I am back with yet another review of a liquid lipstick from a brand that is none other than my favorite at the moment, Colourpop Cosmetics. ColourPop makes such brilliant lip products that I don’t even have to think for a second before buying a liquid lipstick from their online website. All I really do at this point is, open their website, add the items that catch my fancy and just place an order. No jokes!
So the product that I am reviewing today is Colourpop Ultra Matte liquid lipstick in the shade “Perky.” Perky is described as “Perky here, perk there, perky everywhere in this warm-toned muted rose.” The year 2015 has been all about different shades of dusty rose. I personally am totally obsessed with this hue too. So, when I came across the “Perky” on Colourpop’s website and read that it is a dusty rose shade, I knew I had to buy it. So keep reading to know how the shade Perky fared for me.

My Experience with ColourPop Perky Ultra Matte Lip:
Packaging: Colourpop liquid lipsticks come in the standard liquid lipstick packaging that somewhat looks like the packaging of a lip gloss. The glass tube is sleek and comes with a metal brush handle. The applicator brush that it comes with is hassle-free and I personally don’t see any problem with it. All in all, it is a very fuss-free packaging and I have no complaints. The packaging of this lipstick however is a little different. As opposed to how the other liquid lipsticks by ColourPop come in a sleek glass packaging that has a sheen to it, the packaging of this one is completely matte and it looks rather luxe.
Shade: “Perky” is described as a warm-toned muted rose. Perky is shade like none other. I have neither owned a shade like this in the past, nor have I really seen this shade in a similar ultra-matte finish. Perky is one such shade that can be worn all year round and on every occasion too. It’s a muted dusty rose that will complement most skin tones really well and would actually look good paired with all kind of eye makeup. The way I love wearing this lipstick the most is with a sharp winged eye and minimal makeup. If there is one shade that is totally “in vogue” these days, it has got to be Perky.
Texture and Pigmentation: The texture of ColourPop liquid lipsticks is really smooth and they glide on to the lips pretty easily. I usually apply this liquid lipstick in two thin layers and so it applies on to the lips without much creasing and blotchiness/ patchiness. Once dry, these liquid lipsticks feel like you’re not wearing anything on your lips. They dry super, super matte and I love the final outcome once the liquid lipstick has dried. They don’t make my lips dry, I don’t ever need to reapply the liquid lipstick and when I touch my lips, it feels somewhat powdery in texture, but it doesn’t transfer at all. This lipstick is smudge free. The pigmentation is insane. Even if you apply it in thin layers, the lipstick is great in terms of pigmentation. All you need is two swipes to make the color last all day on you. But since this is such a dark colour, I’m sure you can get by with just one swipe of this lipstick too.
Longevity: Thanks to the insane pigmentation and it being a liquid lipstick, this ColourPop liquid lipstick easily lasts on me for 8+ hours and that too with meals in between. And I’m talking about proper meals here. The lipstick just does not go away. It is also smudge-proof and it hardly transfers.
Pros of ColourPop Perky Ultra Matte Lip:
- Pigmentation is superb.
- Cruelty-free liquid lipstick.
- Lasts almost the whole day on me.
- Dries completely matte.
- The shade range is wonderful.
- It’s a really nice dusty rose shade and very much “in” these days. It’s a very trendy shade.
- It’s a very comfortable shade to wear.
- Doesn’t feel heavy on the lips.
- Very affordable.
Cons of ColourPop Perky Ultra Matte Lip:
- I can see some cracks appear in it after a few hours.
- I have noticed that this lipstick does transfer just the slight bit, but not much though.
- Application can be a bit streaky if not applied in thin layers.
- Not easily available, considering you have to order it online.
