Today, I am reviewing Lakme 9 to 5 Naturale Gel Kajal in the shade Black. Lakme has launched a lot of new stuff in the ‘Aloe Naturale’ range and the aloevera-infused products are quite interesting. Now, let’s get into the details.
Price: INR 400 for 3g
Lakmé Naturale presents the first-of-its-kind gel kajal, infused with aloe vera and and calendula oil. It lets you create a deep, intense look every day. The Naturale Gel Kajal Applicator is like a magic wand that helps create a defined look, with an intense black finish.
Intense black pigments give your eyes a spell-binding look. The gel kajal’s natural aloe goodness helps protect your look from city pollution.
My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Naturale Gel Kajal Black:
The entire range of ‘Aloe Naturale’ comes in beautiful eye-catching green and rose gold packaging. This gel kajal also comes in a pretty green box with the detailed information. The kajal comes in a mini clear plastic pot with a rose gold cap. It looks like a glass jar but actually it’s not.
I really like this lightweight mini pot and the box contains a mini applicator brush too. The fine flat thin tip helps to achieve the perfect thin to thick lines easily without much effort. I like how effortlessly it goes on my eyelids. But due to its small wand, some might find it difficult to hold. Also, I have to dip it again and again to pick the kajal. It doesn’t pick enough amount at once. Otherwise, the packaging is so satisfying for the affordable price rate.
They only have the shade black which is a beautiful deep black kajal and the shade is well pigmented. This shade looks nice on the eyes and is a very pretty black for creating bold makeup looks. I require two strokes to get the intense look. Sometimes, I need to layer up the pigmentation, but still, it works well.
Since it’s a gel kajal, it has a perfect soft creamy texture that glides smoothly on the eyes without any tugging. It goes on effortlessly and gives a flawless even look as well. I can easily draw a perfect winged line. It won’t dry out quickly so I can even correct the line or set the line too. I can even apply it on my waterline without any irritation. If I want I can blend the kajal as well to get a smokey look. It works nicely as the base for my smokey eye makeup.
The formula is very smooth and creamy and feels light and non-patchy on the eyes. Hence, it takes time to set completely; after few minutes, it sets well to a velvety matte texture and doesn’t transfer to the lids. The formula contains aloe vera which never makes it feel dry; it keeps the lids moisturized throughout the day. It’s perfect for the dry lids.
Though the formula doesn’t smudge automatically it is not completely smudge-proof or transfer-proof. It does smudge if I rub my eyes or after a few hours when my lid gets oily it does look a bit faded but never looks messy or bad on the upper lash line. On the upper lid, it doesn’t transfer automatically, but on lower lash line, it smudges a bit by the end of the day. Wish it had that perfect finish too. It also spreads from the corners due to my super watery eyes but it’s a waterproof formula that doesn’t melt.
The kajal stays intact for around 5 hours nicely, and after that, it starts to look faded and messy on the lower lash line. On my waterline, it lasts around 3-4 hours and then it starts to fade. I always have to set my corners. Maybe due to the hot weather, it works like this. But on the upper lash line, it performs well and survives a good time without creating much mess. Hence, it’s easy to remove with a good remover wipe or with an oil-based remover and it never irritates my sensitive eyes.
Overall, it’s a pretty black kajal that looks beautiful and the formula is easy to use as well. Wish it had better staying power and I could use it as a long wear kajal, but no, it’s not the best option. But I like its bendable formula that I can use according to my choice.

Will I Recommend/Repurchase Lakme 9 to 5 Naturale Gel Kajal Black?
Well, if you want a budget-friendly gel kajal then it’s a nice one to buy. But if you already have a good quality gel liner, then you might find it a bit less in quality. I always prefer my gel liners to last throughout the day like the Maybelline Gel Liner or L’Oreal Gel Liner. So, I might not repurchase it.
