Maybelline Moisture Extreme – 476 – Gingerbread Review and Swatches
Today, I’m going to review my first Moisture Extreme lipstick from Maybelline in the shade No.476 – Gingerbread.
I got this lipstick from 99labels.com along with two other Maybelline lippies, all 3 came in one set.
Let me share my views about this lippy.
On the Website :
Why You’ll Love It:
– Protects your lips with SPF 15.
– Has a clever Moisture Lock Gel system.
– Is enriched with jojoba oil & shea butter.
– Has non-feathering technology.
This particular shade is listed under Reds and Corals in their UK website here. I didn’t find any information about the moisture extreme lipsticks in their India Website.
Price: MRP 220 for 4g .
Shelf Life: 30 months.
My Take on Maybelline Moisture Extreme – 476 – Gingerbread:
This is a Peachy Coral shade with a little bit of shimmer in it. The shimmer is not OTT at all. It’s a very wearable shade. I wear it to office when I go on salwar or kurtis. It would look very good with ethnic wears, it’s my preference and you can use it with any outfit, you can pair it with
This one smells of coconut, which I like, and does not have any taste to it. The packaging is metallic red with a slightly curved top. It is a very normal packaging and nothing great about it.
This has sheer-to-medium coverage, at least for the shade I’m reviewing today. If I compare the coverage with the Color Sensation lipstick, it is definitely lesser. My upper lip is more pigmented than my lower one and you can see in the lip swatch photo that my upper lip’s pigmentation has not been covered fully and they do transfer. I can see my lip color on paper cups and tumblers that I use :yikes:
This is creamy enough to glide on lips effortlessly. It does moisturize my lips well and my lips feels comfortable wearing it, but during my bad lip days, I found this to be becoming patchy over dried skin on lips.
The staying power of the lipstick is just average for like 2 to 3 hrs. The more moisturizing the lip product is, the faster it would fade. Once I eat or drink something, it starts to fade. As this is not very dark shade, I cannot find any color left on my lips by afternoon. I’m not sure about darker shades from this range.
What’s Good About Maybelline Moisture Extreme – 476 – Gingerbread:
 It is definitely moisturizing than most other lipsticks I have used.
 Feels very light on lips, more like a lip balm.
 Has SPF 15 in it.
 Does not feather or bleed (at least in Bangalore weather).
 Very affordable.
 I like the coconut smell in it.
What’s Bad About Maybelline Moisture Extreme – 476 – Gingerbread:
 Moisture and color does not stay long, hardly for 2-3 hrs.
 Shimmers in it might not be liked by all.
 There might be a tendency for this lippy to break in hot places, due to its creamy consistency, so it has to be handled carefully.
These are pretty good moisturizing lipsticks for the price we pay. We may have to re-apply it a couple of times in a day. You can surely try them for their texture, if not for the staying power. I’m eyeing the shade “Bitten Plum” in this range, reviewed by FG here.
