Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 Review

Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25

Hi IMBBians 😀

This is my first review on this rather enlightening blog – a blog which customizes the reviews in the view of whether it would suit the Indian women of today – since we all know that our country is full of diversity and Indian Makeup and Beauty Blog simply adds more paint to that canvas 😀

Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25

Okay, so I am going to review the Lakme Absolute Intense White Skin Cover with SPF 25 (phewies, yeah I know the name seems longer than Homer`s poems )  and it is in normal human comprehensible language -a foundation – a water-based oil-free whitening (has vitamin B3) and if you still cannot believe your eyes (all this from our sweet old Lakme? ) with SPF 25.  Yes, so the next question would be – does it suit oily skin ? you bet and dry, yeah it can manage normal to dry skin as well.

Lakme Absolute Range

What the Company Claims about Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25:

Lakmé Absolute – Lakmé’s high-performance, long wear make-up range, which lasts up to 16 hours. “The looks from the Absolute cosmetic range are of international standard and akin to it is my creation for this season, which is hi-tech, high- fashion, sophisticated and contemporary.” says the popular fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

Ingredients:

Not mentioned on the package, even the website isn’t updated yet.

Lakme Absolute Foundation

Finish:

Satin or semi-matte, it doesn’t get oily anytime soon neither is it a no-nonsense matte finish, its somewhere in between.

Price:

Oh yeah price is 575 INR :D, pretty affordable if you consider the amount they had spent to create the hoopla in order to promote this foundation 😛 and yes I think its value for money.

My Take on Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25:

Alright, my experience with foundations by far has been as ridiculously varied as the costumes of clowns in age-old circus shows. I have gone from an orange undertone to an intensely pink undertone to a brownish undertone – and just when I was about give up my hopeless search for the right undertone (which is yellow by the way) 😛

Here is two of my picks for the wrong shade 😀 yeah, poles apart, aren’t they 😛 (L’oreal True Match in N7) and (Maxfactor lasting performance in Soft Beige – I loved this one but for the shade).

Foundations

Well, I noticed that Lakme does have my shade, but not the right product till I came across the newly-launched lifesaver, sounds-too-good-to-be-true Absolute range. Yeah, so what if am a gawky 17-year-old who has changed (facial) colours faster than a traffic signal (my veins look green 😛 ), but I am getting there 😛 😛 yup :P, I love reading the reviews of IMBBians and nearly hop all the way to the moon when I get a reply back to my rather awkward comments :D; MAC-queen Rati-di`s (yeah Alexander McQueen can’t sue me) posts, radhika-di`s rib-tickling self-directed jokes (and I strongly agree with her not wanting to be a 100-year-old wrinkle-free acne-marked woman) and with whose skin type I can totally identify :P; Deeptima’s serene eyes and all those innovative looks posted by every other IMBBian, enlightened me more than the peepal tree did to His holiness Gautam Buddha, trust me. 😛

Okay, so here comes the swatches, since I tend to go wildly off the topic 😛

Lakme Foundation

Hand without makeup, only a primer, tried the milk of magnesia (yeah that laxative 😛 but it works amazingly for oily skin), ut wouldn’t prescribe it for dry-skinned people. Also, for teens 😛 the Maybelline primer is an affordable and okay alternative.

Foundation

I hate moisturizing my hand :P, so yeah, there are a few fine lines visible, but I did that deliberately so you can see how the foundation smoothes out the lines and compensate for the lack of moisturizer, (but do moisturize before you put on your foundation, that’s a cardinal rule).

Blended

Blended well and oh yes, I have these miniscule white pigmentation spots on my skin as innumerable as the spots on a cheetah, due to long hours spent under the sun, I love swimming and other sports 😛 ), so those have been covered as well.

Foundation Blended

My hands are extremely tanned, but still in darkness, it blends with my tone and doesn’t look ashy.

With flash, in darkness – doesn’t look unnatural – blends with the skin tone.

Arja

This is my look with the absolute skin cover, Lakme Sugar Blossom (Enrich Satin Range), applied lightly on the lips and blue shadow around the edge of the eyes, for a party I dressed up for and I used some of the Chambor silver shadow compact to set this foundation, its not necessary, but I did it to make the makeup last longer.

Pros of Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25:

  • To be honest, this foundation is definitely worth a try because it might just suit you .The terms white intense, Vitamin B3, water based, yellow undertone (they have pink-based tones as well but I mentioned yellow as majority of Indian women have yellow undertone ) in the same line as 575 INR can be hard to resist :P.
  • Good chance of finding your shade, as the foundation even if it is a shade lighter adjusts to your skin tone (this is shade 01, a shade lighter than my skin tone, but as I showed it suits me well).
  • Doesn’t break me out.
  • The 16-hour stay :P, well, it definitely stays on the skin for a long time, say 6-7 hours without needing touch-ups (almost like my Maxfactor Lasting Finish),  well, the rest of those 9-10 hours, you might have to touch up with some compact, that’s all.
  • The packaging, it’s steely, but made of plastic 😛 but it looks all glass and metal, looks classier than other Lakme foundations 😛
  • Portable, travel friendly and with a pump 😛 :D, which incidentally gives you just the right amount to cover the face.
  • I love the way the plastic mists over when I take it out of the refrigerator, yeah it’s an age old habit, I love the coldness of the cream-like texture when I use it, usually during summers, but its really not a pro. 😛 just my personal whim 😛
  • Medium-to-full coverage, buildable, does not cake, super blendable (imagine L’oreal true match without the oiliness), not drying on the skin like the Revlon Colorstay either.
  • Vitamin B3 improves skin tone with regular use.

