Winters are back again and so are the concerns regarding how to keep our skin well hydrated and moisturized. 😀 Somehow, the brand I always relate to achieving supple, hydrated skin is “The Body Shop”. You can’t blame me, if you have used any of its body butters – I am sure you will agree with me! 😀 This brand has a body butter catering to every skin type and the body butter I have picked for today’s review is Hemp Body Butter (of course, as you already know). Now, The Body Shop claims that it is formulated to keep really dry skin type – ultra hydrated and soft. Let’s find out if it’s time to say no to excessive dead skin or not!
Price: Rs. 1195 for 200 gms.
My Experience With The Body Shop Hemp Body Butter:
This is my 3rd jar of Hemp Body Butter, so naturally I do like it. It keeps your skin supple and soft, especially if you have dry skin. This is, infact, formulated for people who have really dry skin like me.
Having already proclaimed my love for this body butter – I would like to mention my 1st experience with Hemp Body Butter. I was actually introduced to Hemp Body Butter by a friend who couldn’t get enough of it. So naturally, I wanted to give it a try. Honestly, at the first whiff of the body butter – I was a little turned off, it smells different, nothing flowery or fruity. Honestly, it’s nothing like the smell you want on yourself for the entire day. It does smell a bit bitter actually; very raw like hemp, I would say. However, after some initial reluctance, I eventually did buy it and I have to say it has been a happy story for my skin ever since. 😀
So, if its fragrance is not a problem for you, I would definitely recommend you to try it out. Another thing I would like to add here is that, though you might start noticing the change in your skin almost immediately, give it some time, and I am sure within a month you will fall in love with it. You can actually feel how moisturized your skin will eventually be. 🙂 Also, unlike many other moisturizers, you don’t really have to keep re applying it. 🙂
As for the odour; Well, it really doesn’t last long. And once you get used to it, you won’t really mind it, at least that’s how it has been in my case. Infact, you may realize it isn’t as bad as you thought it to be initially. Also, since the fragrance isn’t really strong, it won’t mix with your colognes, so I guess you are good to go. 🙂
Advice – For best results, apply all over the body, right after the shower. Just massage it into your body. It absorbs right away.
Pros of The Body Shop Hemp Body Butter:
- Buttery Texture
- Non Greasy – It might look like it, but it absorbs well into your skin

- Dermatologically Tested
- Expiry – 12 months (Once opened)

Cons of The Body Shop Hemp Body Butter:
- Expensive – This is really not a Con. It is expensive but it is worth it’s price. Trust me!
- Smell – For some of you, it might not be a pleasant smell. This is nothing fruity or floral. On the contrary it is sort of bitter.
IMBB Rating: 4.5/ 5. 🙂
