Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Diamond Dust Review

Hello Lovely Ladies,

I’ve got some more Stila love coming your way. I reviewed a couple of shades from the Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows a while back – “Retro Rose Gold” and “Smoky Storm“. Today, I have an another shade up for review – this one is even brighter – “Diamond Dust”. Let’s find out if this one worked for me or not.

Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Diamond Dust Review

Product Description:
What it is:
A brilliant and long-wearing, liquid glitter eyeshadow.

What it does:
Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow is a long-wearing, sparkle eyeshadow with the perfect blend of pearl and glitter to leave your eyes with incredible luster and shimmer. With its uniquely lightweight, water-infused texture, it glides on effortlessly, then dries down smoothly, locking in maximum sparkle with minimal fallout for elevated eye looks.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

Suggested Usage:
-Apply one coat directly along the lash line and center of the lid.
-Use your finger or a firm brush in a tapping motion to blend edges and set.
-Wear alone or over eyeshadow.

Ingredients:
-Triethanolamine: Creates a barrier between your skin and the pearls to maximize comfort for barely-there wear.
-Glycerin: Conditioning ingredient known to hydrate the skin.

Packaging: The liquid eyeshadow comes packaged in a lip gloss type of packaging – except for the fact that the tube is cuboid instead of cylindrical. It looks quite like the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick packaging. It has a doe-foot type of applicator which allows easy dispensing and application of the product. The good thing is that the tube has a silicon stopper at its neck, which ensures that too much product does not get dispensed out at one go, which really helps. Also, it would prevent the product coming in contact with air too much. The applicator works well for applying the eyeshadow on the lid. However, if you need to use the eyeshadow as a liquid liner, you will need to use a fine tip brush from your collection. The product comes packed in a golden cardboard box. Overall, the packaging is functional and aesthetically appealing.

My Experience with Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Diamond Dust:

Shade: The shade is described by the company as “sheer silver and multicolor.” This one does have a sheer base, there is no discernible colour that the base imparts. The sheer base is loaded with silver micro glitters and multicoloured sparkle. Considering that it does not have a base colour of its own and the silver micro glitter and the multicoloured sparkle are quite intense and heavily packed, it works better as an accent shade rather than an all over lid shade. It is super bright, vibrant, attention seeking and in your face type of glitter. This is the kind of thing that one would keep for wedding functions or night outs and still use very very sparingly! It’s that bright.

Texture: The product is a thin liquid, slightly moussey without seeming watery. The eyeshadow seems to apply evenly but is pretty much loaded with the micro glitters and sparkles. So, getting a thin line with this was a bit tedious task, since this one is chunkier than the other shades. Also, it seemed to take longer to dry than the other 2 shades I reviewed. I realized this only while I was still applying makeup, it noticed that it started to transfer on my hooded lids – not too bad, just a little. But when the shade is this bright, it is fairly evident. Also, the sparkle does create a bit of fall out. Once I was through with makeup, I wished that I had done my eyes before my face. Also, you get fall out during the course of the day which could be minimized if you use the product more sparingly. Meaning, in the FOTD, I have tried to do my first attempt at cut-crease application and I did apply this over an extensive area of my lid. So, when so much of the product is used, there is bound to be some fall out over time. Despite the high shine, it did not seem to accentuate texture on my lid. I found it fairly easy to work with. Do ensure that this be the last step of your eye makeup. Any blending that you do around it or over it, will cause the sparkles to fall out.

Pigmentation: Pigmentation is sheer to opaque depending on how you use it. If you apply it sparingly, since the base is clear, I will appear more sheer to you. I have applied it more extensively in which case, it appears totally opaque.

Staying power: Disclaimer – I apply eyeshadows with a primer because my lids are way too oily. I get about 9-10 hours of wear with barely any fall out. This is phenomenal for a glitter product.

Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Diamond Dust FOTD

FOTD: In the FOTD, I have made my first attempt at doing cut-crease. The product (under review) has been used in the inner half of the lid. It has not been used in the inner corner – the shade used in the inner corner (though looks similar) – is a silver powder eyeshadow form the Kat Von D Metal Matte palette.

Pros of Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Diamond Dust:

  • Stunningly bright silver micro glitters and multicoloured sparkles in a sheer base.
  • Extremely bright and eye catching.
  • Once dry, it does not budge at all.
  • Effective and efficient packaging.
  • Did not sting my eyes or cause irritation.
  • Hardly any fall out.
  • Does not need a glitter glue as a base.
  • Travel-friendly.
  • Can be used as a liner (with difficulty), eyeshadow or topper.
  • Ease of application.

Cons of Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Diamond Dust:

  • There was more fall out with this than the other shades I reviewed – Retro Rose Gold and Smoky Storm.
  • The texture is chunkier.
  • Takes longer to dry.
  • I wish it was waterproof. However, the company has made no such claims about it either.

IMBB Rating: 3.75/5
This one is super super super super bright and in your face. I don’t think I am too enamored with this one because of the points mentioned above and because of how extremely blingy it is. For this shade, I would suggest that you try before you buy. If you are into glitters already, you might love this. But if you are new to using glitter on the eyes, this might be too much for you – like it is for me!!
