Lovely hello to all my beautiful friends,
Today, I have got a sunscreen for you all. We know how important sunscreens are. They protect us from the harmful UVA/UVB rays and are the best anti-aging products, but I have always stayed clear of them due to various reasons. First and foremost, no matter which brand I used, they always broke me out. The whitish cast and greasiness was also something that repelled me always. I gave them (or I should say myself) another chance a couple of years back and have been trying out various brands to find out which suits me the best. I have always heard rave reviews about Clinique products. Also that they suit most sensitive skins and is one of Jomo’s favorite brands. 😉 So this time, I tried out a sunscreen from Clinique.
Innovative SolarSmart technology stabilizes high-level protection against the aging and burning effects of UVA and UVB rays. Triggers a repair that helps prevent signs of aging. With solar-activated antioxidants that help prevent visible damage.Gentle enough for sensitive skins. Dermatologist tested. Oil-free.
USD 21.50 for 1.7 fl oz/50 ml.
For sunscreen use:
- Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure and as needed.
- Reapply at least every 2 hours or after towel drying, swimming or perspiring.
- Children under 6 months of age: ask a doctor.
My Experience with Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream:
Clinique broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen face cream comes in a bright sunny yellow colored inverted tube. The cap shuts with a click and makes the tube ideal for tossing in your bag without any worries. The cream is white in color and thick in consistency, but has very light texture, but it spreads well and gets absorbed almost instantly. No whitish cast, no greasiness instantly made it my most fav sunscreen used till date. And most importantly, it did not clog my pores and did not break me out. So totally safe for my super sensitive facial skin. 🙂
The cream is oil free and almost fragrance free. I have super dry skin which turns dry-combination during summers. The SA at Clinique counter told me that this cream alone would not be enough for my moisturizing needs and I should layer it over my moisturizer, but I have noted that using this sunscreen alone is enough. When layered over my moisturizer, it does make my t-zone a bit oily after a couple of hours. That may be the shea butter in the ingredients. According to Clinique, the cream is for all skin types, but after using it, I feel that it would suit dry and normal skinned beauties better.
Clinique broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen face cream uses their innovative SolarSmart Technology to protect against aging and burning effects of UVA and UVB rays. As per the Clinique claims, the cream triggers a repair process to prevent signs of aging and contains solar activated antioxidants that help prevent visible damage.
I stay at home and don’t go out much. SPF 30 is good enough while staying indoors, but I prefer SPF 50, may be that is a mind block. Though it is spring here and it is still cold outside, but the sun is bright and harsh. I went out for a full day in sun and did not tan a bit. 😀 The sunscreen works. 😀
But the sunscreen is not water resistant as it is written on the packaging to use a water-resistant sunscreen while swimming or sweating, so this is definitely not a beach-friendly sunscreen. 😉 But in a good way, it gets washed easily by face wash and water at the end of the day and additional cleanser is not required.
Pros of Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream:
- Sunny yellow tube.
- Travel-friendly packaging.
- Broad spectrum protection.
- Did not break me out.
- Suitable for sensitive skin.
- Does not make face oily.
- No whitish cast.
- No additional moisturizer needed.
- Contains antioxidants to prevent skin damage.
Cons of Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream:
- Not water resistant.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream?
I love this sunscreen. It totally fits my bill. But I feel that it is for dry or normal skin. If you are on the oily side, then it might not work for you. Better test it out at the counter before buying.

Bakuliiiiiiiiiiiii, Clinique, it’s my favorite brand, glad you found the product good. Hey, you should also try the clinique even better compact, he he 😛 thanks for mentioning me :*
Hehe….i would try dat for sure Jomo 🙂
I was thinking just about u when I bought this :-*
Hi, SPF 30 blocks around 96.6% of UVB’s while 50 blocks around 98%. That’s not much of a difference, especially for melanin-rich skin which doesn’t burn easily.
Now UVA protection is a lot more important. These are the rays that tan and age skin. This sunscreen contains 3% avobenzone. That should keep you well protected 🙂
Thanks for the info Ahalya 😀
