A little bit of intro to my exposure to beauty blogs. I’m a software professional. I never thought I would write a review on blog, few weeks ago. I was surfing to find out the review of “Lakme Eye artist” and ended up in a beauty blog. I started surfing all the blogs mentioned in that link and finally caught up at “Indian makeup & beauty Blog”, which I found very interesting and informative.
Here is my review on the “Lakme Sun Expert Cucumber & Lemon Grass Fairness Sunscreen With SPF30 PA++ “, which I got a few weeks back.
Price: Rs.195 for 55 ml
The reason for me to buy Lakme Sun Expert Sunscreen:
- I was running out of my Lakme Peach & plum moisturizer which I liked .
- Summer’s here in Bangalore and I wanted a better sunscreen (Though the only time I spend in sun is when I commute to office, which is hardly 10 min) and
- I have a combination/dry skin and that made me to pick this Normal to dry sunscreen.
What Lakme claims:
New Lakme Sun Expert Cucumber & Lemon Grass Fairness Sunscreen with SPF 30 PA++ is designed to provide broad-spectrum UV protection while hydrating your skin. While SPF 30 products are know to block up to 97% of UVA rays that cause sun burns, PA++ provides protection from the harmful UVA rays that cause dark spots, premature aging and skin darkening. Formulated with Cucumber & Lemon Grass extracts this easy absorbing sunscreen moisturizes and lightens skin, making it look more even and translucent.
- Dermatologically Tested
How to apply:
Smooth onto face and other exposed parts of the skin at least 20 mins before sun exposure. Give it a minute or two to be absorbed before applying any make-up on it. Reapply every 3-4 hrs if needed.
The texture of the sun expert cream is quite thick. The packaging worked for lore thin Peach & plum moisturizer but makes it difficult to get this one out of the container. I had to squeeze the bottle harder to get the cream out on my very first use :(( I’m sure I can’t get the product out when it is half way done.
And It becomes hard to blend the on very dry skin. So I tried applying on a damp, just washed face which made it a little easy to apply.
I used to dot it all over my face and neck and then blend well. On applying it gives a white ghostly look even after massaging for more time . A little more product can make you look like you have some white layer on your face.
Coming to the hydrating part. I have dry skin around my mouth and at the corner of my nose. This cream doesn’t moisturize those area at all. I get patchy skin few hours after applying. Skin doesn’t feel soft after applying this. And any makeup worn on top of that becomes patchy as well.
When I apply this in the morning , my skin started feeling dry by lunch time 🙁
Pros of Lakme Sun Expert Cucumber & Lemon Grass Fairness Sunscreen
1. Has a mild and pleasant smell.
2. Has SPF 30 PA++
Couldn’t really think of more pros
Cons of Lakme Sun Expert Cucumber & Lemon Grass Fairness Sunscreen
1. Very thick, making it hard to blend.
2. Not a good packaging for a thick texture cream
3. Does not moisturize well. So not suitable for dry skin.
Would I Buy it again: No. I would like to buy a more moisturizing sunscreen, that would suit my combination/dry skin.