Cons of Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25:

  • Well, the smell is kind of citrusy, very unlike the smell in most foundations I have encountered, not a con for me, but for those who can’t stand citrusy smell, it might be a problem for them, but then it fades away pretty quickly, so if you can hold your breath for sometime or so 😛
  • No ingredient list as such, very little description on the bottle.  No outer packaging like a box or anything.
  • You cannot see how much foundation is left as the container inside the plastic covering is silver and opaque, you have to judge by the weight then.
  • Not much product in it, only 15 ml.

Well, that’s about it, this doesn’t have to be the HG foundation (yeah, I am learning fast, ain’t I 😛 ), but it surely can be a foundation for daily use or even for occasions and for those who love light foundations with some benefits and decent coverage, that too water based and with SPF (radhika-di you can pretend you are wearing sunscreen with this on 😀 ), well this can be your daily dab-on foundation :P, I personally loved it and if Lakme doesn’t come up with anything even more wonderful, maybe I would repurchase this.  If classy (slightly healthy this time ) Kareena didn’t advertise it enough, well here is me a much much lesser known individual whose vote the Lakme Absolute Skin Cover has got 😛

Oh yes, I got a compact two-way mirror as a gift from Lakme in lieu of my purchase of this and a lip shade (^_^)

I am so proud of lakme now..they are finally delivering better quality . Havent seen the range here ,as of yet..but I am definitely picking up some stuff :happydance:

  8. @jomol-di 😛 Yes and it has lots of yellow in it too shade 01 and some others – which we love 😀 Goldielocks is out – goldieface is in :pompom: :pompom:

@Fahee : you think ? 😀 *melts faster than tbs body butter on skin * :thanks:

@shanaiia – :thanks: yes its a promising product 😀 you should give it a ‘swatch’ if u pass by the counter sometime 😀

@nids – hehe yes kiddishness is just a mode i switch into sometimes 😛 hopefully it`ll transform into a humorous touch to my personality 😛

@flygirl – good photography`s mostly about angles isnt it 😛 but maybe isnt ‘absolutely’ impossible :P:thanks: :thanks: :preen: hehe i actually dnt preen much but i just cant help but try out these variety of smileys you have here on this blog 😛 so amusing and so super cool :stars:

@srishi – they do have rosy pinky as well as beigy shades as well 😛 but when i saw the yellow toned one – i behaved worse than a thirsty mollah stranded on a desert 😛

  9. @Rati – di – Yes i do have a addiction to sketching – this one`s supposed to be aishwarya rai bachchan – in her mid thirties – and hopefully looking a li`l more human 😛 Its done in charcoal and i actually used a nova hairspray (which is totally unusable on hair btw 😛 :yikes: ) as a fixative – and it worked :woot:

    1. itsss aweeeeeeeesomeeeeeeeeeeee :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

  10. Hi….I am new to this blog(posting-wise…..I have been lurking unnoticed reading reviews here for nearly an year now 😀 )……..anyway….Arja…I agre with every single thing you said about IMBB…its such a nice place to be….feels like home  ….and I LOVED your humour….made me laugh out loud a couple of tyms
Oh and yeah….now I HAVE TO try out this product….oily skinned ,yellow undertoned,alwyays-on-the-lookout-for-light-foundation, I need a foundation which hides the many imperfections but doesnt make me look too made-up…..I am gonna get this on my next trip to the mall 😀
Oh and yeah….me in total love with smileys too :yahoo:  :star:   heheh….even though i stopped being 17 some tym back 😐

  11. and i forgot to mention….one thing that did make me laugh out loud was that trigonometry furmula sheet under your swatched arm 😀 (math and makeup-thats my life too 😀 ,:P )

  12. Oopsii – you are so like me!!! what are you ,characteristically my doppelganger? 😛 oh yes even i used to be a reader of the posts of imbbians – a silent reader but trust me i have never really felt insignificant as imbbians take note of every new user as they come 😛 that was a misconception even i had about a few months back
Ohmigosh ,trigo`s stuck on my wall 😛 thats a procedure i had adopted to stick them on the ‘tips of my fingers’ technically 😛 yes maths and make-up – isnt it some combo? lakme isnt the only one experimenting here 😛
Yes i have had my fair share of wild-experimentation-gone-wrong-with-foundations but following up on these ladies i barely know anything about – but then know mostly all their whims and skin requirements (how oxymoronic isnt it *oopsiies* 😛 ) cause i ahve been following their comments and always wondered what it would be like to post on this blog and to get some smileys in the comment section for my own keepsakes ! (^_^) :high5: :high5:

