I had purchased almost every shade available from the NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting Blur Lip Color range, and today’s review is all about the last one I own from the range. So read on to know more about NYC #401 Riverside Ruby.

How to Apply:
First, apply to the centre of the lips and follow the contours of the mouth.
Then, to get the perfect blurred effect, use the smudge cushion to gently blur the colour out towards the edges of the lip.

My Experience with NYC City Proof Matte Long Lasting Blur Lip Color #401 Riverside Ruby:
NYC Proof Matte Long Lasting Blur Lip Color comes in a sleek twist-able sealed packaging. The information is present on the plastic cover; and once off, you have a beautiful piece of lip colour. The length makes it is easy to hold and apply. The lip colour is almost like a lip pencil and plays a dual role.
The screw cap is perfect and you can toss the lipstick in the bag without worrying about it getting opened and causing any mess. The transparent cap present at the sponge side is a bit flimsy and I am sure I will lose it in the course of time. There are 2 sides to the lip color: one contains the colour and the other contains the sponge.
You can use the sponge to smudge and create an ombre look. I have limited this sponge to clear the excess lip colour and to contour my lips. The smudger is basically a sponge and the quality is satisfactory. Riverside Ruby is a colour so different than what it sounds! I expected the colour to have a reddish tint as this was a blind buy.
The colour is a beautiful Barbie pink! The colour is deeply pigmented and covers any dark lips easily. But, you need to build up the colour to achieve a deep look. The lip pencil like width makes it easier to concentrate in each and every corner of the lips. The shade is indeed girly but, with the minimal application, you can create an illusion of healthy-looking pink lips.
The lip colour is extremely creamy and this is the biggest con as in the high temperature I see that it melts a bit. And it is easily prone to breakage, too. The quantity of the lip colour is very less too, and with frequent application and reapplication, it will hardly last 2 months. Also, the finish is not matte but semi-matte.
The wear time of the lip colour is around 4-5 hours. The lip colour is moisturising and doesn’t dry out the lips. However, exfoliation is a must for a smooth application. Considering that the lip colour is creamy, it makes it easy to glide the lip pencil for a smoother and even application.
The product doesn’t bleed and you do not need a lip pencil with it. The product does transfer but that can be prevented by dabbing some powder on the lips. I absolutely love the shades and quality of this range. But, considering the price and the quantity, I feel I am being ripped off. Still, for a drugstore brand, these lip colours are a hit!
