Becca Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid, NARS Radiance Primer, Too Faced Drop Dead Red Melted Matte Liquefied Lipstick Review

Hi Everyone, 🙂

I am reviewing 3 products for you all from 3 different brands (NARS, Becca, and Too Faced). I have used all these 3 products in the look that I created below. So, I thought I’d review all three of them in one post so that you would be able to see them in action along with. 🙂

Becca Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid

Honestly, I had lost all hope in Becca until I came across this product. I did not like the cream version of Becca Champagne Pop, but the liquid skin perfecter is the bomb. It is the prettiest highlighter I have in my collection right now. It’s a warm champagne color highlighter that is perfect for warm/olive skin tones. It’s neither too golden nor too pinky, just enough warm to blend it well with my warm/olive skin tone. It can be mixed with your foundation/primer or used on its own. It’s perfect to use it on its own at the high points of face rather than mixing it with my other face products. The shimmer particles are very small and do not settle in the pores nor do they look chunky.

It gives that beautiful natural glow and you can totally build it up and get a super duper blinding highlight with this one, but I am over the ‘blinding highlight’ phase. I prefer the more “glowing and diffused highlight” look and this is just so perfect. I could just go on and on about how much I adore this product. I have worn it for as long as 9 hours and this has stayed. I mean I checked my highlight at the end of the day and it was there… like may be 20% of it would have settled down but that’s about it. It blends on the skin like a dream. You can use your finger tips or brush to use this. It works well with either plus it is not drying on the skin at all nor does it look crusty when it dries. It’s the most gorgeous glowing product EVER! The only con I would list is that the pump dispenses too much of product in one go. Every time I forcibly end up using more than I have to because I absolutely hate wasting this product. I have become a little protective about it. 😛

I have been using this radiance primer for almost a month now. I took a bit of time to form my opinion about it and honestly, I think I adore it now! Earlier, when I started using it, I was not very convinced if it was adding any glow to the skin, but with a few tests and trials, and using it with different products, I got the hang of it and now, I find myself using it quite often. The trick is not to layer a thick layer of foundation on top of it. In the look below, I have used this primer and a very thin layer of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation on top, and it is working like a charm. Plus it has SPF 35 in it, so it is a fantastic product to use during day time and on a day-to-day basis. You can totally skip your sunscreen and pair this primer with a tinted moisturiser as well.

NARS primer

It would keep your skin looking fresh and naturally glowing. The texture is very light and almost feels watery on application. It is peach in color so it just blends beautifully with our warm skin tones. It goes on transparent on skin and leaves that glow. You can see the glow in pics below. 😀 This is also an oil-free primer, so no clogging of pores. It has that little powdery fragrance to it that is not too bothersome. It does increase the longevity of the foundation. I have worn it for a maximum of 9 hours and my skin did not look bad at all. The glow, the foundation and even a bit of blush was there when I removed the makeup after 9 hours. Both the primers from NARS have been such a hit with me, looks great in photos as well. 😀 I wouldn’t recommend it for flash photos though. I hope they bring these primers in without SPF versions too. Comes in an easy squeeze tube. It’s matte, so very prone to getting dirty. This primer reminds me lot of MAC Strobe Cream in Peachlite.

Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick Drop Dead Red:

I picked up two shades from Too Faced from their “Melted Matte” lipstick range – Evil Twin and Drop Dead Red. I was looking for a deep dark burgundy liquid lipstick and I found this one and I adoooore this. This is my first product from Too Faced and I have mixed feelings about it.

Too Faced Drop Dead Red Melted Matte Liquefied Lipstick

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous. It comes in this clear tube with doe-foot applicator. The gold lettering gives that very cool vibe to it. The color is deep reddish burgundy. It’s nearly a blackish-red color and if you layer it on while the lip color is still wet, it would look quite black. I think it’s a pretty cool color. I love the shade.

The lipstick sets and I found it a bit drying but then almost all liquid lipsticks are. The texture is quite creamy and gives you enough play time to blend and fix the color before it sets. It was fine until 5 hours when I had a few glasses of water, some snacks and coffee(s). 😛 I checked my lipstick in the mirror before lunch and my lipstick looked pretty good. I did a little touch up just on the centre of my lips where sometimes the ring forms because well, I am too talkative and I drink too much liquid. 😛 My lips were a bit dry but that’s alright with me, but then I had lunch and I had some bread dipped in olive oil, OMG! – the lipstick smeared, moved and got patchy. I mean it was quite a mess. I had to remove and redo the whole lipstick. So, that’s a little word of caution especially in India, our Indian food is mostly oily and the oil breaks the formula, but when the lipstick is this intense and dark, the imperfections and the mess shows up really bad. I am sure you can get away with lighter shades but this formula, this color, and oily food – major no-no.

But overall, I looove this lipstick- the color, the formula, the opacity and the lovely packaging, they are all perfect for me. With liquid lipsticks, you definitely should scrub your lips so that they do not accentuate dry patches, but this lipstick does not settle in fine lines and does not feel uncomfortable. It’s a little drying but that goes without saying. It’s matte and it’s liquid …you are inviting double trouble if you have very dry lips. I would definitely check more shades from the range but these would always be on my repurchase list. Love them! 🙂
