Lakme Glide on Eye Color Review

Deep, intense, molten hues in a silky soft, creamy texture. For eyes that reflect the stars. Edge, smudge, line, shadow, color or blend with the greatest of ease. Wear the colors of the season from subtle green to warm copper and plush purple.

M.R.P. : Rs. 275/-

Available in 3 shades for the Lakme Night Fever Collection

Lakme Eye Pencils

  • Aqua Green : It’s a turquoise greenish-blue colour. (it’s somewhere in between turquoise green and blue)
  • Warm Copper : It is a golden copper colour
  • Plush Purple : It’s a milky purple colour.

IMBB One Lakh Prize Money Fashion Contest
I feel that the aqua green and warm copper would suit most eye colours and complexions while Plush Purple would look good on people with far complexion or those who have hazel/green eyes. Lakme Glide on Eye Color Lakme Glide on Eye Colour pencils are super soft pencils. They have never tugged my eyes. They just glide on easily on your lids like creamy sticks. They are smudge proof and last on my eye all day long. What I have noticed is that after 4 hours or so, the colours tend to fade away a little but it’s still there until I don’t remove them with a cleanser. You may also smudge them a little within a few seconds of applying for a soft look and then these set on your lids for hours. Although I don’t apply liners on my waterline but if some of the colour goes on my waterline during application, I have never felt any irritation or watering in my eyes.

Glide on Eye Color photos

I like the fact that these could be sharpened. I know a lot of you are not fan of this but I like such pencils. They give me a mental satisfaction that I am using a clean tip every time. :P The packaging is quite nice. The pencils have black covering , they come with transparent caps and the names are engraved in golden colour at the end. So you don’t have to hunt for the colours in your stash.

Lakme glide Ons

I have sharpened the warm copper and Aqua green quite a number of time but these didn’t break. I also feel that they are decently priced at Rs 275.

Here are the swatches: Lakme-Glide-On-Eye-Colour-Swatches

And here is Warm Copper and Aqua Green on my eyes.

Now I liked these pencils so much that I purchased Henna Gold Colour as well. :P

Henna Gold Eye Pencil

It’s a Henna Colour with gold undertones. This colour doesn’t show on my eyes that easily. I have to go over the application quite a few times to get the intensity. But I really really like this colour. I just wish it was more pigmented.

Here’s the swatch.

And here it is on my eyes.

Henna Gold

Overall I feel these pencils are great and true to their name : Glide On. They just glide on your lids like a dream.

This completes the review on all the products from the Lakme Night fever Collection, except Lakme Satin Lipstick. I cannot review that lipstick because I cannot wear the shade that they sent even at home. All I can say about them is that they look good texture wise. If anyone of you has used Lakme Satin lipsticks, we would love to have its review. :)

I would like to mention that the reviews were honest and based on my personal opinion. I was not paid to review them. I do take responsibility of every word I write/wrote.

Note: The 3 pencils from the Lakme Night Fever was sent by the company/ PR for consideration.

Ame July 19, 2010 at 9:34 am

Hi Rati, nice review. I have to say, I love these glide-on pencils as well :-* . I have henna gold and smokey green. But like you the henna gold doesn’t show too easily on my skin tone. Also. I had a question – do these pencils smudge on you? In the past I would wear them after moisturizing my face and they would smudge. Then I read on Tanveer’s blog that she wears them before using any cream, so I tried that. Do you use any eye cream before using these? If yes, doesn’t it smudge? Also, even without any smudging, I find that the fine gold glitter from the henna gold on my crease after a few hours of wearing it. You have any probs with that?

BTW, have Lakme discontinued the other Glide-on colours? They used to have 10 or so, but none of the shops have any old ones in stock and of course, they have no clue if or when they’ll be back.

Reply

Rati July 19, 2010 at 10:28 am

Ame I would be honest and tell you that I never paid much heed to these pencils until they sent it to me. Over the time we have lost so much trust in Lakme that we don’t pay much attention to even the good products that the brand makes. So I don’t even know what all colors they had before. this time whenever I am at a cosmetics store, I’ll find it for you. :)

I always and always put a wash of a primer + neutral colour on my lids – the lid colour from the chai latte quad. That makes my eye liners stay all day long. If you lids are oily nothing would stay. Even liners that claim smudge proof would smudge.

These didn’t smudge on my lids. But I never applied an eye cream before applying them. I never do that for any liner.

If you lids are oily, you must do the priming + a neutral colour on your routine for your lids.If your lids are not oily, just dab a little compact powder on lids so that it soaks the oil and let the liner adhere to your lids for long. :)

Reply

Ame July 19, 2010 at 12:04 pm

Ya I never tried the primer+neutral colour thing. I’ll try it this time and see how it works. Thanks a lot for the tip :-))

Reply

Rati July 19, 2010 at 12:10 pm

Most welcome. :)

Reply

Ame July 20, 2010 at 9:46 am

Also, thanks for telling me about oily lids. I’ve never come across liners that didn’t smudge on my oily lids and I always blamed my application method. I didn’t realise that for some people it will probably always smudge a little. Now I’m like – duh!! Anyway, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction :-)

I liked aqua too but feel its a very tricky color to pull off….the texture of these is really goood though….surprise from Lakme ;-)

No i didnt go yest…I realised I’ll need some good amt of time to select and this store is totally packed on sundays…so thought it would be a better idea to go on a weekday when there is less crowd so the SA would also be more patient with me :-)) …so will go this week whenever I manage from work

Reply

Rati July 19, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Yeah, I would have never bothered to buy these but I am glad that they are doing better now. Aqua green is not an everyday kind of colour and would also has to go with particular dresses etc. So, yeah you are right.

I am so eagerly waiting as to what you pick. You have made me so curious. :P

Reply

HD July 19, 2010 at 12:35 pm

I have an aqua blue color from Maxfactor…u r right..its goes only w particular dresses but its such a lovely color..

Dont be so curious yaar…dont want to disappoint you…I am just highly confused :-( N i want to pick up only a couple not dozens so the confusion builds up more

Reply

Rati July 19, 2010 at 12:43 pm

Don’t worry you won’t be confused that must. As soon as the shades would be infront of you , you’d know what’s yours and what’s not.

And no, why would I be disappointed as long as even one stuff that you pick makes you happy. :)

So yay!! enjoy your shopping. :)
