Homemade Green Tea Ice Facial with Essential Oils and Toner

Dear Beauties,

Today, I am going to share with you the recipe and procedure of one of the best facials I have ever had! Let me share a secret with you all about my facial skin.  No matter what kind of facial I do, I never get that glow on my face! Even after doing a facial, there is absolutely no visible difference on my face.  In fact, I sometimes feel parlor facials actually make me look more dull and oily 🙁 So, I always prefer to use homemade face packs with natural fruits and veggies.  The facial which I will be showing you all is Green Tea Ice Facial using Tea Tree and Lavender Essential Oils. I have been using this method since a few weeks and experienced big difference in my skin.

We all are aware of the health benefits of Green Tea, but let me share with you some skin benefits of green tea.

  • Studies shows that green tea protects from our skin from cancer and harmful sun rays.
  • Green tea also helps in anti ageing.
  • Green tea has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which helps our skin from premature ageing, wrinkles, age spots, etc.
  • Green tea appears to exert sun damage protection by quenching free radicals and reducing inflammation.
  • Green tea also helps in healing sensitive and irritated skin.

Let’s look at some benefits of Tea Tree and Lavender Essential Oils.

Homemade Green Task Ice Facial

Tea Tree – Tea Tree essential oil is best known as a very powerful immune stimulant. It can help to fight all three categories of infectious organisms (Bacteria, Fungi, and Viruses), and there is evidence that Tea Tree oil massage prior to an operation may help to fortify the body and reduce post-operative shock.  Used in vapor therapy, Tea Tree oil can help with colds, measles, sinusitis and viral infections. For skin and hair, Tea Tree has been used to combat acne, oily skin, head lice and dandruff. As essential oils have become more accepted by the public, the use of Tea Tree has increased significantly. This can be readily evidenced by the commercial products now using Tea Tree essential oil.

Lavender – Lavender Population is credited as being an analgesic, anticonvulsive, antidepressant, antiphlogistic, antirheumatic, antseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cordial, cytophylactic, decongestant, deodorant, and as a diuretic. This lavender is grown at a high pristine elevation over 3,500 feet, creating a highly exotic and complex lavender oil. Mellowed by the long daylight hours in high latitude, moderate rainfall and sandy soil, this lavender rivals the best of the world’s great lavenders. Herbalist regards Lavender as the most useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes. Lavender is the essential oil most commonly associated with burns and healing of the skin. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties that will ease the pain of a burn and prevent infection. It also has cytophylactic properties that promote rapid healing and help reduce scarring. The scent of Lavender is said to have a calming effect on the body and it can be used to reduce anxiety, stress and promote sleep.

My Experience with Homemade Green Tea Ice Facial with Essential Oils and Toner:

I have combination skin which turns oily around the nose and dry near mouth area. Though I don’t get acne or pimples any more, but I often used to get zits! Yes, those ugly little zits never left me alone and I always had at least 2 to 3 on my face. Once I started doing this facial, my zits have disappeared! Yes, I don’t have a single zit/pimple on my face! YAY!! Even during that time of the month when usually I get at least one pimple, this time for a change my face remained pimple free! I use the combination of tea tree and lavender as tea tree and lavender are strong anti-bacterial and fight against the germs and help in healing the skin faster. Lavender is amazing at soothing irritated skin. It also helps in healing scars. When used on a continuous basis, I have seen reduction in my pores as well.

If you have any extra liquid left over, store it in an empty spray bottle and this can be used as a toner or even face spray.

I store my toner in fridge for that extra cooling sensation 🙂 You can use any combination of essential oil until and unless they are compatible with each other. Yes, before using any combination of essential oils, make sure you check their compatibility, not all essential oils are compatible with each other and hence may cause side effects. Also, essential ols should never be used alone on skin except for a few exceptions like tea tree and lavender. Essential oils are to be used along with any carrier oil like almond/coconut/apricot, etc.

More reviews coming up on EOs in future, so stay tuned 🙂

I would recommend this facial to everyone, especially those who have acne0prone skin. Do try it yourself and share your experience!

  6. Wonderful idea, Parita! I always face a few zits in the summer. I am definitely going to try this method and hope my results are as good as yours. 😀 By the way, when you rub that cube all over your face and let it melt, do you then wash the thing off? Or does it get absorbed into your face without leaving any residue?

  7. Thanks for sharing this 🙂
my face is suffering badly from acne these days 🙁
i sure need to try this..it’s all natural 🙂
i just want to know where can i purchase these oils from ?

  8. I once used green tea ice cubes to tone my face but never thought about adding essential oils. Thanks for this post, it may be a boon for my oily skin. Lemme try..

  9. I totally agree with green tea being excellent for the skin. I too keep making a green tree-cider vinegar-rose water-TBS aloe vera toner concoction every once in a while and store it in an old rose water spray bottle in the fridge..Keeps great for ages and has improved my skin’s texture 🙂

  10. I’m surely going to try this. My skin has gone into overdrive these days on oil production and I can definitely sense how soothing and helpful this will be. Very nice, thank you, Parita.

  11. Wow Parita… This is so awesome… Perfect solution for the Delhi summer… Will try it at the earliest !!! Thanks for sharing it 🙂

  12. I will make this as soon as possible Parita! Tea tree really suits my skin n also Lavender. I have heard so much abt Greaan tea being a good toner, but I’d NEVER have dreamed of such a wonderful recipe. Do u follow this up with moisturizer?

    1. I use the ice cubes everyday in the evening after cleansing my face, I also use it in the morning though not everyday only when I feel my face needs a bit lift up 🙂

  13. I made this and used it and the effect on my face is unlike any facial!! Since I’ve been using it, I have seen a marked reduction in zits on my face. The rest I am using as a toner and I must tell its its become my HG toner! Never again will I need to buy toners from the shop! And its so easy to make, a boon for lazy bums like me! 🙂 Loved it. Thanks again!!

  14. Hi, I managed to get tea tree oil at body shop but could not find lavender oil anywhere. So, I made the whole thing minus lavender oil ( hope that is alright). I applied it on my face last night. But after I woke up this morning, i noticed redness on my face…. I am a little worried. I hope its just temporary 🙁 I have applied some lacto calamine to sooth it for now. Just want to ask you if i should continue using the pack or I should add lavender oil to it first. Please help 🙁

    1. hi shivi..may be you added a lot of tea tree oil? tea tree oil is very strong n hence i use lavender with it since lavender oil is soothing on skin..i suggest you reduce the quantity if tea tree oil and first check if your skin is sensitive towards tea tree oil or not
