Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara

I’m back with another pick from my Make Up For Ever haul!! This time it’s the Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara in black, the waterproof version of the same brand’s Smoky Lash Mascara.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara

Name of the Product: Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara

Cost:  It’s available for approximately 30$ on Amazon.

Product Claim:

• Provides length and volume
• Instantly curls lashes
• Intensely pigmented
• Waterproof formula
• Will not run under extreme conditions like at the beach or in the pool

My experience of Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara:

The mascara comes in a little black bottle (I’m not sure if you call this a bottle). The packaging is almost identical to the Smoky Lash Mascara, but the waterproof nature of this one is highlighted by a blue band near the lid.

Directions of use are to apply a layer of mascara from the bottom of the lashes to the top. Work out the lashes with a slight zig zag movement to separate them and apply several coats to increase the volume.

The wand of the mascara is on the shorter side. Since my current mascara is the Lakme Eyeconic one with the long wand, this one felt a bit inadequate. The bristles are dense and set with little distance between them. Application of the mascara isn’t much of a problem, but the clumping is. My lashes did appear longer and blacker, though not necessary more voluminous.

This is NOT a fast drying mascara, and if you’re in a rush and applying coat after coat in quick succession, you’ll end up with a mess. This mascara requires careful application if you don’t want to end up with spider lashes. This picture below is after just two coats.

As you can see, it clumps like hell, even though my clumpy lashes are now longer :-). All the more since I don’t have naturally long thick lashes. It does help in maintaining a slight curl, and it is definitely waterproof. You can wash your face (with water) and not notice any difference. Also you don’t get raccoon eyes since the mascara doesn’t budge from your lashes. It does come off with makeup remover, but you have to take a little time and effort to do it carefully and gently.

Ingredients: (Information from the Website)

• Film-forming polymers
• Volatile oil
• Beeswax & high-viscosity polymer
• Vegetable waxes
• Bio-Extender
• D-Panthenol
• Fragrance free, natural black mineral pigments

Pros of Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara:

1. Paraben Free
2. Ophthalmologist Tested
3. Makes lashes appear longer
4. Good for curling lashes.
5. Good pigmentation
6. Doesn’t go away on washing face with water
7. Does not give raccoon eyes

Cons of Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara:

1. Clumps easily
2. Not fast drying
3. Not ideal for sparse lashes
4. Tends to give spider lashes if not careful

IMBB Rating: 3/5

Would I recommend/repurchase Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash Mascara again?

No, it doesn’t work for me. It might for someone with denser lashes, though. I personally find the Lakme Eyeconic Mascara easier to apply and with better results.

I think with clumpy mascaras I like to wear them with the non clumpy ones and I feel they give that very smokey night time lashes look. Give that a try. might work!! I kinda like clumpy lashes for night. :D give estee lauder sumptuous volume a try. It’s an awesome mascara. :)
