Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Coral Pink Review + Another Fungal Alert!!!!
Yes, you read it right!!!! A few days ago, Manu reviewed the Colorsensational lippie, Dusty Rose and gave a fungal alert! That instantly made me go and check my Colorsensational lippie, Coral Pink, which I hadn’t used in a month and was safely tucked away in my vanity bag. To my horror, my lipstick had fungus too!! I tried clicking a lot of pics, but it wasn’t showing in my camera as I was using my phone to click pics as my digicam is not with me at the moment, please read Manu’s review here . It has the accurate picture of what the fungus looks like :sick:
You see the brownish patch there? That’s where the most of it collectively was, hence, it came in the pictures. However, as seen from naked eye, it was all around the lipstick shaft! What a horror! Though this lipstick is 8 months old, I had got Maybelline’s Moisture Extreme also with this one, but that looks fine, whereas this one!!! :pissedoff:
(The pics posted above do not show the real colour of this lipstick, I tried different lights so that the fungus could show up easily). I will be posting another pic below, to show what the colour really looks like).
However, coming to the review. I firmly wiped the fungus off with a really rough tissue paper and here’s what the colour Coral Pink actually looks like.

The packaging is kind of okay-whatever types. I don’t like it much, the rust-coloured cover is very plastic and flimsy–ish, I don’t know why I got this cover, whereas most Colorsentational lippies come in that beautiful semi-transperant case with silver base. Having said all that, its a very pretty colour, quite a bold one at that. Its mostly pink with of course coral undertones. Even though I don’t shy away from bright colours, I sometimes think twice before wearing this one, it doesn’t go so well with my skin undertones, but its really stands out!!
I wear this lippie when I want a definite pop of colour on my lips and to add an accent to the outfit I am wearing and yes sometimes, contrast lippies also adds that extra zing or edge to your outfit. This successfully does that, its also a colour very popular with Indian fashion and style bloggers. As I said, all love that extra pop of pinky coral.
It has excellent pigmentation and doesn’t dry my lips out. Other than that, there is nothing to write home about this lippie. It starts fading after one-and-half to two hours and settles a bit in the fine lines of the lips, now this problem is not to a great extent, so its okay!!!!
I used to wear this lippie a lot often before, had only tucked away for a month, as I was excited to use my newer lippies. Anyway, here are some swatches.

One more thing I would like to add, I have noticed this lippie looks quite bright in real life, but it photographs quite subtle, so when you are not too confident about how bold it looks, you at least don’t have to worry when you are getting photographed, it comes off as a very nice shade of safe, subtle pink.
Pros:
*Awesome pigmentation, even one swipe is enough.
*Doesn’t dry my lips.
*Extremely affordable (although now I am starting to doubt its low rate because fungus attraction really makes me give up on its quality).
*A nice pinky coral colour, this is its biggest pro 😉
*Doesn’t bleed.
*Light and non-sticky texture.
Cons:
*Quality ???!
*Settles a bit in fine lines.
*Colour fades very very quickly.
*Not that great packaging.
Would I Buy it Again?
Umm, even though I really love this colour, nope, the fungus is to be blamed.
Would I Recommend it to Others?
Its a nice colour and affordable lippie to recommend, but I am scared about the fungus part again, closest, but expensive dupe, I believe would be MAC crosswires lipstick. It may not be 100 percent similar, a little more peachy than pinky, but has the same electric effect 😉

I feel your pain…I have a lovely moisture extreme lippy in lustrous lilac and it’s this deep pink/maroon with silver micro shimmer…I love it,but have never been bold enough to wear it..,now I keep checking it in case it has caught fungus! :chewnails :chewnails :chewnails

hey i read the previous fungus alert n this one too n quickly went n checked the 2 maybelline lippies that i own (both from the moisture-extreme range- hazelnut n some iced pink something) both r such pretty colours :yikes: BUT both had a layer of fungus on them!! seriously i thought i’d puke! been using the hazelnut one regularly but it still had fungus!i wiped it with tissue n sniffed it n it smelt funny :sick: i dare not use it again,what a waste 😥 i sore them properly(tho not in the fridge) n none of my other lippies have this problem(not even a 2 year old elle 18)..maybe it has to do with the humidity n rains(i live in calcutta) cuz they were fine in winter still maybln shud do something about this problem :hunterwali: otherwise their products r so nice n affordable for collegegoers like me :headbang:
