I have raved so much about Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors here on IMBB. I decided to add another variant of that to my existing huge highlighter collection. Here is the review of the Becca collab with the talented and gorgeous youtube beauty guru Jaclyn Hill which was initially launched as limited edition, but due to overwhelming demand, has been added to the permanent line. This variant is called “Champagne Pop.”
A creamy powder highlighter that absorbs and reflects light for the ultimate natural glow.
What it does: Find refined luminosity in any light. This best-selling formula is enriched with ultra-fine luminescent pearls that absorb, reflect, and refract light so your natural radiance is never lost. Unlike the traditional pressed powder method which simply mixes and compresses dry ingredients, this unique process blends pigments with proprietary liquid binders, resulting in unparalleled, creamy application with balanced color dispersion. Like a compact full of crushed gemstones, the multi-toned, ultra-fine pigment pearls adjust to your skin’s natural undertones for a truly unique glow. It is formulated without parabens.
My Experience with Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – Champagne Pop:
Packaging: This highlighter comes in a standard rubberized “Becca” packaging which does tend to attract dust and residue makeup from fingers. The compact does close very securely with a click and there is a nice-sized mirror inside. There is no applicator provided.
Texture: The texture of this powder is so smooth, it almost feels creamy. The shimmers in this highlight are very fine and are not gritty. It’s very easy to use, and my preferred brush for highlighting is the Real Techniques Setting Brush, but nowadays, I am also using a fan brush to apply my highlighters and have been loving the ease of it too. This highlighter does not go on uneven or patchy. You just need a light hand and a few strokes of your brush to achieve a goodness glow with this product.
Shade and Pigmentation: The powder version of the Becca highlighters are the most pigmented, yielding more opaque coverage and sheen than the other two versions (liquid and the poured/cream versions). This particular shade “Champagne Pop” does not come in the other two versions. The sheen it imparts is quite strong, almost bordering on frost/metallic. If you like your highlighters to pop, these Becca ones are the best of the best for that. There is no visible chunky shimmer, but it does impart a drop-dead gorgeous sheen on the skin. It is very pigmented hence a light hand is required or you will glow like a light bulb (in the best way possible).
The shade “Champagne Pop” is described as a soft white gold with peachy pink shimmer. I have compared it alongside the shade “Opal” and as you can see, both are very different. “Champagne Pop” has more of a brighter gold look with a noticeable peachy undertone to it. This shade is a lot more similar to Moonstone (which unfortunately I don’t have the powder version, but I do have the liquid one) except the fact that Champagne Pop has more of a peachy undertone to it, whereas Moonstone is a pale gold.
The shade “Champagne Pop” is such a universally flattering shade, it looks good on everybody.
Staying Power: The staying power is impressive. The glow was still very much visible by the end of an 8-hour day for me.
Overall, Becca products, especially her highlights never ever disappoint and this is no exception. If you love to glow, you have to have this in your life!
Pros of Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – Champagne Pop:
- Gives an intense glow.
- No chunky shimmer.
- Does not accentuate pores or cling to dry patches.
- Smooth and silky texture.
- Very good pigmentation.
- A good pick for all skin tones.
- Best highlight in the market.
- Good staying power.
Cons of Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – Champagne Pop:
- The sheen it can yield is quite strong and eye catching, so if you prefer a more natural look, I suggest you look into the liquid version of the product (or look into more natural looking powder highlights from other brands, I recommend Hourglass Strobe Powder).
- I am not a fan of the rubberized packaging which gets dirty quickly.
