My Experience with Holika Holika Golden Monkey Glamour Lip 3-Step Kit:
First of all, it is a very fun thing to do once in a while and address certain concerns of lips which are often left uncared for. This kit has 3 steps:
Let me explain one by one:
1st step: This contains a cotton sheet mask for lips. It is quite large for just lips. On wearing it, the part from below the nose to little of your chin is covered too, and that is when I understood the name of the product – “Glamour Monkey.” It did look like a costume for a monkey face. In the instructions, they say that it is an exfoliating pad, and it must be used to clean the lips and exfoliate them. The sheet was wet with serum. It was not runny. I placed it on the lips like I would do with a sheet mask. The serum did not have any smell to it. I left it on for two minutes, and then followed it according to the instructions. I gently used it on my lips to remove dryness. It acted quite well in that part. I then massaged my lips with the remaining serum. At this point of time, the area around my lips felt a little bit tingly. My lips looked well exfoliated – soft and plumped up!
2nd step: The second step was to apply a hydrogel patch for 15 minutes. It took me some time to figure out the contents. The patch was also shaped like lips. It will be suitable for full to medium and thin lips. And the patch is very prone to get torn as I did with my clumsiness. The patch felt cool on touch. It was not dripping with serum. The patch itself was a gel-like structure. This patch too had little to no smell. The patch was easy to place on the lips, but I felt I had to lie down for the patch to keep it in place. It was like having a sheet mask on. Slowly the tingling sensation on the lips left. After removing the patch, my skin still had the same appearance that it had after step 1, but it was feeling softer.
3rd step: The third step is applying the lip essence, and massaging it onto the lips. The essence was thick and brown in colour. It smelt like a mix of honey and pain balm. It had a lot of essence, and only a small amount was required for my lips. It got absorbed well on to the lips, and on adding more essence on to the lips, it felt like a lip butter. The 3 step lip kit was a fun thing to do, but it did its job too. I like the exfoliating pad the best. While using lip scrubs, the harsh granules were a little painful on the lips, but this pad was easy to use, and did better exfoliation. After the 1st step, my lips sprang back to life.
The second and the third steps were to hydrate and moisturize. That could very well be done with honey alone, which is easy to find.
Overall, the lip kit removed the dryness, hydrated it, and plumped it a bit. The plumpness could be solely due to exfoliation step. This kit will come in useful if you are going for a special event, and you have a gorgeous lip shade to wear. It will prep and plump the lips in a matter of few minutes.
