Oscar de la Renta’s Memorable Dresses
Hi everyone 🙂
“What women have achieved in the last 50 years, I wish men would have achieved in the last 100.”: Oscar de la Renta
Oscar de la Renta, when we hear this iconic designer’s name gorgeous women wearing those legendary gowns, powerful first ladies, those red carpet appearances comes to mind. He was one designer whose outfits were a sight to behold. He could even make a single solid colored dress a piece of art. His ways of accentuating women’s curve from fabric were just out of this world. This designer lost his battle to cancer this year only. So as a tribute to this designer, here is a list of just few of his masterpieces that I liked in no particular order.
Wedding Dresses:
His wedding dresses were like a dream. Every wedding dress told a story of its own. Here are a few.
Elizabeth Cordry in a gorgeous A-line lace wedding dress
Amal Alamuddin: Hers was the most talked about celebrity wedding of this year and who else she could have chosen other than this designer. Just look at the intricate details on the lace!
Huma Abedin: She wanted to compliment a jewelled choker that belonged to her grandmother, and the designer happily obliged and wow!
High Profile First Ladies:
He was the choice of women from Hilary Clinton to Michelle Obama. He dressed them all so impeccably.
Nancy Reagan in 1988 at the president’s dinner.
Hillary Clinton in Oscar de la Renta in 1977.
Red Carpet:
And now here are some red carpet dresses which will always be memorable.
Taylor Swift in this sophisticated floor length gown with gold sequins and pearl beads.
Cameron Diaz in this shimmering strapless, gold sequinned gown.
Katy Perry in this polka dotted, floral printed dress.
Zooey Deschanel in a sparkly embroidered crop top and asymmetrical skirt with a high-low silhouette.
Freida Pinto in a stunning coral gown with gold detailing.
And last but definitely not the least Sarah Jessica Parker in this designer’s creations. No one else has worn Oscar de la Renta’s creations as much as she has. Parker loved to wear his designs again and again, to almost all her red carpet appearances and even on the shoot of her TV show.

Nice write-up vandana! 🙂 🙂
thank you 🙂
Great compilation there Vandana. 🙂 I would really love to wear Cameron Diaz’s gown ;p
thank you 🙂
me too….
The pink coral frock dress that Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing is my personal favorite. I remember her mentioning Oscar in the episode in which she was wearing it.
Hi Vandana! Great post! The dresses are so gorgeous! Although I think the picture which says Hilary Clinton, I believe is actually Laura Bush and I don’t think the picture is from 1977. She married George Bush in 1977.
I am sorry if I offended you. I hope you don’t take this the wrong way.
great article vandana:) I liked the choker one and elizabeth one the most!
