If you are a fan of romantic eye makeup looks, this review is for you. This product has been in the market for a long time now, but I just recently got my hands on it, and I have been loving it! I am talking about the bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 Eyeshadow Quad in the shade “The Happy Place.”
A quad of pure, intense eye shadows with anti-ageing benefits. BareMinerals READY? Eyeshadow provides exceptionally vivid, long-wearing complementary colors in an ultra-smooth, silky texture for effortless application and seamless blendability. Powered by bareMinerals’ proprietary SeaNutritive Mineral™ Complex along with powerful antioxidants, cold-pressed borage oil, caffeine and cucumber, these ingredients are known to deliver anti-aging benefits including de-puffing and antioxidant protection for a softer, smoother, revitalized eye area. It looks like a powder, but feels like a cream and delivers a beautifully vivid color. It is formulated with parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan.
My Experience with bareMinerals The Happy Place Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 Quad:
Packaging: I love this super compact, travel-friendly eyeshadow quad. It is very lightweight and has a nice-sized mirror and dual sponge tip applicator inside. Though I never use sponge tip applicators anymore and prefer my brushes, but they are still good to have, just in case. The only thing I don’t like is that it has a similar rubberized case like those of NARS makeup and tends to attract a lot of dust and residue. The case does close securely with a click.
Texture and Pigmentation: These shadows are very smooth and buttery. There is no grittiness even in the shimmery shade and they apply beautifully on the lid. These shadows are not crazily pigmented like say Lorac or Urban Decay shadows, but they have just the right amount of pigmentation to give a nice wash of color while still visible yet looking highly natural. They are very easy to apply and blend. There is just a slight bit of fallout especially with the shade “Imagine,” but I always do my eye makeup before my face makeup, so that doesn’t bother me.
Shade: I love the color scheme of these quads. All these 4 colors go so well with each other, there couldn’t have been a better selection. All these colors together give you a beautiful romantic eye look which incorporates colors like pinks and plums which are universally flattering on every skin color and eye color.
Peace (muted apricot): This is a nice matte pale peachy shade. This color is very similar to my skin tone hence I mostly use this to set my primer, to give a natural highlight to the inner corner and brow bone and to blend away harsh edges.
Imagine (rose gold): This shade is an absolute gorgeous color. It is a pink with golden shimmer giving it a rose gold appearance. Applies beautifully on the eyes though the color does need building up. Also it has a bit of fall out. But the effect it gives is so pretty on the eyes. It makes your eyes glimmer and catch the light in the most understated and elegant way.
Exhale (Smokey taupe): This is a matte light smokey grey. This shade works great as a crease color and pairs nicely with the other colors in this palette. You can use this as a transition color or in the crease.
Euphoria (Eggplant): This shade is a bit more complex than just eggplant. It is a reddish burgundy shade with a dark purple undertone and a golden satin sheen. Works great as a outer V shade or if you are bold enough, you can use this as an all-over lid shade to create a purple plum smokey eye.
Staying Power: These shadows wore nicely through the day (about 7-8 hours for me) with little fading. There was no creasing at all. These colors do benefit from a primer underneath to improve pigmentation which I will recommend to use.
In the EOTD, I used “Imagine” all over lid, “Exhale” in the crease, “Euphoria” in the outer V and crease and “Peace” to highlight the inner corner and brow bone.
Overall, a gorgeous palette with very wearable flattering colors and something that be used on its own to create looks or supplemented with other colors in your kit. The quality of the shadows is very good. All of these features sum up to make this quad a must have, especially if you are a beginner and prefer your eye makeup simple yet attractive. I will totally recommend this quad.
