MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation Review

Price Rs 1800 for 10 gm

MAC Mineralize SPF 15 foundation is a cream foundation. It gives a medium to buildable coverage.

MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation

MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation

It comes with a mirror and a sponge. Both are useful.

MAC Foundation

MAC Foundation

You may apply the foundation with a foundation brush but I feel it gives excellent finish when you apply it with a sponge.

The sponge is white on colour but as you use it gets stained. I wash my sponge after every application but still it looks dirty. You can use disposable sponges .

MAC Foundation for Dry SKin

MAC Mineralize SPF 15 FOundation

What I love about MAC Mineralize SPF 15 foundation:

  • The shade. It matches my skin tone perfectly. It just looks like my own skin, better kinds.
  • It goes on your skin like butter and spreads evenly.
  • It gives a medium to buildable coverage.  I am not a huge fan of full coverage foundations so this fits my bill perfectly.
  • Mineralize SPF 15  foundation is mainly meant for dry skin so it never leaves dry patches even during dry weather conditions.
  • It is non transferable once you set it with powder. Nothing comes on my tissue even on the days when I am  sweating.
  • It’s compact and easy to carry.
  • It never broke me out.
  • I would stay it looks intact for 5-6 hours without a primer base or touch ups. After that I feel that it starts fading. But a little touch up here and there does the job. Also it doesn’t fade in a way that would make your skin look patchy.
  • I don’t wear tinted moisturizer, for me this is my tinted moisturizer. I can wear it rightly or can build up to medium coverage for evening or party,
  • It’s expensive but worth it. If I have to pick just one foundation in this world, it has to be MAC mineralize SPF 15 foundation.
  • Huge shade selection. Most Indian women would be able to find their perfect skin tone match in this foundation.

What I don’t like about Mac mineralize SPF 15 foundation:

MAC NC 35 Foundation

MAC NC 35 Foundation

  • It smells a little weird in pan but nothing that bothers me too much.
  • Since it’s in a cake form, it’s a little difficult to use. I mostly scrape off a little foundation with plastic spoon and then use it. But sometimes I directly dip my brush in the pan and use it. In that case, I take a clean tissue and press it on top of the cake. This way the top gets cleared.
MAC Mineralize SPF 15

MAC Mineralize SPF 15

I love everything about MAC Mineralize SPF 15 foundation. This is my New Holy Grail foundation. Love it and would give :star::star::star::star::star: irrespective of the little cons. 🙂

And here is me wearing the MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation.

MAC Cream Foundation

I wouldn’t recommend this for people with oily skin but it’s an excellent foundation for people with normal to dry skin.

Yup. After your mineralize skin finish natural, you must pick up a foundation only from MAC. A lot of people find their perfect skintone match. 🙂

Rati – Stop tempting me with all these options..Just when I was thinking I need to get the mineralize skinfinish natural..you post this..damn you girl 😉 I lost faith in cream foundation in cake form after I used a loreal one 🙁 The only thing that’s bothering me with this one is the application method..Its not very convinient , no ?

Rati August 14, 2010 at 9:33 pm

It’s not convenient, I agree. Liquid ones are easier to use but I so love the finish of this foundation. Do try this out. :))

what a beautiful finish it’s given!
i need to pick this up after my select spf 15 gets over. the only problem is, when’s that gonna happen? 😯 i’ve used it so many times yet only 1 cm of the product has been used. i think i’m stuck with this babe for quite a while now. 😛
how long did it take you to finish your mineralize satinfinish?
.-= Rima Kaur´s last blog ..Beneath The Smiles =-.

Reply

Rati August 14, 2010 at 9:35 pm

Half of my satin finish is still left. I’ll be using it in winters. In summers, it used to look shiny But yeah, MAC products take ages to finish up. Dunno it’s good or bad. 😛

Good part is that it’s a part of their permanent line so thank gwwwdd!!!

Rima Kaur August 14, 2010 at 9:38 pm

sometimes i wish they had small sized versions for people like me who don’t get to go out everyday and use their make up just a few times per week.
by the way, i’m thinking of buying another colorsensational.

I never wish that because they are good at reducing the quantity not the price.

he he he…knew it. 😛 Which one are you picking?

i really liked peachy scene and blushing brunette, but i have this feeling that i’ll come back home with something totally different 😛
what’s buzzing in my brain is – should i? shouldn’t i? should i? shouldn’t i? ?:-)

he he they have given us so much choice that we have become so ‘happily ” confused now. 😛

I am happy that I have two of them. Would have definitely bought another had I had just one. lolll!!

