7 Protein Rich Hair Masks to Treat Damaged Hair

There are three layers in our hair, where the top most layer of hair is extremely important, as it provides protection to the tresses from an environmental factor. When the cuticle area destroys, it leads to hair fall problems and also affects the quality of hair, turning them brittle and dry. When the top layer of the hair is affected, it also allows the hair to lose its elasticity level.


Here are some common reasons for damaged hair;

• Using chemical products.
• Excessive use of styling machines.
• Lack of moisture in the hair.
• Extreme heat.
• Chlorinated water.
• Stress.
• Bad quality of pillow.
• Environmental factors.

Here are some of the protein rich hair masks, to fix damaged hair.

1. Olive oil:


Olive oil is one among the best hair oil, that helps to treat damaged hair. With its major chemical elements like oleic acid, palmitic acid, and squalene, olive oil helps to strengthen the hair and also softens them. Take some warm olive oil and add two spoons of methi seeds to it. Now, leave the oil for some time, until it comes back to normal temperature. Now apply on your scalp and wrap your hair, with a towel for ten minutes. Wash off with a mild shampoo. Repeat using this remedy, for three times in a day.

2. Coconut oil:


Coconut oil contains the right amount of vitamins and proteins, required by the hair. Take some warm coconut oil and add some honey to it. Mix both the ingredients together and apply on your scalp. Wash off with cold water and repeat doing this 3-4 times in a week.

3. Avocado:


Avocado contains an equal amount of proteins and vitamins, that are present in eggs and hence avocado can be used over dry hair. Take one raw avocado and make a thick paste of it. Now apply this mask on your hair and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Cover the hair with a towel for some time and wash off with cold water. Apply this mask for three to four times in a week.

4. Banana:


Banana is one among the best super foods, that can be used to treat dried and brittle hair. Take one ripe banana and mash it with the folk. Mash until a thick paste is formed. Now, add one spoon of coconut oil and one spoon of olive oil. Apply this hair mask and leave it for 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and repeat doing this at least two times in a week.

5. Hibiscus:


Not only hibiscus flower, but even hibiscus leaves help to work as the best hair conditioner for dry, brittle and damaged hair. Take 10-12 hibiscus leaves and mash them adding some coconut oil or olive oil. Now mix some curd and combine them well. Apply this paste on your scalp and allow the curd to sit for few minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and repeat doing this thrice n a week.

6. Aloe vera:


With a lot of vitamin C and vitamin E in it, aloe vera gel is one among the best protein rich hair pack, that can help to fix dry and damaged hair. Regular application of aloe vera gel, helps to keep your scalp moisturized and also maintain the pH value on the scalp. Scoop out some aloe vera gel from the leaves or buy some readymade aloe vera gel from the shop and apply on scalp. Wait for some time, until your hair is dried completely. Wash off with cold water. If needed, add some honey or lemon to make your hair look bouncy and shiny.

7. Egg:


Egg contains vitamin, proteins, and minerals, that help to nourish dry and brittle hair. An egg can help to boost the volume for hair and also help to nourish them thoroughly. Take one whipped egg and add some olive oil to it. Now, apply this on your scalp and wait till your hair gets dried completely. Once dried, wash off with cold water. To avoid the smell of egg, you can add some lemon juice or rose water.
