Wonder Protein Mask For Lovely Hair

Wonder Protein Mask For Lovely Hair

Hiya Gals,

This is my first DIY, a wonder protein hair mask that I am gonna share it with you guys here. I hope it proves helpful for all of you who try.  Most of them might already know this, but never too late to know or share about certain miracle products hidden in our own kitchen. Before going ahead with the DIY, let me tell you that the main and only ingredient in this protein mask is “egg.” I am a complete vegetarian and have never even consumed an egg till date (except externally that is :P) so I know many here who are vegetarians like me might not want to use this thinking of the egg smell. But trust me gals, except for the time when you get the content out of the egg shell and into the bowl, there is no smell after that. Not even when you shower after using this mask.

I don’t want to bore you telling how good the egg is and stuff, because I want you guys to try it out and see the difference for yourself, but still a little on egg and its benefits:

Egg white or the Egg albumen or the Egg ovalbumin is rich in proteins. 60% of an entire egg is composed of egg white and Egg whites are almost entirely protein, It has been proved that Egg whites can fortify the hair shaft adding strength to the hair.

Egg whites are particularly useful for treating oily hair and giving it a lighter, healthier appearance. Try this technique once every two weeks and watch as the look and feel of your hair improve.

So read on more, to know why I call it the wonder protein mask!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Egg from your refrigerator.
  • A clean bowl from your kitchen.
  • A brush to apply the mask.

Procedure:

Use the end of a spoon to crack the egg shell on its tip (the top part of the oval shell). This helps to easily separate the egg white from the egg without the yolk mixing.

Wonder Protein Mask For Lovely Hair 2

Transfer the egg white to a clean bowl.

Apply it on your scalp and hair using a brush.

Wonder Protein Mask For Lovely Hair 3

Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse with cold water.

Egg white

Wash hair using a mild shampoo in cold water.

Why It Works:

Egg whites are full of bacteria-eating enzymes that get are helpful in getting rid of unnecessary oils.

They leave your hair healthier and add shine preventing limpness.

Please note:  Do not use hot or warm water to wash your hair. Mom tells the egg on your hair will cook otherwise 😛  I personally have never tried using hot water shower after using this mask, but then, that’s how egg is right?? And besides its summers now and is perfect reason to get a cold shower!  Please do not oil or get a champi prior to using this mask.

Benefits:

After the first wash itself, you can find your hair healthier and shining. I have fine straight hair, which get too oily and becomes limp the next day after I shampoo it and I am too scared to wash my hair everyday fearing hair fall and dryness.  Trust me, I have been using this since my school days and though I stopped using it in between after I started working and all, not once has this mask disappointed me. Though the smell does bother, I just have to withstand it for a couple of seconds! It goes bowl se seedha to your hair!

Pros:

  • You can always find eggs in your fridge. They are a convenient home hair treatment.
  • A natural and effective remedy to get glossy and shiny hair at your home.
  • 1 egg costs you 3 rupees :P, we can save money that we splurge on those expensive hair treatments and masks.
  • For people like me, who have oily scalp and dull limp hair, it’s a boon!

Cons:

  • People who cannot withstand the smell, might find it a little difficult. (Though it’s just for a couple of seconds).

So gals, try it out on the weekends and do let me know how it worked for you!

  1. All my friends tellthat egg is such a natural remedy for rough hair with a beautiful shine…but my mom will never let me get an egg inside my house.. *cry* *cry*
    i’m also a vegiie..

  2. i weekly use eggs on my hair….and love the after effects!! though im not vegan..!!
anyways,,,,why is the diy written twice?

  3. I am also a vegetarian and I am not allowed to bring eggs near my kitchen or mandir etc 😛 but I have seperate utensils for it and I apply it in my room or in the terrace 🙂 and also it works wonders

  4. The smell of this mask *cry* *nonono* *nonono* big no for me …
I find applying this a bit messy and the smell *nababana*

    1. yeah Vini, agree. But once this is on your hair, therez no smell at all. But yeah It’ll be easy and non-messy if you have someone to apply it on your hair. Else there are chances that you spill it. And the whole house stinks! *duh* Should be carefull with that

  5. Very useful one..!! *oye balle* But it stinks badly.. *nababana* I’d tried this.. i had got a wondeful result.. my hair was silky and shiny..!! *preen* *clap* But because of the smell i didnt try after that.. *cry*

    1. i too had stopped this after a while for the same reasons, but later had to get back to this, when nothing else seemed to help me! *jogging*

      1. Hey you can use curd / yogurt after applying this.. I had tried this.. this will make the smell some what bearable..!! *secret* *blush*

        1. Oh *silence* ,but the smell stays only for a while, when its in your bowl-just out of the shell. I personally don’t find it even when its on my hair.
But yogurt in itself is a great recipe for hair. I should try all these now. *powder*

  6. I love eggs and my hair too loves it 😛 I use it once in a week and I can’t stay touching my hair *happydance* It makes it so smooth and shiny “jo baar baar chune ko dil karen” rofl
This one is the most easy DIY *hihi*

    1. Nope shilpa, It is absolutely fine. Yolk in fact moisturizes and helps in strengthening. It’s like a double treat for your hair! *haan ji*
I had tried it once, My hair seemed super fine. but i was not able to get rid of the smell even after shampoo. So i didn’t suggest it here. Most of them wont be able to withstand the smell. *nonono*

With just the egg white, the smell subsides once its on your hair. But yolk smells disgusting and difficult to get rid of. *pigtail*

      1. Thanks a lot Sushma *puchhi* for clearing my doubt. I will use both yolk and white as my hair love both and I am ok with its smell. *jalwa*

  7. Heyy i always put egg atleast once a week.. *woot* wid olive oil, curd, honey and follow the same procedure as you said.. *haan ji*
It lets my hair breathe i can simply say. *happy dance* .
nice article to make people aware how great a food item can work for your hair *happy dance*

      1. Yeah ekdum *drool* n you know what next time u put egg..after washing the egg apply a conditioner for half an hour..then normal routine wala shampoo n conditioning *puchhi* do try your hair will be even more smoother.. *happy dance*

        1. sure saloni, il try it out this weekend itself! Anything to make them gorgeous strands! *hifive*
Thanks for sharing this tip *puchhi*

  8. such an easy and effective procedure. I am so gonna try this too. My hair has become especially rough with the hair coloring/Highlights and all. Just cant do without a serum these days but hopefully the egg mask will help it to a certain extent.

    1. It surely will help aru *clap* . Though varies from person to person. For me, i have been using this since my schooldays and discontinued in between. Again when i used this, after years of gap, It worked like a charm from the first wash itself *haan ji* . For few the results might not show up in the beginning, but i am guessing within 2 weeks, you would start noticing the difference for sure. *announce*

      1. Thanks Sushma. I will not give up after the first try. I think just like with any other procedure it will take a while before results are seen but am sure if nothing else the fact that egg is so good for the hair I will atleast be on the right track.:)

  9. me too love egg white hair pack… simple and nourishing… *puchhi*
to get rid of smell discard the stringy (looks like a transparent thread) portion in the egg white… 🙂 🙂

  10. yay.. am a eggitarian n i can bear smell of egg also.. *happydance* am definitely trying it dis weekend.. *happy dance* *happy dance* *thankyou* dear for dis wonderful hair serum.. *clap*
