Hello lovely ladies,
Super excited to bring you this review today. I wanted to review the Stila Glitter and Glow ages ago and something or the other kept coming in between, but this did ensure that I got a lot of time to play with the product before penning this review down. So, let’s get started.
A brilliant and long-wearing, liquid glitter eyeshadow. What it does: Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow is a long-wearing, sparkle eyeshadow with the perfect blend of pearl and glitter to leave your eyes with incredible luster and shimmer. With its uniquely lightweight, water-infused texture, it glides on effortlessly, then dries down smoothly, locking in maximum sparkle with minimal fallout for elevated eye looks. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
Triethanolamine: Creates a barrier between your skin and the pearls to maximize comfort for barely-there wear. -Glycerin: Conditioning ingredient known to hydrate the skin. Water, Mica (Ci 77019), Aluminum Calcium Sodium Silicate, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Polyethylene Terephthalate, Squalane, Polysorbate 60, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Glycerin, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Silica. (+/-) Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Tin Oxide (Ci 77861).
USD 49/SGD 69
The liquid eyeshadow comes packaged in a lip gloss type of packaging except for the fact that the tube is cuboid instead of cylindrical. It has a doe-foot type of applicator, which allows easy dispensing and application of the product. The good thing is that tube has a silicon stopper at its neck which ensures that too much product does not get dispensed out at one go which really helps. Also, it would prevent the product coming in contact with air too much. The applicator works well for applying the eyeshadow on the lid. However, if you need to use the eyeshdow as a liquid liner, you will need to use a fine tip brush form your collection. The product comes packed in a golden cardboard box. Overall, the packaging is functional and aesthetically appealing.
My Experience with Stila Magnificent Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Rose Gold Retro:
Shade: The shade described by the brand as a “rose gold and silver” color. It is a light to medium, bright, metallic, rose gold shade with rose gold and silver micro glitter particles in it. The micro-glitter is quite fine and the base colour is fairly distinct unlike Urban Decay Cowboy (which I had reviewed some time back) which is more chunkier and the base was pretty much a transparent liquid with the micro-glitter suspended in it. So, since the base shade is prominent, the product can be used as an eyeshadow with the edges blended out, or it can be sheered and used as a top coat or an all over colour and it can also be used as an eyeliner. I have shared FOTDs with each of these options.
Texture: The product is a creamy liquid with a polished high shine. The eyeshadow applies evenly, the base shades apply smoothly without going patchy or uneven. It’s quite a good texture. It takes less than a minute to dry down. This gives you ample play time to blend the edges softly with your fingers or with a synthetic brush. Despite the high shine, it did not seem to accentuate texture on my lid.
I found it fairly easy to work with. The best part is that since the glitter is suspended in a homogenous creamy base – it did not seem to have much fall out during the course of wear, which is excellent for a glitter product. I did not seem to have any issue with applying it as an all-over shadow or as a top coat. However, while applying it as a eyeliner, I felt that the formula does not go on as smooth as I would have liked it to go.
Pigmentation: Pigmentation is pretty good. You can see the swatch, the base colour is distinct and goes on smoothly. It isn’t a scenario where glitter is suspended in a transparent/uneven base. The shadow can be used in its full glory or sheered out – as one desires.
Staying power: Disclaimer – I apply eyeshadows with a primer because my lids are way too oily. I get about 9-10 hours of wear with barely any fall out. This is phenomenal for a glitter product.
Pros of Stila Magnificent Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Rose Gold Retro:
- Lovely rose gold with rose gold and silver glitter.
- Extremely bright and eye catching.
- Once dry – does not budge at all.
- Effective and efficient packaging.
- Did not sting my eyes or cause irritation.
- Hardly any fall out.
- Does not need a glitter glue as a base.
- Travel friendly.
- Can be used as a liner, eyeshadow or topper.
Cons of Stila Magnificent Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Rose Gold Retro:
- I wish it was waterproof; however, the brand has made no such claims about it either.
This is a fab product for someone who loves to play with glitters. Yes, the price point is not the easiest to swallow, especially considering that drugstore glitter pans come for under USD 5. However, the whole ease of use and the stunning result you get with it – makes it fairly idiot proof. I have never used glitter in my life and using this was such a breeze!!
