Love it or hate it, but we all love a good liquid lipstick; it does stay on better than any other sort of lipstick and gives a fabulous matte effect. I’ve tried quite a few of them, but mostly, high-end brands stand out in terms of liquid lippies than drugstore brands. But, finally, I have found a liquid lipstick that does not budge – Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Color. These are the newest launch to hit the drugstore shelves here in Australia. I picked up 2 shades from this line and today, I am going to talk about the color “Plum This Show”. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

My Experience with Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Color Plum This Show:
Packaging: This lipstick’s packaging is something different and unique and it looks very cute. The tube looks like a flower vase. The tube has a frosted finish to it. There is a black cap with the brand symbol embossed on the top. The packaging is compact and the perfect size to pop in your bag when you’re on the go and I also love the fact that you can see the color clearly through the tube. The applicator looks like a flattened paddle and is relatively long and thin. Inside, you’ll find a lovely long and thin doe foot applicator. Overall, the packaging is cute. I have to mention here that the packaging of products in Australia and UK is different from the US packaging. I am not sure why it is so.
Shades: There are total 15 eye-catching shades in this collection, ranging from nudes, neutrals, pinks, reds, and plums. Apart from these, there is a raging black, gray and a blue and I think that this is the first brand which has launched a gray shade. Though there are a lot of unique shades in this collection, there are no nudes or neutrals that will suit dusky skin tones. I feel that only the darker shades cater to all skin tones. The shade “Plum This Show” is a dark raspberry plum shade. It is an amazing eye-catching color that will suit any makeup look. This shade is very apt for Indian skin tones.
Formula: The formula of this lippie is amazing; it is moussey yet feels a bit runny while applying the shade on the lips. This makes it all the more easy to spread it on the lips. This is incredibly rich and pigmented and gives opaque color in one swipe. If you’re familiar with liquid lipsticks, you’ll know all about how dry and cracked they can make your lips look. Rimmel Stay Matte isn’t too bad in this regard as this wears comfortably all day.
Once dried, there is zero transfer. I ate some lunch and had coffee and the lipstick stayed intact and didn’t move. They take quite a bit of effort to remove, you need some oil based wet wipe to remove it completely.
Longevity: I have to say I was very impressed with how long these did last as they do claim to last up to 12 hours. However, while they are very long-wearing I would say that they last a good 10 hours. I found them to fade down towards the end of the day, which is when re-application would be needed, but overall, they were pretty good going and long-lasting!
The other thing worth noting is that because these are matte, they feel a little drying at the end of the day but it is not too uncomfortable or uneasy. Overall, the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colors not only have a great price point but they are one of the best matte liquid lipstick formulas to be released within the drugstores over the past year.
The fact that they are super pigmented, vibrant, easy to apply and super long-wearing makes them a true winner.
