My Take on L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer:
Why one needs primer:
- To reduce the appearance of fine lines.
- To cover large open pores.
- Act has smooth base to apply makeup.
- Ensure makeup lasts longer.
- Keeps face shine free.
I don’t have open pores, but I do have a few lines under my eyes because of my sunken eye shape and these lines are usually accentuated by my makeup, so to combat that I have invested in this makeup base by L’Oreal.
Packaging: The product comes in a transparent jar with a black lid. It is made up of thick glass and is prone to breakage if you are not careful enough. The jar appears bigger in the online images, but is disappointingly small and does not contain enough quantity as expected.
Texture: The primer looks like a regular moisturizer, however, it is easier to blend compared to a moisturizer and it contains silica, it gives a smooth finish, but unlike other primers that I have used in the past, this product does not give an overpowering feel of silicone on skin and yet gives a smooth base to apply makeup on.
Efficacy: I did not notice any obvious change in the topography of my skin; especially after I applied makeup, there was less appearance of fine lines under my eyes and around my mouth where my makeup tends to break most often. It also kept my face shine free and sweat free and prolonged the wear time of my makeup.
Did it give a matte finish? Yes sir, it did! My skin felt very soft and smooth and it was easier to blend my base makeup.
Wear Time: My face was shine-free for 7-8 hours after which I don’t really check my makeup because usually I remove my makeup after that duration. This primer did increase the wear time of my makeup and prevented it from creasing or breaking wherever I have fine lines.
Pros of L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer:
- This primer is for all skin types and skin tones.
- A pea-sized product is enough for under eyes and for areas around the month.
- Blends easily.
- Gives a smooth finish to apply makeup.
- Keeps face shine-free for a long duration.
- Increases wear time of makeup.
- Prevents makeup from breaking and creasing.
- Does not give an artificial silicon feel to skin as most primers tend to.
- Easily available.
- No fragrance.
Cons of L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer:
- Glass jar is rather heavy.
- Quantity is less for the money you pay.