Reply

Rima Kaur August 14, 2010 at 10:23 pm

i’m actually confused whether to get a burst or a sensational. the sensationals are more balmy and they have a wider shade selection that’s why they have an edge.

Hey! Rati,
Totally agree with you, I have this one…I simply looooovvvveee the finish… :inlove: I works great for me during the winter 😀 Full thumbs up for this one:yes:

Reply

Rati August 14, 2010 at 9:38 pm

Yeah. It’s working great in summers also. It’s so transferable. Only in the extreme summers of June, i was uncomfortable wearing it but all in all I never have to think twice about how it would look on my skin. 🙂

Reply

Sabrina August 14, 2010 at 9:14 pm

Your skin is looking absolutely flawless with this, Rati. So smooth and natural too. But it’s not for oily skin, as you mentioned, being cream-based. But really, it looks awesome. MAC is MAC. Nothing can touch them.

Rati August 14, 2010 at 9:40 pm

I have found my best bases in MAC , Sabrina. And can’t thank them enough for that. Could never find the exact skin tone match in any drugstore brand.:)

And it the same case with my foundation and pressed powder

btw now i have the satin finish, it seems a bit dark when compared to my shiseido 🙁 god help me! or i need to go out and tan purposefully!

Shwetha, I just spend a lot on my bases and don’t compromise there. Rest I keep picking up from here and there.

Reply

Lavanya Narayanan September 2, 2010 at 3:35 pm

Do you like it more than your Age Renew :-)) ? Have you set it with Skinfinish Natural ? Or is it just the foundation alone ?

How is it that you have such a wonderful skin ? 🙁

Reply

Rati September 3, 2010 at 12:56 pm

I like both age renew and this one equally. Seriously can’t keep one over the other. If you want to know the difference then then age renew is a full coverage foundation and i mainly keep it for special occasions. this I can wear anytime and anywhere . It has never given me a cakey look. And it has a medium coverage.

I take care of my skin. 🙂

Reply

Lavanya Narayanan September 2, 2010 at 3:38 pm

BTW, is the shade the same as SkinFinish Natural Medium Dark ? Also Medium Plus is a shade lighter than Medium Dark right ?

Reply

Rati September 3, 2010 at 12:56 pm

Yup medium plus is lighter than medium dark. 🙂

Hi Nikita,

I guess go for MAC. This doesn’t look cakey at all. But like if you have never worn a foundation before and you don’t know how to blend the foundation at all, I guess lancome would be better becasue it is thin and you wouldn’t have to work to blend it…

Hey…..

Did this foundation oxidize on you at all?

I have the MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Loose Foundation which is basically the power version of this one. I bought one and it looked like I had had a spray tan!

I then went out and bought a lighter shade but it still seems to get really dark after sometime!

The makeup artist at MAC told me that it could be because some of the ingredients in mineral make up are reacting to my skin and oxidizing.

I’ve been mixing the Studio Sculpt with the Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion because even the studio sculpt on its own is too yellow for my skin!

Maybe I’m just doomed not to use MAC foundations 🙁

Reply

Rati November 10, 2010 at 5:51 pm

Hi Reem,a

I have a dry skin so most foundations don’t oxidize on me. You are right about ingredients in mineral makeup part. This foundation is my HG foundation , I have never every faced any problem with it. I recently hit pan on it and if I have to I would always repurchase it. Just that I get bored of my stuff so I mostly try to pick up new ones every time.

I suggest that you try this foundation for a day before purchasing and if you can, try to get a small sample of it. If nothing works, may be you should give another brand a try. I am aware that mac foundations don’t suit everyone. 🙂

Rati…i wil be havin only a day to buy a Studio fix foundation from Mumbai since i stay in surat…..If i try it in the morning n do the rest of the shoppin by day…can i knw within 3-4 hours if it has oxidised or not…coz i cannot go again the nxt day for it…………N dnt wanna spend a bomb n regret it l8r….. :-((

Reply

Rati November 20, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Oh alright. So what you do is that you let the MUA apply foundation all over your face and dust some sheer powder only on the center of your face. This way you’d be able to see if the powder is helping your control the oils on your face and the non powdered part would give you an idea about the oxidisation. Try moving out of the AC area as well because makeup stays put under AC conditions.

You buying a primer? You can also buy Make Up for Ever cream blush if you are going to bombay. 🙂
