Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick – 08 La Pausa
Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup realized that the generation of women is turning towards lip glosses and lipstick users were lessening . In order to convert the lip gloss users to the lipstick users, he created Rouge Coco that gives the feel of a lip gloss and staying power of a lipstick. He did take the market by storm and I am sure must have converted quite a big number of lip gloss lovers to lipstick lovers.
Accoring to Peter Philips, “ ROUGE COCO fascinates me, because I’ve never seen a texture this comfortable and easy to apply. It’s the ready-to-wear lipstick. Just one sweep over the lips colours them and covers them in a melt-away balm. This is why I wanted the colour palette to be as accessible as the creamy texture. Of course, we have kept the iconic shades – such as Sari Doré, created with the very first launch in 1954, and Rouge Noir, launched in 1996 – but I also wanted to experiment with very subtle variations, half-tones of pink, red and brown.
I like the idea that women from the gloss generation, who are afraid of lipstick, can return to this essentially feminine beauty step with ROUGE COCO. A woman who touches up her mouth with lipstick – what a beautiful sight to see! It changes your attitude. It’s like nail varnish. Your posture seems straighter. You hold yourself differently. Lipstick is accompanied by delicate poise
” What Chanel says about the Rouge Coco Lipstick?
CHANEL introduces a modern interpretation of classic creme lip colour as an homage to the rich life and legacy of ‘Coco’ Chanel. New lightweight lip colour glides on for easy application, and features a Hydratendre complex to help soften, soothe and condition lips – even boosting their ability to hold in moisture – for a plumper, smoother and healthier-looking appearance. A range of wearable shades with full-coverage finishes, from matte to pearl to soft shimmer.
Rouge Coco lipstick comes in a sturdy rectangular black casing, has a golden ring at the and the signature interlocked Coco Chanel’s C is engraved both on top of the lipstick cover as well as on the lipstick. It has a click lock that keeps the lipstick protected and you can carry it around. “It has that “acoustic click” perfected by engineers who worked on the closure system of Rouge Coco. There were innumerable trials, the opening and closing hundreds of tubes to obtain an ideal balance between a soft press on the cap and the sound of the click. This precise detail gives this black case a significant extra touch of luxury.” It’s priced at Rs 1800 (Indian Rupees).
The shade selection is amazing. There is something for every women. You think of it and they have it. You may check all the shade names and numbers HERE . I have a shade 08 La Pausa.
La Pausa is a peachy coral shade with peachy-golden shimmer to it. La Pausa the kind of shade that you can wear easily both during the day and night. Once applied on lips, it comes as a frosted peachy colour. The texture of the lipstick is so light that you would never feel that you have anything on your lips. The colour is pigmented and the staying power is great. Although you wouldn’t mind reapplying Rouge Coco even in a crowded mall (:P) but yes, it does stay for good 4-5 hours.
The lipstick has a faint rosy smell and it goes away once you apply the lipstick. It’s not one of the most buttery- moisturizing lipsticks that I have come across but it’s just so perfect. It’s good enough to retain the natural moisture of your lips and it’s creamy enough to glide easily on your lips.
I think every woman should own at least one Rouge Coco because we so deserve it. 😉 It’s like a dream lipstick where everything is just perfect and you would feel luxurious. Here is the swatch of 08 La Pausa .
There is a shade called Mademoiselle that sells like hot cakes and Chanel went out of stock of it for quite some time. It has been relaunched now. Mademoiselle was fascinated by lipstick to such an extent that Coco Chanel created a creamy stick of lip colour in 1954 that she inserted in a rectangular tube, the exact replica of the N°5 spray bottle. Here is the muse – Venessa Paradis (click to watch the video)
And here is me wearing La Pausa. 🙂
One More.
Have you tried Chanel’s Rouge Coco Lipstick?
If not, you have to try it. 🙂
Note : The product shown in this entry was sent by the company for consideration.

I guess as the years of marriage pass my , that indirect light tends to stop working on hubby. Then only being a loud mouth works. :rotfl:
I must take help from Sanjeev in writing the letter. :rotfl:
Hmmm… there’s a neater way of doing this- tell your hubby that you want to keep yourself busy; if it’s not makeup then you both should bring another aarohan in this world to keep you occupied.
I am sure he would prefer to buy makeup without any protest…. at least for the next two years. 🙂

The trademark Chanel Logo, Peter Philips’ reading of a woman’s mind – need i any more more to buy this! (except that the numbers after the ‘Rs.’ may want me to hold on for a while ;))
And…u look so the urb-indian chic. Also…dont you think this color is a bit too nude for you? nude is good, just asking what u thinks.
No I have nuder nudes than this with me. This is by no ways nude for me. 😛
I feel that im going to convert into a lipstick person soon..!!
Sometime back i went to have a look at revlon colorbursts i was so liking their shades and all but when i applied them on myself i just couldn’t see myself wearing a lipstick.. but i would want something like this which gives the look of a pigmented lipgloss on the lips..!!!
I think you need a personal counseling with Rima and me. 😛
Guess it’s high time you covert. 🙂
i’m getting one for sure! estee lauder’s signature hydra, ysl’s rouge volupte and now this all cost the same! god i think i’m spending too much for my age 😛
lol!! you had been busy yesterday. I was waiting for your comment on this. 😛 I guess now I need to pick up YSL any time soon. :beauty:
yeah i wasn’t online for long yesterday. rouge volupte is a little difficult to digest. most people find that it feathers and does not last long on the lips. however the trick to make this lipstick work is to DAB it on, not swipe it, then to dab it again after a few minutes. a dark swipe with this lipstick will lead you nowhere. the only drawback i see is that the lipstick gets over in the tube pretty soon. maybe that’s because of it’s intense creaminess. i’ll definitely repurchase a different colour. it goes on sheer or opaque, anyway you want!
You know, Rima. I can’t thank you enough for this tip. The Rouge allure lipstick is exactly the same texture that you are talking about and I just couldn’t make it work. And I was not able to figure out the problem with it. I mean the texture, creaminess, shine blah blah everything was just perfect and as soon as I used to apply it on my lips, it used to look drab and i could see that feathering effect. Infact one of these days I was going to write to Chanel people asking them if there is any particular way you need to apply this lipstick. I just applied it exactly the same way you mentioned and it looks like a totally new colour and texture.
Thanks a ton. will review it tomorrow or day after. :-* :-*
awwww you’re most welcome! i’m really glad i could be of help! waiting for the review! :suspense:
Yeah, you changed my whole perception about it. I feel so amazing to use it now. I have tested and tried it a few times for review purposes but I never liked it too much on my lips. Now I can wear it and flaunt it. Yay!! 🙂 :-*
Oooooo….ooooo….ahhhh….ahhhh. I simply love this shade and your review is soooo good, Rati. What a pity this brand is not available here.
I think your shopping list for Delhi is going to be Loooooooooonnngg..
