NYX Powder Blush Nutmeg Review

I am in a serious blush phase right now parallel to many other phases 😛

This blush was part of a huge NYX haul from Cherry Culture long back and somehow this hadn’t got the chance to be used and reviewed. But now, I have been using a blush every time for various reasons (the biggest one being I have so many blushes to use ).  This has been my best friend for a long time. This is the most nude and just-there shade in my blush collection, another one being a gold one from Colorbar and some more Colorbar blushes show up quite nude on me :P. This one is the most nude, the lightest by far.

The blush comes in a cute square packing with no brush and a nice, big color pan in there.  I am okay without the brush because more often than not I do carry my own brush for powder or for blush touch ups.  The lid is clear from which you can see the pretty color inside. The transparent part of the lid came off actually when I dropped it and I fixed it with Fevicol and now it looks very tacky, hence no close up of the lid.

The shade is a gorgeous nude one, like I said.  It is a peachy nude, absolutely matte, no shimmer or frost and hence makes it even more wearable during day and I can wear it even without looking in the mirror as this shade won’t look artificially pink even if I layer it on.

The texture is nice and soft, as in, I do need to get some powder on to layer it, but otherwise, the feel is nice and smooth.  Since the color is nude, I need to layer it on and on or just feel happy with a light cheek and the just-there effect. Since this shows up light, staying power can be a problem.

Now, I can think of a few uses of such a light blush:

  • Use it on a cream base.
  • Use it on your darker blushes to lighten them.
  • Mix and match with other blushes to tone down shimmer perhaps.
  • Wear it to office for a  very pretty nude cheek, but still fresh face.

The problem with this one is that you might need a lot.  Also, it may not suit dusky skin and I think only fair skin can carry it, otherwise it might look artificially patchy on darker skin tones.

Last Word:

Nice, soft, nude blush for fair-skinned beauties. Also, versatile to mix and match with darker blushes. Great for office goers who want the “just-there” look too.  You may have to layer it on a cream base to show up.
