Product Purchased by IMBB
Skin Type: Normal to oily, acne-prone and sensitive (tends to get dry patches in winter)
I have earlier tried TriAcneal cream from Avène, and I loved using it. And, I came across this essence last month, while searching out products for uneven skin tone and pigmentation. I was already eyeing on this product and in the meanwhile, I got the opportunity to purchase it through IMBB. Let’s get into the review.

My experience with Eau Thermale Avene Sensitive White Whitening Essence:
Packaging: The essence comes in an opaque, sleek cylindrical pump packaging. It does not have any information in English. The packaging is quite simple and basic, yet very functional. The nozzle does not have any visible opening and the essence oozes from it. The airless pump dispenser makes it sure to not degrade the potency of ingredients. The bottle comes in a cardboard box that houses all the information in both English and French.
Texture and Fragrance: The essence is quite lightweight with thin consistency. It has smooth and creamy texture along with being milky in appearance. It just looks like a diluted version of condensed milk. There is no added fragrance to it, which I adore. I have a sensitive nose and any strong fragrance is hard-hitting for me.
In previous reviews, I have already stated that nearly one and a half month back, I had acne breakouts. They left scars around the jawline and made my skin dull. A whitening product always comes to the rescue for treating uneven skin tone, dull skin and pigmentation. Hence, at that time, I thought of trying out this product. The essence is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and specially formulated with keeping sensitive skin in mind. Thus, I don’t have to think twice before buying it.
I use this essence, both day and night religiously and my skin care regimen is like cleansing-toning-essence-moisturizer/sunscreen. I have been using it for almost 4 weeks now and never skipped any application. For the amount needed, 2-3 pumps are sufficient for face and neck. However, the amount will vary depending upon your skin type. If you have dry skin, you will need more, while oily skin will need lesser amount. The essence is quite rich and makes the skin shiny, if used more than needed. Thus, I take 2 pumps in the day and 3 pumps in the evening. The amount in my palm is exactly what I get after two pumps. During the day, I don’t want any shine to appear on the face while at night, I need extra moisturisation. With two pumps, it makes the skin look a bit dewy which I love and I am sure dry skin beauties will also.
The skin almost feels velvety soft. You can refer to the images to see the finish it provides. It does not make the skin sticky or greasy at all. The essence spreads over the skin very smoothly and gets absorbed into the skin quickly. I don’t have to wait much for the next step of my skin care regimen. In the morning, I top the essence with Lotus herbal UV screen matte gel with SPF 50 sunscreen while at night, I use kaya overnight replenishing cream, but most of the time I don’t use any. As I am using Innisfree jeju sparkling mineral skin, which is already a hydrating toner, thus, the combination of this toner and essence does not let my skin crave for any more hydration or moisture at night. Hence, most of the time I skip off the night cream, but I never skip my sunscreen in the morning. That’s all said about its application.
Coming to its efficacy, the results are just amazing. It is soothing and reduces the redness as well. The essence hydrates, nourishes and moisturizes the skin from within. I didn’t feel any remarkable changes/improvements in my skin within the first two weeks of usage. However, as soon as I entered the third week, my skin showed visible improvements. My skin was having subtle glow and always felt soft and supple. In almost 4 weeks of usage, it has visibly lightened the acne scars. I could say that from dark brown-ish they have turned into something lighter brown-ish. However, they haven’t vanished yet completely. Thus, you have to have a little patience to see visible results and you could expect them anywhere between 3rd and 4th week of usage. However, the essence does not provide any appreciable radiance or glow to the skin instantly. It only made the skin plump and hydrated for the first two weeks. It is the only thing I didn’t like about this essence. When I am using such product, then I can definitely expect my skin to have a subtle glow post application, but it didn’t. Never mind! I could happily look over this con for the pros it has.
The essence never irritated my skin or caused any breakout. With the regular usage, it made my skin softer and smoother, treating uneven patches and improving its texture. There are lesser rough patches over the cheeks and skin is nourished all the time. I also like to mix a little amount of essence to the BB cream. The cream glides over the skin so wonderfully and provides a velvety soft finish. I absolutely love it.
