Lakme Absolute Moon Lit Highlighter Review and Swatches
Now since our very own Desi brand Lakme has come with a pretty bronzer and highlighter, I don’t see a reason why all of us shouldn’t have one of these as gone are the days when we used to wear flat foundation with compact irrespective of our face shape being round or long. I can’t get enough of bronzers and I got many from England, but had to try from Lakme as well 😀
Having reviewed the bronzer, I move on to the highlighter, and here in this review. I will help you decide whether you should get both, or just one of them, and if just one of them, then whether to get the highlighter or the bronzer.
I love how they have named the highlighter Moon-Lit and the bronzer Sun-Kissed. The illuminator in the highlighter really reminds me of the moon light glow when the moon shines on our faces on a full moon night; if you ever walked under the moonlight :methinks:.
The highlighter has two sides to it, one is the highlight for illuminating the high parts of the face, like the high of the cheeks, and the bridge of the nose, under the brow bone and this also helps to contour the face. This is in contrast with a deeper color as the one provided in the pack, the whole face comes out well contoured and not flat or round which is seen when you use only the foundation.
There are two sides in the compact that we have here, half is an illuminator and the other half is intended to contour the face and use it where you want to make your face look deeper, like under the cheek bone.
I don’t have many illuminators honestly and when I first saw it, I thought, well it’s got a lot of glitter. It should have been a little softer and not chalky and a little finer in texture, and I was right. When I got it home, I applied it on the cheek bones and lightly under the eyes where it meets the cheek, but what I first saw was too much chunky glitter.
Then, I tried to see the illumination effect it had on me and I must say I was very impressed to see the kind of translucent sheen it gave to my cheek bones, when I tried to look past the glitter in it.
The other side is the darker brown color for contour and I thought these are not a perfect match for each other. I mean the illuminator is too white and glittery and the the bronzer color is darker and well, I don’t know, it did not fit well with me, but still, I tried to use them together, and I saw that the shade and the effect was exactly the same as the sun-kissed bronzer they have. :haanji:
So, the bronzer that Lakme has come up with has almost the same shades as the darker brown in this highlighter. In fact, I can mix and match any one for contour. The illuminator is a little chalky as you can see and not fine in texture. It is really glittery for day wear and I admit the effect is very pretty with translucent sparkling skin, but you have to look past the glitter for that.
I only wish they had milled the illuminator finer and the shade of the contour color was a little lighter, and a little pinker and different from what they had to offer in their own bronzer. The effect without base of the illuminator lasted for 3 hours on me and so did the contour (remember without primer and base for oily skin).
Last Word on Lakme Absolute Moon-Lit Highlighter:
If you ask me honestly, I would say you get the highlighter as it serves both purposes of illuminator and bronzer as the shade for contour is almost same as the ones in Sun Kissed. You can easily make do with this shade for contour. The illuminator is glittery and not for day wear, unlike what they say. The deeper shade should have been pinker, but is good as a blush too as it has pearl finish and no shimmer to it.

3.9 on 5 (overall good but the glitter and shimmer in the illuminator is a put-off, but the effect is good).

Great review Neha, I love them both and still confused. I think I will now get the bronzer because I know I will never use the highlighter…. I’m way too satisfied with the Revlon skinlights one that I have..
