: :happydance: accha hua accha hua :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

  21. just 3 shades? :spank: :spank: :spank: c’mon lakme should really work on this..i dont think i will find my skin match in this one :nababana: but reading the review it does sound like a decent everyday wear foundation! :thanks: for the review Nupur :waytogo:

  22. the packaging looks like a modern day utility pokemon ball 😛 or dragon ball except thats its all silver and black 😛 IT sounds better than the maybelline mousse though (that is another controversial foundation which seems to work for some and absolutely not for others 😛 )

  23. nice review nupur…..n all the points explained so well…. but methinks i wuddnt go for this…. :)) esp….after the fragrance issue…

  24. Hi Nupur, very nice detailed review, thanks a lot. I did try this at the store, the same shade was toooooo yellowish for my skin tone and the SA refused to show me the other shades, saying those were not for me. I am so tempted to get this since it’s for oily skin and it blended so beautifully, but what to do? :woot:

  25. thanks for the review nupur :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: but doubt for dry skin na as you mentioned ?:) ?:) ?:) :worship: :worship: :worship:

  26. Mooj foundation? Blends easily? Muzhe achhha laga! :woot: I think my skin will accept this.
And that packaging is so cute. Golu molu ball filled with flubber. :dumb: :dumb:

  27. This product is alright, but not really up to the mark.
I noticed since I sweat a lot, it kind of comes off after a few minutes. Also with only 3 shades to choose from, it doesn’t really suits people like me who have wheatesh skin tone, like though I was given one that seemed to match mine, still when i apply it it kind of makes me look made up. Thought applying is very easy. And the smell put me off it has the same smell that people use in some liquids to clean the toilets in all the airports. The smell is too overpowering.
Since I have slightly dry skin when I apply moiusturiser before using it it kind of makes my face look all the more oily and horrible.
Maybe i just don’t know how to use it or how to keep it from melting with my sweat.
Everyhting looks good on the models but when it comes to us it is just okay.

  28. Well i totally agree where you mentioned it is not suitable for dry skin. I have dry skin and this mousse did not work on me. Even though i generously moisturized my skin, this one still looks so patchy and flaky on me and definitely did not blend that well. It has light coverage and did not cover up my dark circles. It made my dark circles look even bad since they started appearing greenish blue after applying lakme mousse. Big no for me. i think i should stop trying mousses and simply buy liquid foundations going forward. for oily skins this might work.
