Lush Vanilla Dee-lite vs The Body Shop Vanilla Body Lotion

Lush_Vanilla_Dee_lite_LotionLush Vanilla Dee-Lite body lotion claims – Delightfully soothing, creamily smoothing, vanilla lotion for body and hands! With natural coconut and illipe butters and vitamin-packed, fresh kiwi fruit! Made with lovely light oils and butters including Hawaiian tamanu and monoi – organic coconut water and Simon’s Vanilla Fountain scent! Use it to make your skin soft!

Lush liquid products are packed in 100% recycled pet bottles, which saves around 90 tonnes of virgin plastic per year! The packaging is a 250 g transparent pet bottle with a flip top! Price Rs 1480 (Indian rupees)! The product is cream-colored! Consistency is more like a whip body lotion! Blends like a dream! Smoothes easily over the skin! The formula is definitely non-greasy! Doesn’t leave any greasy residue on the skin! It’s a light-weight fluffy lotion! Leaves your skin well moisturized! Fragrances are personal! I find something great doesn’t mean you feel the same way! Vanilla Dee-Lite is more warm-scented and sugary, but I can sense the burnt smoky fragrance! I don’t find this sickly sweet! Definitely doesn’t smell like vanilla ice cream! The staying power of fragrance and moisturizer is phenomenal! Inspite of frequent exposure to water, my hands did feel visibly soft!

The Body Shop Vanilla Body LotionWith a zillion vanilla-flavored products in the market, I wonder how the real vanilla smells like! I doubt if I like the original version being exposed to overwhelming fusions! Fragrance wise, I cannot compare Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite to The Body Shop Vanilla body lotion! TBS Vanilla body lotion is more intense! It’s both vanilla and floral, which is a bonus for me! Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite is fluffy whereas TBS Vanilla body lotion is sheer and runny! I say you will need the tiniest amount in both! The amount shown in the picture would be more than enough for your hands! No harm if more or less! TBS Vanilla body lotion is a bit darker in color, comparatively! If you prefer floral vanilla, pick TBS Vanilla body lotion! If you are into warm spicy nostalgic scents, go for Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite!

I didn’t buy Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite as I could relate that to TBS Nutmeg & Vanilla body butter! Probably the nearest, fragrance-wise! Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite is on the less intense end whereas TBS Nutmeg & Vanilla has a strong spicy scent! I didn’t want another product with the nearest fragrance in my stash! TBS Vanilla body lotion 200 ml retails for £7.50, Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite 250 g retails for £10.75 and TBS Nutmeg & Vanilla body butter retails for £12.50/Rs 875 (Indian Rupees) ! Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite and TBS Vanilla body lotion are available in the above mentioned sizes whereas TBS Nutmeg & Vanilla body butter is also available in 50 ml packaging! Body Shop India website still has the Nutmeg & Vanilla body butter, but I am not quite sure if they have the Vanilla body lotion yet!

Lush Vanilla vs The Body Shop Vanilla

The Body Shop Vanilla body lotion includes bergamot, peach, strawberry, orange flower and jasmine blended together to create the sweet warm, warm and velvety vanilla fragrance! It includes community trade Babassu Oil, which moisturises the skin! Also includes grapeseed oil, which restores moisture, smoothness and suppleness! Personally, I like vanilla-flavored products! I am always on the hunt! One such quest, I found myself at the Lush store! I did browse the Vanillery range! Lush staff suggested vanilla massage bar and body lotion! I tried both, but only after coming out of the store did I realise that I liked Lush vanilla massage bar the most! I am not a big fan of Lush Dee-Lite, but there is nothing to hate in this as such! Only reason I liked Lush massage bar was it did smell more intense, comparatively! I liked the way it moisturized my skin! I find the application technique very interesting! Once out of bath, simply rub the bar on to your skin! Voila!

Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite Ingredients – Hibiscus Infusion (Hibiscus sabdariffa), Spring Water, Pure Organic Coconut Water (Cocos nucifera), Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera), Stearic Acid, Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Fresh Kiwi Fruit (Actinidia chinensis), Glycerine, Triethanolamine, Illipe Butter (Shorea stenoptera), Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum grandiflorum), Tonka Absolute (Dipteryx odorata), Tamanu Oil (Calophyllum inophyllum), Cetearyl Alcohol, Coumarin, Hydroxycitronellal, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben).

For those sceptical about ingredients, this formula includes parabens! Beauty world raised voice on parabens, but could that influence people to buy paraben-free cosmetics? Parabens are effective preservatives primarily used for their bactericidal and fungicidal properties! They help increase the shelf life of the products! Parabens can be found naturally apart from being produced synthetically! Methylparaben found in Blueberries has antimicrobial properties, for instance! On normal skin, parabens can be non-irritating and non-sensitizing! If the individual is allergic to paraben, it results in Rosacea and Contact Dermatitis! High levels of parabens have been detected in breast tumors! Parabens are known to mimic estrogen, a hormone known to play a role in the development of breast cancer! According to immunologists, there is a very strong correlation between the underarm hygiene habits and breast cancer! This research has fueled a popular belief that the parabens in underarm deodorants and other cosmetics can migrate into breast tissue and contribute to the development of tumors!

P.S – I still remain a loyal Body Shopper! No intentions in branching out! Naughty minds

The Boy Shop Vanilla Body Lotion is a limited edition product and is available during the christmas time in India.

  1. Nice review! I have never bought anything from Lush but I hear their products are great, especially a kind of shower gel, I forgot the name but it’s only available in nov/dec (here in the Netherlands) I read a lot about parabens being very harmful, I try to avoid it but do use it sometimes (when it’s in a product I really like) I don’t ever use deodorant, I strongly believe in the correlation between that and breast cancer, what do you think?

  2. Nice review Divija…..should say both body lotions look yummy. I was gonna say something (about TBS) after the mention made by you about parabens, but then I read the P.S…… 😀 Lush seems to be more creamy, isnt it?

  3. Yes, i also kind of feel that more research should be done about parabens, but you know what…every ointment, cream, lotion, and what not even my son’s ointments have paraben in them……….I so wish it does not have any harmful effect… :smug:

  4. The only thing that has pulled me back everytime I visited Lush was the price tag.. No matter how exotic the ingredients and how effective the product is, i can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on what claims to have all natural ingredients….!!!

i sorta had the inkling who’ll win by looking at the title… No matter who wins I know you are married to TBS…!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

  5. I agree with Mrunmayee… Lush prices are beyond belief sometimes and for tiny little quantities :teeth:

I’m going to wait for TBS vanilla lotion though. I have the vanilla and nutmeg lipbalm and I LOVE that fragrance so I’m assuming I’ll like the lotion as well

  6. parabens..sigh! if we stick to products without parabens I guess we would have very liitle choice as most products even the so called herbal ones use parabens…

Lush produvts are so freakin’ expensive!!!And I thought body shop was expensive!!
lol divija…we never expected you to give up your loyalty to TBS ever!!! 🙂 :dazed:

  7. Lush…for me is still an unexplored brand. I have used just 2 of their massage bars and found it yummm :inlove:
Should start my Lush exploration soon..Have been reading reviews in Shivani’s blog too.
But before that, I should deal with my stocked up stuff from TBS. :struggle:

  8. I just just love vanilla smells. 😀

Haven’t tried either of these but I do have my very own vanilla body wash and lotion. Was going to review it today – but maybe i’ll out it up nxt week to avoid confusion.

  9. I love vanilla fragrance…..but yeah the Lush one is too expensive…I did try the TBS one recently and loved it but didnt buy it…maybe soon 🙂

  11. I think it’s best to try to avoid them! But I also understand the unconsciousness, many products don’t look harmful at all so sometimes for me it’s hard to believe that they could have such effects. Yes I live in Amsterdam, and you, in India? I would love to visit some time. My parents are from.. ermm I forgot 🙁 something with pradesh. Anyway I’ve never been there but I’ll pay a visit someday! With my boyfriend, he would love to see the country (he’s dutch) have a nice weekend!
