Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick Honey Ginger

Hey Friends, today I am reviewing one of my most-used lipstick, Maybelline Moisture Extreme in the shade “Honey Ginger.”

Price:
Rs. 225.

Everyone by now knows about the famous “Colorsensational” and “Moisture Extreme” lipsticks from Maybelline. So, I will go straight towards my experience with this particular shade.

I had bought this lipstick with one more Moisture Extreme shade and one Colorsensational lipstick in shade Coral Pink, which I reviewed here.  The shade Coral Pink and the other Moisture Extreme caught fungus, former caught white fungus and latter some blackish fungus thing.

Thankfully, this one hasn’t been affected yet and I take more care to wipe my lipsticks with tissues after each use after experiencing the fungus fiasco.

Anyway moving on to the shade:

Its not as dark as it looks in the tube.

The colour:

Firstly, I just loveee the name !!! 😀  It’s a brown-based nude. When I swatched it on my hand whilst buying, I thought it was a beigey nude and bought it instantly, but after full application on lips, I realized its more darker and a brown-based nude.  (Note:  When my friend liked this shade, we went to buy one for her, but Honey Ginger at that Maybelline counter looked much more different, it looked less brown, more beige with slight peachy undertones.  So, my curiosity made me check this shade once more later, at some other place and there too, it looked quite different, but more closer to the shade I have, weird!!)

Ideally, I wouldn’t have bought a brown-based lipstick, but this suits me just fine. Its a nude that doesn’t make me look washed out, but it may wash out darker skin girls, so please stay away from this shade.

The texture:

It has a very smooth texture.  It’s not very creamy, but pretty smooth and glides well. Its not amazingly pigmented, but decently pigmented enough and is very much buildable to whatever intensity you want.  Since, I don’t have pigmented lips, even one swipe gives a pleasant colour to my lips.

Finish:

It makes lips look extremely hydrated, gives a smooth slightly wet shine, so lives upto the name moisture extreme.

Fragrance, Lasting Power:

Thankfully, it is fragrance free, but lasting power is only about two hours after which it does leave a slight stain, but it comes off as a weird ash-end brown on my lips, which I don’t prefer.  I wish it would disappear fully, weirdly so every time I apply this lipstick.  By the time it fades, my lips feel a little too tender and raw, I don’t know how to explain, but its nowhere near “ soft, tender, or moisturized types,” its different.

One Nice Benefit:

I many a times used this lipstick to tone down brighter shades and it works very very very well for that purpose.

Pros of Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick Honey Ginger

• Moisturises the lips, but only till the time its there on the lips.
• Makes lips look plump and hydrated 🙂
• Smooth texture.
• Is a good nude colour for fair and medium tones. Its actually a very nice wearable colour, especially well suited for office wear as its very neutral, but will make darker tones look washed out.
• Affordable pricing.
• Doesn’t have any fragrance, thank God, I hate fragrant lipsticks.
• Can be used to tone down brighter lipstick shades very well, tried and tested :D.

Cons of Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick Honey Ginger

• Tests on animals, not cruelty free.
• Catches fungus easily, so quality might be an issue here.
• Doesn’t last more than two hours on lips.

Would I Buy This Again?
Umm no, as much as I enjoyed using this lipstick and used it very often, now I am bored, I may buy or may not buy this, more so because I am apprehensive about Maybelline’s quality. If there’s another colour that would entice me enough, only then I may buy and that too for the colour.

Would I Recommend It?
Umm if you don’t live in high humidity area and if you are pretty confident that your Maybelline lipstick won’t catch fungus, then yes its quite a nice nude.
