Today, I will be sharing my views on black sugar strawberry wash off mask from “Skinfood”, which is more like an exfoliating wash-off mask. Let’s get into the details.

Product Description:
A facial mask that contains mineral-rich organic black sugar along with strawberry seeds and strawberry seed oil. It applies smoothly on skin and leaves it fresh, clean, and fragrant with a strawberry scent. Black Sugar Cleansing skin care line is an exfoliating and moisturizing cleansing line with organic black sugar that is enriched with vitamins and minerals to hydrate and nourish skin.

How to Use:
After cleansing, massage gently into damp skin, or mix with water/cosmetic water and apply. Avoid skin around the eyes and lips. After 10-15 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water.

My Experience with Skinfood Black Sugar Strawberry Wash Off Mask:

Packaging: Skinfood black sugar strawberry wash off mask comes in a semi-opaque plastic tub packaging with a screw lid. I don’t like scrubs and face masks in a tub. These are those things that you may need less or more and sometimes, you may have to scoop out more during the process. On the top of the tub packaging, most of them do not provide any spatula. Yes, there is no spatula provided with this wash off mask. Hence, it is recommended to scoop out the required amount of product in one go itself, either with clean hands or with a spatula. All the information is written over the tub in both Korean and English. Hence, there is no difficulty in accessing the information about this mask. The material is sturdy and lightweight, making it travel-friendly as well.

Texture and Fragrance: This wash off mask has creamy, thick consistency and granular texture; exactly like a strawberry jam with strawberry seeds in it. It gets spread over the skin so smoothly and evenly, without causing any irritation. The strawberry seeds present in this wash off mask can be seen. The black sugar present in the mask has refined texture that feels grainy, but not gritty. The fragrance is also exactly like that of a strawberry jam; crisp and tart. It smells deliciously pleasant without irritating the nose. The fragrance is prominent while applying, but dissipates after a couple of minutes. The scent is not strong or off-putting, unless you don’t like strawberry jam.

Usage/Results: How I use it? First of all, I cleanse my face with a mild cleanser and follow up with spreading the mask evenly over the damp skin. While spreading the mask over the skin, there is a warmth which feels comfortable. It remains for a couple of minutes and then dissipates. After spreading, I massage my face and neck in circular motions for a couple of minutes; not more than that. Since I have started using chemical exfoliants in my skincare routine, I keep manual scrubbing to a minimum. While massaging, gentle motion is very crucial. The strawberry seeds feel a bit abrasive on my sensitive skin and can irritate it, if massaging is done with hard hands or with pressure. However, those who like their scrub to be coarser will love this. While massaging, strawberry seeds remain there till the end but, black sugar in the mask will start to melt off. After a couple of minutes, the sugar is almost melted and there is a glossy sheen over the skin.

Post massaging, I leave it for the next 15 minutes, and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Oh yes! I still hate using lukewarm water to wash off my face, but the wax in it forces me to do so. If I use normal water to rinse off the face, the mask leaves too much of waxy residue behind. And, when I use lukewarm water there is no to minimum balmy residue; hence, I am bound to use lukewarm water to rinse off my face.

Post rinsing, the skin is amazingly moisturized. It instantly feels plump and super hydrated. I am definitely sure that dry skinned beauties will like this mask to its core. As an exfoliator, it works perfect and does not dry out the skin at all. It is effective in removing the flaky skin, moisturizing the dry patches and removing surfaced blackheads/whiteheads. It makes the skin look very much clearer and brighter along with refreshing it. It is somewhat a combination of physical and chemical exfoliant that uses strawberry oil, strawberry seeds and black sugar, making it best of the both worlds.

Who cannot use this? People with active acne/pimples shouldn’t. If you have active acne, then do not use this wash off mask. The strawberry seeds present in the mask can irritate active acne/pimple, leading to infestation.
