Haul without Mac seems a bit weird for me. With the lip liners from Elizabeth Arden, this Mac BB Compact came home with me as a part of monthly pamper from IMBB. I was using it in different conditions and with different tools so as to figure out what works best for this. Read on to know more on this…

My experience with MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm Compact SPF 30:
The BB compact comes in a gorgeous outer black paper carton with specks of green and purple glitter. All details about the product including ingredients are mentioned on the box along-with the shade name. The compact comes with a sponge and is protected by a thin translucent paper. There is no compartment below like the Studio Fix range, so the sponge has to rest on the product. hygiene can be a concern in this case as the sponge is always in direct contact with the product if you throw away the paper separation. But being compact in nature and the in-built mirror, this would come in handy for touch-up all through the day.
The coverage is medium to build-able depending on the tool that is used for application. I have used brush, sponge and even fingertips for application and I find sponge works best. With the brush there is a bit of product wastage and being well pigmented yet creamy in texture, leaves streaky marks. With a normal sponge the coverage is beautiful and non patchy. Minor imperfections can easily be taken care of with the compact. For darker marks you have to use a concealer.
The texture of the compact is lightweight yet creamy. Initially it might feel a bit heavy but given 5-10inutes, the BB settles to give a smooth even skin tone. If you are looking for something that would give a matte summer look, this is not for you. For the ones who love sporting dewy finish makeup with the added glow, this can be your best bet. For a sultry hot Chennai summer this is not the best for my skin type, but I really like how flawless yet natural finish it gives to the skin; saving it primarily for the winters and ac environment.
As per the MUA there is no difference between the compact and the tube packaging of MAC BB, but I felt the one in tube packaging was a bit more lightweight and matte in texture. But that also depends on how am applying the product, so in all faith, I would love to believe they are same; this being more handy and travel friendly. The smell of the product is typical of Mac base products but is not bothersome.
The staying power is great to say the least, there is hardly any need of touch up if you are in ac environment or cooler regions. With the sweaty sultry summers, it might seem to melt away from around the lips or forehead but a bit of touch up would take you through the day.
Overall this is a great buy for those with dry skin or if you like dewy finish makeup. If you are an oily skinned girl living in a humid zone, you need to set it with some translucent powder. But the SPF and dewy finish were convincing enough for me and thus I am a bit partial to this particular BB Compact.
