Make Your Own Vanilla Body Butter: Do It Yourself
After receiving such overwhelming comments and appreciation for my last DIY; I am back with another one, hoping to get the same response from all you lovely ladies. When I came to London, I faced severe, harsh, wintery weather which tends to make my skin very dry. I tried so many lotions and moisturisers, but it could not suffice my needs. Most of the lotions that are available in the markets claims that it will keep the skin hydrated for 12 hours, but those claims were all very false to be believed. My friend Annie introduced me to the concept of body butter and tried body butter from The Body Shop and the results were amazing. ย After using the butter many times, I thought of making my own and voila! I was successful. I am going to share the same with you all today. Yes!! -How to make your own Vanilla Body Butter.
Here is what you need:
- Petroleum Jelly- 1 cup.
- Olive Oil- 1 cup.
- Vanilla Essence-1 table spoon.
- Glycerin -1/2 cup.
- Empty container
Procedure:
Step 1:
Mix olive oil, vanilla essence and glycerine together very well.
Step 2:
Take a pan and melt petroleum jelly on medium heat. Take off from the heat when it has melted.
Step 3:
Mix olive oil, vanilla essence and glycerin mixture in the melted petroleum jelly. Keep stirring till it has mixed really well.
Step 4:
Pour the above mixture in the empty container (do this very carefully because the mixture is really hot) and let it sit still, till its all set and hard again.
Here it is ready!
This is a very moisturising body butter because this contains 3 most important ingredients needed for dry skin – olive oil, glycerin and petroleum jelly. ย A very little amount does the job and you are left with smooth and hydrated skin. I also use this butter as make up remover and it does that very nicely too. Sometime, ย I add 1 spoon of sugar to it and use this as a scrub, and it shows beautiful results. Girls who live in harsh cold weather conditions must give this a try and I am sure you will not be disappointed. I call it as 3-in-1 body butter – moisturises, scrubs and removes makeup.
Tips:
- Melt petroleum jelly on medium heat.
- Any other essence like strawberry, orange, and lemon can also be added instead of vanilla.
- If you do not like olive oil; then replace it with coconut oil.
