I have already reviewed the Second Edition and today’s review is all about the latest edition released by BH Cosmetics. My Experience with BH Cosmetics Sixth Edition – 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette:
The palette comes in a sealed cardboard package. The palette itself is black in color and has a lock mechanism. Once you press this, the lid the opens. This makes the risk of accidental opening of the product to the minimum. The palette houses a mirror but not a brush. There are 2 plates each with 60 shades in the box. They are separated by a thin film sheet. I have kept this sheet to prevent the shades from touching the top. The top plate can be easily separated and the bottom tray is stuck. The package even though looks bulky, is very durable and compact.
The palette has a wide variety of shades which includes the shimmer, metallic and matte ones. However, it is dominated by shimmery ones. The eyeshadows are very soft and have a powdery texture. The texture can make the palette messy while picking it up using a brush. The shades are amazingly pigmented. Just one swipe gives you a bold finish. The colors can be combined to create a unique shade or can be built up to achieve a bold look. The product has a very weird smell to it and it is off putting.
The product blends very well and you can easily lighten or darken the shade. There is fallout during application, so care must be taken to make sure your face makeup isn’t spoiled. I have been doing my eye makeup first and then the face makeup. I can easily create creamy texture by adding a little primer to the product and I can use an eyeliner brush to create lines on my eyes. The pinkish tones can be used as a blush too. There are endless options with this palette.
The colors in the first row on both the trays have very less pigment and are hardly visible on my wheatish-olive skin tone. I have been using the whites as a base, as it helps to pop out the eye shadow. The palette can be an everyday palette as it has a lot of neutral shades. The only bold colors that it houses are the variations of pinks and blues. The product can be a perfect option for creating smokey eye looks! Some of the shades can get pretty pigmented while application and you need to use them correctly under natural light, if possible.
The colors last for a good 4-6 hours on the lids without a primer and around 6-7 hours with a primer and then fade out gradually. The products do not sit on the crease of the eyelids. But, if you have oily lids, there are chances that the product would fade away quicker and thus, proper prepping is needed. The product is affordable and I like the palette. The 2 palettes cover most of my color needs and probably, I wouldn’t be buying eyeshadows very soon.
