Colored eyeliner again! Hope you don’t think I’m a freak who roams around with bright lids and lips. Nope, this time it’s a more wearable plum – not the “someone-punched-you” kind of plum, but a brown-based one. I have noticed that sometimes black looks extremely dark and makes the eyes look stern and matronly – especially in case of liquid liners. Gel eyeliners are more forgiving in the sense that they can be smudged and make the appearance a bit softer if you will. This pencil is kind of line a mix of gel and kohl and is a pleasure to apply!

My Take on Trish McEvoy Intense Gel Eyeliner – Deep Aubergine:

Oh My God! talk about intense – true to it’s name, it applies extremely intense and is a deep aubergine color (which in hindi means baingan) and is a true baingani color, but it is so deep, it almost is at the border of brown. The full size comes with a smudger at the end and is a sharpenable pencil. I had to use a really light hand and it still deposited a beautiful line on the lids. I really like the fact that it goes on smoothly without leaving a jagged line or gaps. This is exactly like how a gel liner feels. Except you can travel with it 😀 It applies super smooth with absolutely no tugging and no sharp edge to prick the eyes. I even use it under the lid for tight lining and it just deposits an awesome hue without burning or itching in the eye. My friend who wears contacts also uses this and she was the one who had me get it 🙂 Also, these kinds of shades really look nice on my brown eyes.

I have shopped a lot in May and I’m really happy to find such lovely and great-quality products. This particular shade is absolutely matte and has no shimmer or shine to it. Extremely great for work or formal dos.  It gives a great definition to the eyes without making them look gothic. I apply a swipe of aubergine all over my eyes, very close to the lash line for a defined look. Even this one stays well over my oily lids and once set, does not budge or travel all over my lids. Maximum of my eye kohls have given me this trouble where they start smearing or running down my eyes when I am outside, but not this one.

It does fade in a couple of hours, but does not look ghastly which is a blessing for me. Once applied, one has a few seconds to blend it until it sets. I use my ring finger or a pencil brush for a well-smudged look. My oily lids liked it a lot and I’m really thinking of trying more products from this line. And that’s why I trust makeup products made by renowned makeup artists.

• Expensive.
• Not easily available.
• If you have very wrinkly eyes, do apply a primer before.
• Not available in India.

Verdict:

I like the staying power better than MAC and UD kohls, I would highly recommend it 🙂 I’ll give it 4/5.
