Skin care is a mandatory procedure to be followed by everyone for blemish-free and glowing skin. We all know about the CTM routine but there are other things to follow apart from CTM routine to add a healthy and youthful glow to the skin. Scroll down to know more about it.
Daily skin care routine:
• Morning routine
Cleansing- Splash cold water on your face and eyes first thing in the morning. This will instantly wake you up and you will feel refreshed. Take your favorite facial cleanser and massage it on your skin to remove dirt and grime from the face. Wash your face after 2 minutes and pat dry.
Toning: Use a cotton ball to apply the toner or spray it as facial mist on the skin. This is very important step. Toner maintains the pH of your skin, shrinks pores and prepares the skin for applying moisturizer.
Eye cream: Opt for a day time eye cream or eye gel so that it is not very heavy on skin.
Moisturizer: Here you have a lot of options:
-Simple moisturizer if you are staying at home.
-Moisturizing sunscreen: This is a 2 in 1 product which moisturizes as well as gives sun protection. A minimum of 20 SPF should be used.
-BB cream: A BB cream is all-in-one product. It is great for summer and feels light on skin. Just apply this and set it with a loose powder or compact and you are done.
-Lip Balm: Last but not the least. Use lip balm with SPF for daytime use.
Now that your skin is prepared you can go ahead and do your makeup.
• Evening routine
Remove makeup: This is the most important step in skin care routine. Use a makeup remover which does not sting your eyes. Please go for quality makeup removers which removes makeup easily and you don’t have to stretch your under eye area or skin for removing makeup.
Cleansing and toning: Should be done as stated above.
Eye cream: Go for a moisturizing eye cream which hydrates your eye area overnight. If you have oily skin, opt for light under eye serums.
Night cream: It is very important to use a different product for night time use. Since this product will work on your skin overnight and will replenish the moisture in the skin. It should be more moisturizing than your day moisturizer.
Lip balm: Use a plain non tinted lip balm for night time use. Also you need a lip balm which moisturizes your lips and fill in the creases perfectly while you sleep; you do not reapply your lip balms once you are asleep.
Weekly skin care routine:
This is very important and most of us do not follow it or we do not have the time to follow it. If you want a clean and clear skin you will have to follow this regimen once a week. This is a weekly deep cleanup routine to be done at home.
Cleaning: Clean your face with a good facial cleanser that is made for your skin type.
Cleansing milk: Now apply milk or cleansing milk on your face and massage it for 5 minutes. Wash your face and pat dry.
Steam: Boil some water in a sauce pan. Remove it from the heat source. Now take a towel and cover your face and the saucepan with the towel such that steam goes to your face directly. Please do this step very carefully. Take steam for at least 5 minutes.
Scrub: Use a scrub which is a microfoliant and does not have very coarse particles in it. Scrub the face gently and do not apply it near your eyes. Wash off with cold water and pat dry. The scrub will remove dead cells and blackheads and provides a nice glow to the skin.
Pack: Use a face pack which is suitable for your skin type. You can also use homemade packs if you want. Leave the pack for 20 minutes and wash off with cold water. Using a pack will reduce the pores and makes your skin tight and youthful. Follow with a toner and moisturizer.
Eye pack: Most of us do not do this step. Yes you need a good under eye pack for removing dark circles and puffiness under your eyes. The following eye packs can be used.
Ground coffee powder and mix it with water/rose water for oily skin and milk for normal to dry skin. Apply it with a brush or ring finger in gentle tapping motion. Leave it for twenty minutes.
Take turmeric and besan, mix it with water, rose water or milk according to skin type. Apply it similarly. Remove this after 20 minutes. For removing it just tap a little bit of water over it and once wet wash off with cold water without stretching the skin. Follow with rose water as under eye toner and an eye cream. You can use this eye mask twice a week for better results.
Monthly skin care routine:
At the end of the month, pamper your skin with a good facial massage. This can be done at home or in a salon. You can either do massage after cleansing your skin with a cleanser or go for a complete cleanup and facial routine for added benefits.
The steps will be similar to weekly routine till the scrubbing but after that you can use a massage-cream and massage it on your skin for twenty minutes. Use circular and upward strokes. Use your ring finger to massage the delicate under-eye area. Use very gentle pressure around eye area. You can see facial massage tutorials also on You Tube to get a good idea for facial massage. After massaging gently remove the cream with a clean facial tissue. Apply a pack for 20 minutes and follow with a toner and moisturizer.