  13. :thanks: :ratidi and visakhi-di …sometimes sketching calms me down (all of my sketches arent that hypnotically great but just like in the case of makeup am kinda getting there !!with more practise and trial and error and loads of imbb 😛 ) after all both are art – one on canvas which metaphorically translates into the face and body in the case of makeup

  14. Lol…think about it-if you are perfect in math and makep-you can pretty much rule the world 😉 hehehe….
ooh ya linguistically and skin-type wise we do seem rather similar….with an age diff of 5 years(gosh, i feel old 😐 )…your use of the word ‘doppleganger’ reminded me of the Vampire diaries soap….and then i remembered Twilight-breaking dawn has jus released….i gotta go watch it 😀 (even though i prefer books to their big-screen versions anytym……)…..see….even i have this habit of digressing off-topic….lol….anyway….nice ‘meeting’ you…..keep the reviews flowing 🙂

  15. hahaha oopsie ,coincidences such as this bring alive the otherwise mundane scenarios in daily life doesnt it 😛 You do need to do the math if you gotta maintain a decent bank balance and a gorgeous collection of makeup 😛 (read highend 😀 ) so am sure its something everyone pretty much knows how to figure out 😛 old at 22? what babies are born at an age of -10 or something nowadays? 😛 😛 yeah yeah its a mathematically incorrect joke i know 😛 Sure maybe you can keep up posted too – since renesme`s on her way to the series 😛 I share a rather love-hate relationship with these series 😛 but yea – cinematically i hope it doesnt disappoint :phoolan: :phoolan:

  16. Arja, yours is a very well written out review, I thoroughly enjoyed reading you. thanks 🙂 I want to know if this shade would suit me. well, my skin tone is neither close to porcelain nor medium beige. it’s between the two.like just about to tan kinda look.i could be tan one day and not the other….hope am not confusing you. just wanted to know if this shade 01 would suit me. from your pics we seem to be the same skin tone.
oh and that’s Aishwarya Rai that you drew…..very nice.

  17. :yahoo: :pompom: I loved reading your review,Arja! Very entertaining!
And this seems so awesome! Definitely going into my list of ‘Foundations o try’
    :preen: :preen:

  18. @ Vid – You surprise me. 😛 Not many girls give compliments to each other you know especially if they are strangers to each other:D 😀 That is why an extra truckload of :thanks: :thanks: to you :yahoo: :yahoo:
thanks for giving my review a read O:) O:)

  19. @bhumika -Yep you just echoed my thoughts 😛 yes i did and guess what i found 😛 a very ornate logo of unilever`s U – so i U-turned back to the original one which was more informative hehehe okay seriously speaking the back sticker contained the logo, the manufacturer`s name, and the mfd on.. and batch no. info ..nothing on the ingredients :waaa:

  20. @praseena : i wish i could see a full-blown pic of yours to get an idea of your skintone – but i can only see a miniature ..but yes if you say its close to mine then shade 01 might suit you
-if it doesnt then you can try the shade 03 (the second yellow undertoned shade – i think lakme alternated the pink and yellow undertones ) – do try at the counter and you`ll get an idea..i wish lakme would update its site – then you couldve atleast seen the shades – but they do have a variety of shades- you can definitely try them and see O:)
-but if you have darkened a bit say, a week after, you might not be able to thicken the coverage – then it might look cakey and whitish on the tanned skin
    – but if you put on a light application (one pump as i do generally ) then it adjusts to the skin tone despite being a shade lighter.
    – another alternative is to buy two shades of the foundation (same undertone of course ) one for your lighter tone days and one for darker or mix the two up for the right shade
    – the other more sensible option would be to keep some colour correctors handy – nupur-di reviewed some nyx colour correctors which look so useful
    – and now i hope i am not confusing you 😛 :stars: :stars:

    1. wow! that was so useful!!!! and made like super sense to me. never thought so much regarding foundation but I am getting it, will read this comment again to absorb all the knowledge you have packed in here. thank you so much!!! currently, am back to being non-tanned again, i believe the 01 should suit but like you said i shall go check it out armed with all this info and attack :yahoo:
thanks for such a detailed explanation, you are truely awesome. :thanks: :thanks: :rose: :rose:

  21. @Pragnyadeepta – you`ve got a beautiful name- it means lit up by the glow of knowledge isnt it? – O:) – Its great to know you liked my review – hope the product suits you :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

  22. @praseena : Glad to know you found the info helpful. i am glad to be of assisstance. thanks for giving my review a read 😀 :haanji: :haanji:

    1. It`s a good one , but only if you are a fair to medium shade , otherwise the duskier women might find an unflattering white cast as this range doesnt offer too many shades in the darker side. Get the Wet and Dry compact if you have very very oily skin though. This doesnt look bad in flash photography provided you blend it well and do not overdo it. You cannot build this foundation up too much , its better you use a concealer underneath it and apply this on top , you`ll GLOW. 😀

  23. I tried 05 beige honey shade is this range but my face looked white washed….it wasnt my colour. Any suggestionz which could be my colour
