I have been a regular reader of IMBB for almost a year now. I am from Mumbai and just a beginner at makeup (Basic Kohl & nude gloss or lip balm). After reading the reviews on IMBB, I bought Lotus’s Coral lipstick ‘Carnation’ and recently the tinted lip balm from Maybelline ‘BabyLips’ in ‘Rose’. I am absolutely loving it. I have a query, I will be travelling to Kerala with my family friends in December (1st week) for 10 days. I would like to know what kind of makeup should I carry/buy? I have a wheatish fair skin tone and petite figure.

kerala is a awesome place to be 🙂 but the sun is very shooting.. so dont forget to carry a good sun screen lotion…
I used to carry Vicco Turmeric/Fair & Lovely (these both creams give me long lasting matte look) & Compact & Kajal & MLBB lipstick on trips. Now after reading so many posts on IMBB in past year..In my Next-week-long-trip-to-Italy..I am planning to include Light foundation & few more bright lippies in my list.. 🙂
A proper makeup kit for travel according to me (if I travel in a month or so) will have
> one light foundation / BB cream / Tinted moisturiser (Inglot YSM foundation).
> One powder compact and some blotting sheets to keep the oiliness away.
> A good concealer (MAC prolongwear)
> 1 or 2 lipsticks. Use the lipsticks as a cream blush. (Maybelline Rubylicious, Maybelline Crazy for Coffee for a neutral look)
> If you really want eyeshadows, better carry a medium sized palette (Revlon Blissful Girl) that can create more than one look. Or carry 2 or 3 small mono eye shadows that can be used as all over eye color. I’ve heard good things about Maybelline color tattoos.
> One kohl or black eyeliner. May be one more of your favorite color eye liners.
> Makeup removers
> A good mascara
Optional:
Primers
Blushes
Bronzers
Other than that don’t forget your skin care products and a very good sunscreen. Try to get travel size versions for them.
If you have good skin, you can try just a primer + powder combination.

Here are some basics: Glares are must, A lip Balm, Cleanser, facial wipes, Moisturizer depending upon the weather of the place, Sunscreen with atleast 40 spf (Lotus 3 in 1)
Makeup: Tinted M, Compact, Eye Pencil, Lipstick- one light one dark
sunscreen is a must..and right now the climate is very chip chip over here..so use a moisturiser thats gel based…lotus aloe hydra moisturiser i would say..top it with sunscreen..sweatproof preferably.Better to go for pencil liners..top it with compact with spf .A lip balm with spf is also must.If you are planning outdoor trips better to avoid heavy makeup and stick to basics…
3 lipsticks : n*de , pink and red/orange or depending on the color you prefer to use.
2 blushes : one matte, one shimmery. chose the color depending on what you’d use the most.
1 transparent gloss- would go with everything.
lip balm, kohl, compact, liquid foundation and primer. i personally pick up a neutral eyeshadow palette and that goes with just everything.

I am frm Kerala.. so let me tell you.. u will absolutely need a good sunscreen. Go in for a tinted moisturiser. Get a good body lotion for the body too… tht too with SPF. Then get an anti tan product. Mask or face pack or scrub. You will need it.
Lotus purestay foundation is a god investment.
Go in for a compact too. get something for the hair too. Serum or anything.
I just came back from kerala after a 3 week holiday , it is a very beautiful place .From my experience :
Carry a foraming shower gel/soap -kerala is hot and humid so cream/gel cleansers will not give you a squeaky clean feeling.
Use a tinted sunscreen or a tinted moisturizer – I used lotus herbal 3 in 1 sunscreen.
Use a tinted lip balm instead of lipstick and skip heavy makeup.
This is because since we sweat a lot in hot climates the heavy makeup will make face look more oilier ./Carry a face mist such as avene thermal water and spritz it on while travelling .
When u come to Kerala u must visit Frt kochi itz awesome place 😀
I would also suggest a sunscreen, tinted moisturizer,compact, colored lipbalm, eyepencil/gel eyeliner, facewash, eyebrow pencil, this i think is basic but other than that, an addiotional lipgloss/ lipstick and colored eyepencils wouldbe fun too. Dont forget a sunblock

I m Anshika nd i m big fan of imbb.Actually i have oily and acne prone skin. and i m wheatish…I wnt soft skin nd enhance my skin tone.
Coming 3 months i m getting merried…please any one suggest me any face wash,cream nd face pack which z gud 4 increasing skin tone…I am just 24 and i m a studnt so most of d tym i m little bit lazy 2 care about my skin thats y i hv sme tanning problem also.
Please help me out. I am waiting.
to remove tan use curd and besan pack, add some turmeric to it for nicer glow.
i use himalaya neem face wash to keep new pimples and acne at bay and it works.
oil free creams are few, i would say try lotus herbals alpha moist and some lacto calamine to keep skin infections away.

kerala is hot and humid, i would suggest you definitely carry some lacto calamine, to keep skin troubles and sunburn at bay.
makeup wise , it has already been mentioned , but would suggest that you carry
foundation
compact
Lipsticks -2 (subtle MLBB shade and a darker or brighter one for night outs)
Kohl/eyeliner
Mascara (generally go for water proof ones whenever in a humid place)
Blush (buy a cream blush if ur skin is dry, and a powder blush if it is oily.)
Eyeshadow /colored eyepencil
I always put some foundation on my lid, use eyepencils like an eyeshadow, blend and set it with a compact.
Carry a big powder brush, blush brush and eyeliner brush.
Some wet wipes and cotton wool to remove makeup (i simply use olive oil to remove makeup)
Sun screen is definitely recommended. Go easy on the body lotions as the climate is warm and muggy leaving you feeling heavy with all the creams. Climate will be slightly better in Dec but its hot and humid most of the year. Keep talcum powder, lacto calamine, wipes handy for a sweat free experience.
Conservative dressing is preferable because people have a tendency to stare. Jeans, skirts are good options. Shorts, may be not so,much unless you have the devil may care attitude!
If you are visiting Munnar or cooler hill stations in Kerala, keep a sweater/ shawl, muffler, light socks for safety. Just in case it gets too cool.
If you are visiting back water’s like Kumarakom, please take ‘All out mosquito device / coils’ for a mosquito free experience apart from make up.

I am thinking of buying the lotus purestay foundation, some neutral shade lipstick and tinted lipbalm for now. Blotting paper is also a good idea since its humid.
And ofcourse the kohl and sunblock I already have.

I still need your advice on:
1. Powder Blush (Not too expensive and preferably with 2 shades – pink & peach)
2. Eye shadow Palette. Since I am a beginner I want to start with nudes. I just get to see shimmery ones. I am looking for matte (oily skin). This too should be at a reasonable price.
And a basic smokey eye palette suggestion would be great!

I am not going to buy a foundation for now as the sunblock is tinted itself and works decently for me. Besides I have maybelline’s dream mousse. It makes me look like I have done too much make up so I am going to skip the foundation.
If anymore suggestions.. please tell me!!
