My Experience with The Body Shop Lip Juicer Acai, Blueberry and Dragon Fruit:
This wide and chubby lip balm isn’t the first of its kind in the market. EOS is an extremely popular brand producing similarly-shaped lip balms. And recently I reviewed the Trestique Lip Plumper, which by the way I absolutely adore. So, when I saw these online – I was tempted to try it.
Packaging: This is the one thing which really catches your eye. The cute, chubby plastic container is shaped like a crayon. The variant I have has a matte pink base, which houses the lip balm and a purple screw on cap. It looks so cute and chic. You open the screw on cap to reveal the product. Honestly, these are more difficult to carry if you tend to use a small bag – compared to the traditional thin lipstick styled lip balms. When I travel, I generally carry a small sling with me which has limited space. And yet, my love for the Trestique Lip Plumper ensured that it found space inside the bag! So, where there is a will….there is a way.
Fragrance: It has got the most delicious berry fragrance! It actually makes you want to eat it! It is kind of sweet and tangy, and quite strong. The fragrance does not translate to a taste or any residual aftertaste.
I will take up the shade once I have discussed the texture.
Texture: The texture really surprised me. I kind of expected an extremely emollient product – considering it is a lip balm. However, I found the texture fairly hard, not so hard that it dragged on the lips or was difficult to apply. However, hard considering it does not have much slip and was not too emollient. Initially, I did not understand whether this was a product issue or by design. However, the brand does state – “glide easily over the natural shape of the lips, for a non-sticky, comfortable to wear finish.” So, I guess, the brand was going for a non-sticky finish, which results in this texture. So, the lip balm isn’t sticky, isn’t too emollient and does not slip around. It is nourishing and keeps my lips feeling comfortable, but only during the course of wear and maybe an hour or so after. The lip balm feels heavy on the lips – even though it isn’t from the texture perspective. But you don’t forget that you have something on.
Shade: The shade when kind of built up is like a matte, translucent, bright, light to medium cool-toned pink. The shade itself is pretty bright, not lipstick bright, but still clearly visible. It has a stained lip look.
Lasting Power: It gives about 3-4 hours of wear, post which you need to reapply. The more you re-apply – the brighter the stain appears.
My views: I felt a little weird about the product because mentally I kept comparing it to my Trestique and it wouldn’t live up to it. However, as I have used it for a longer time now, I feel this does have a place in my vanity. Apart from the fact that I am reaching for it to reapply during the course of the day, maybe because it’s really cute and smells delicious; I feel it makes for an excellent “under the lip product” balm. Since, the product is harder in texture – a lot of product does not transfer onto the lips. And what does transfer – does not have too much slip. End result, this goes on very well under you matte lipstick or liquid lipstick – coz it does give hydration to the lips without giving any slip to the product being applied on top.

Cons of The Body Shop Lip Juicer Acai, Blueberry and Dragon Fruit:

3.75/5. I bet the brand is looking at the packaging and the fragrance to make these lip juicers like hot cakes. And I won’t be surprised if they do. It sure catches the eyeballs. And the initial reaction to these is what will sell.
