Hello gorgeous gals,
I’m back with a fairly new find of mine – though the product has been around since ages. I was extremely surprised that it hadn’t already been reviewed on IMBB. So, let’s find out more about this concealer.

Packaging:
shade name
The concealer comes packaged in a typical illuminating concealer pen type packaging – like the YSL Eclat Illuminating Pen. The pen comes packaged in a black cardboard box. The pen has a brush applicator and has a clicking mechanism, which pushes the creamy product onto the brush.

The product comes in the form of a pen. You click the base to release the creamy concealer product onto the brush. As was explained to me ages ago by a YSL MUA, I do not directly apply the product to my undereye area. Instead, I take the product on the back of my hand and then apply it bit by bit. This is to ensure that I do not end up placing too much product I one go.

My Experience with Marks and Spencer Autograph Illuminating Touch Under Eye Concealer:

Illuminating Concealer pens are not really new in the market. Pretty much every brand – high end to drugstore has one – from Tom Ford, YSL to L’oreal and Maybelline. This review is on the Illuminating concealer pen from Autograph – inhouse brand of Marks & Spencer.

shelf life

Colour:
It’s available in 3-4 shades. I picked up dark – since it was more peachy and I thought it would help with my undereye shadows. With limited shade range – it could be difficult to find a shade match.

Pigmentation & Texture:
The product is not very pigmented. So, if you are looking for actual concealing from this, it’s going to bum you out. When you do apply it to your undereye area or on blemishes, it looks like there is decent pigmentation. However, once you blend it out, the lack of pigmentation becomes visible. The product does blend easily into the skin. So, if you want to look at it as a convenient concealer – it is not. If you want to use it as an illuminator – like a highlighter – this would work well as it blends in seamlessly. For this, you need to ensure that the shade you pick is lighter than your actual foundation shade.

claims

This, in itself, would not be an issue if the product was being sold as an ‘illuminating pen’ – as the name suggests. However, the company touts it as something for highlighting as well as something to work on your dark under eyes. There is just not enough pigmentation to work with. The good thing is that it does not have any shimmer particles in it to create a highlight.

Staying power:
The concealer does not set quickly. Even post using a setting powder, it feels to be mobile and is definitely not waterproof. So, if your under eye area tends to get wet due to heat, humidity etc, the product will end up moving, which is absolutely unacceptable.

Application:
Considering the brush comes in touch with the skin during application or while depositing the product, it is essential to keep it clean by using a spot brush.

If you have always wondered what the fuss about the highlighting pens is all about, go ahead and give this one a shot. But do remember to pick a colour which is lighter than your foundation shade. Do not expect it to do any ‘concealing’ for you. Or, just use a foundation/concealer a shade or 2 lighter than your foundation as that works too!
