Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer Review

Product Purchased by IMBB

Hello everyone,

This month, I got a chance to try two primers – the It Cosmetics Feel The Moment Anti-Aging Primer Serum and the other one is this one – Mally Perfect Prep Poreless Primer. It helped me in a way to compare their performance and see which performs better. Let’s get started with the review.

My Experience with Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer:

I love Mally for her personality and have been following her and her products for about 2 years now. I have always wanted to try the Face Defender and Perfect Prep Poreless Primer from Mally Beauty, but for some reason had never got a chance to try.  It was like either I would buy another primer or would think of buying it later.  Now that I saw it on sale on Ulta, I readily picked it. Let me break down various performance areas and talk about each.

Packaging:

The product comes in a bulky glass jar with a pink screw cap. Though it would look pretty in the vanity area, this kind of packaging is not really a travel-friendly option and the packaging it too big, for the amount of product. Also, jar packaging is not an hygienic option.

Texture:

The product is light pink in color and has the consistency of a whipped cream. It is very soft to touch. It does not have any color once applied on skin.

Smell:

This product has a slight chemical smell to it. To be precise, this smells like the fem bleach.  Thank God, it is not very over powering.

Performance:

I just need a little bit of product to cover my face, it spreads super easy on skin and instantly makes skin feel super smooth and silky, thanks to silicone present in this product. This is a typical silicone-based primer, which would fill the pores and fine lines making pores and fine lines look less visible. I have the Smashbox Photo Ready Primer and love it. This Mally Prep Poreless Primer also performs same like the smashbox one.  Foundation goes on very smoothly over this primer and I only need a little foundation when I have this primer on.  It does not have any moisturizing quality, so I make sure to moisturize my skin well before applying this, else it might feel dry.

Longevity:

I have combination skin and I tested this product with a full face of makeup on top of it (foundation, powder, blush and bronzer). My makeup stayed fresh almost throughout the day except for my nose area, where I tend to get a little oily. Just dabbing a tissue or a blotting sheet on my nose did the trick to remove the shine.

My skin did not react negatively to this product.  It neither irritated nor caused any breakouts.

Value for Money:

This product is almost in the price range of other high-end brand primers and performs at the same level. Primers like It Cosmetics Anti-Aging Primer Serum has so many skin benefiting ingredients while this one doesn’t have all those things, but this primer by Mally Beauty definitely does a good job in what it is intended to do.  It definitely is worth the money.

Pros of Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer:

  • Glides on skin making it smooth and silky to touch.
  • Fills pores and fine lines making them less visible.
  • Makeup goes on smoothly over this primer.
  • Mattifies skin on application.
  • Keeps makeup fresh for 7-8 hours (I need to just blot my nose area once, I have combination skin).
  • Reduces the amount of foundation needed.

Cons of Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer:

  • Bulky packaging.
  • Smells a bit chemical.
  • Silicone based, may not suit people who are allergic to silicone-based products.
  • I don’t think this can be used during night time as they claim on their website.

Would I Repurchase Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer?

I have so many primers.  I would buy this again if I finish this anytime soon.  If you do not mind the bulky packaging, I would recommend this to you.

IMBB Rating:

4.25/5

Final Verdict:

If you are in the market looking for a good primer, I would definitely suggest you to check this out. If you travel a lot, then the packaging would be a big con. In that case, I would suggest primers that come in tube packaging like the Smashbox Photo Ready Primer.
