Lakme Nine to Five Day Perfect Lip Color Almond Ice
It has been ages since I wanted to lay my hands on these and then I heard that these are too dry. To top it all, my Absolute Range Matte Lip Color in Classic Rose was way too drying for me, which really made me rethink on getting these lipsticks, but remember, my absolute one said matte, and these Nine to Five regular ones do not say matte and hence there can be some benefit of doubt and I was right!
Lakme Nine to Five range was released long back and this new version in day wear was a new collection which I had not tried yet. Now, the Absolute Range has come up with matte and other range with a similar grey packaging keeping in line with the Lakme Long Stay lipstick trend of long, slim, and sexy packaging.
This Day Perfect Lip Color has many colors to drool over with shimmers, matte, sheer, and crème finishes. I believe the one I got is in crème finish and almost matte finish, but it has almost invisible silver specks of sparkle, which really do not bother me at all considering I am a matte and cream lover. The lipstick texture is incredibly smooth and pigmented and glides on very softly. The color payoff is good and I really like these kind of brick-based browns. The color is more like my other Nine to Five that I had reviewed shades like Mocha, Earth, etc., are on similar lines, but this one is softer and with little specks of shimmer.
Now, regarding the staying power, which is the punchline of the lipstick Nine to Five, I would say I am not disappointed with the staying power. I wore it at around 12 noon and then ate, went out, took a shower with the lipstick on :stars: and the lipstick had started fading from the centre of my lips around 4 or 5 in the evening I believe. When it fades, it leaves silver spakles and I don’t know what to say about that. So, a good five to six hours or faint color is fine. Obviously, it does not live up to the Nine to Five claims in one single swipe.
To top it all, it is NOT at all drying on me. I was so surprised as I find the previous Nine to Five a little stiff and the new Absolute Matte a drying disaster, but this one was not as drying, but I must say that it settles in lines and makes lips appear dry, but I did not find it uncomfortable. The look of the faded lipstick appears dry.
The packaging is a shiny, gorgeous silver purple and I quite like it. The flat top of the lipstick is again my favourite and the smooth application is really to my liking, you can go with one swipe if you don’t want it too brown. It would look like an orange-based brown in one swipe, but more than that, I can look like a soft brown.
The only problem with this one is that I find it sticky even after a few hours of application. Ideally, it should dry set, but this one feels sticky. It does not set and fade into silver sparkles. Also, it appears dry as in your lips would appear dry and matte, but the lipstick is not uncomfortable at all!
Last Word on Lakme Nine to Five Day Perfect Lip Color: Almond Ice:
It’s a long-staying, non-drying, soft, creamy and pigmented lipstick. One can barely see the faint shimmer in it. For the price of 550 rupees, I do not recommend this particular shade. The choice is also very limited I think and mostly matte finish may be with some mild shimmer (can’t call it a shimmer lipstick though). Please see L’oreal Color Riche Creme Lipsticks and others before spending 550 rupees on these sticky, matte-looking common shades. Its not a bad lipstick, but nothing unique either.
