ELF Mineral Powder Brush Review

Hello fellow IMBBians!!!

I bought this brush online from the ELF website as part of my Elf haul and even though I use it almost every day, I still have mixed feelings about it because of its usage and shape, but I don’t worry too much because it is not that expensive and still serves the purpose well (to an extent).  Keep reading to know more about it.

ELF Mineral Powder Brush Review

Product Details:
The rounded-dome tip and densely packed bristles offer exact product placement and complements the circular movements needed to apply mineral powders. Perfect for providing full coverage and reaching the hard to reach crevices of the face. Use for applying both loose and compact mineral powders or any other pressed or loose powder, foundation, bronzer or blush.

How To Use:
Dip into powder and sweep over the face in circular motions for full foundation coverage or glide over cheekbones for adding defined blush color. This multi-tasking brush also works great with cream or liquid foundations.

$3

My Take on ELF Mineral Powder Brush:

I find the name of this product deceiving because it is too small for a powder brush and is not tapered enough to be used a contour brush, or flat topped to be used as a stippling brush or any other unique feature. It is just a small-sized fluffy brush. I like to use a larger size brush for applying powder because it gives more coverage in a single sweep.

Packaging:  It might just be a $3 brush, but it sure does not look like one – it has a very classy and expensive finish. It is all black with black bristles and they are packed in a steel holder, which is then attached to a plastic holder. On the plastic holder, “ELF Powder Brush” is written in white.

Brush bristle quality:  They are synthetic bristles and are super soft and fluffy like those expensive brushes.

Product distribution: It does a decent job at slathering products on face because of the dome finish but isn’t large enough like most powder brush. It can be used for areas around the nose or T zone, but not on the neck and other larger areas.

Bristle density:  Very dense and fluffy, enough to making blending easier.

It’s easy to clean and dry (just put in an upright position to drain out all the water) and it does not shed like other cheap makeup brushes.

Usage: It is good for dedicated application of powder or to blend blush on the apples of the cheeks, but I would not use it for larger areas or when I am in a hurry. The dome part of the brush allows for powder application, and can be used for contouring, sweeping highlight along the cheekbones as well as if one is comfortable doing that with a dome brush. One can pick up a little amount of product at a time and blend and continue this process until one achieves the desired look. It is good for people like me who have a small face and find it hard to contour their face. I also use it to apply powder under my eyes to prevent kajal from smudging and prevent my concealer from creasing.

Pros of ELF Mineral Powder Brush:

  • Travel-friendly packaging, easy to store, and looks classy.
  • Easy to wash and dry.
  • Soft synthetic brushes.
  • No shedding.
  • Good for applying powder to small areas and blush.
  • Affordable.

Cons of ELF Mineral Powder Brush:

  • Not large enough to apply powder in one sweep or to larger areas.
  • First time wash might cause brush dye to wash away, but this happens only the first time.

Would I Repurchase ELF Mineral Powder Brush?
No, because it would last me a while and I like to try out new products every time. I don’t recommend it to my readers because it has very limited usage and not meant for someone who is always in a hurry.
