Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection Review

Product Purchased by IMBB

Hola Beautiful IMBBians!!!

This is one of the two “Too Faced” products that I had purchased under IMBB sponsorship scheme and I am thankful to IMBB for this generous gift. I spent two hours in Sephora to get the right versatile eyeshadow palette with good pigmentation and colors that would suit my skin tone. I was a little confused between this palette and another one by Tarte, but eventually settled for this one – keep reading on to know why.

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection

Product Description:
Each of these nine shades is smoldering when worn alone, and in combination, they’re downright X-rated. Boudoir Beauty features color and neutral shadows, plus five racy new shades.

My Take on Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection:

Stores like Sephora and Ulta are heaven for makeup geeks like us and a trip to these stores is something I always look forward to, particularly because these stores have very helpful SAs. The SA who helped me to get the right palette was very pretty and sweet; she took me around the store and swatched several eyeshadows and helped me narrow it down to this particular palette.

Packaging:  These eyeshadows come in an aluminum case – about ¾ the palm size. The palette has pale pink finish with an in-built mirror, the palette has a retro look. It has 9 eye shadows and these are divided into three categories – Day, Classic, and Fashion. One color in each category is a brightening shade and is in a longer slot; other two are medium and dark shades respectively and are in smaller slots.

Texture:  These are pressed shadows and honestly upon swatching, I felt they looked just like the drugstore ones, at least most of them did. They have very soft texture, but have a decent amount of fallout as well.  However, they are very easy to pick up on to a brush and apply on to the lid; very smooth to blend and smudge.

Colors:  Left to right:

In the buff: brightening shade – cream color with negligible shimmer.
Fuzzy handcuffs: (sounds kinky) buff – pale pink color with very negligible shimmer.
Voulez-Vous: dark mauve color with matte finish.
Satin Sheets:  Just like second shade – buff, pale pink color with shimmer – perfect for highlighting.
Sugar Walls:  Muddy pink color with purple undertones and shimmer.
Garter Belt:  Matte grey – mud color.
Birthday Suit:  Champagne color with warm undertones and shimmer.
Lap Dance:  Brown-golden color with shimmer.
French Tickler:  Black with gold shimmer but is not as opaque so needs a dark khol underneath or can be used in the crease.

Staying Power:  It is decent, but has no “wow” factor whatsoever though you can increase the wear time and pigmentation with a primer underneath, but then what’s the point of spending $36 if I have to spend the same amount to buy a primer as well.

Cons of Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection:

  • Expensive.
  • Most of the shades have a lot of fallout.
  • Needs a primer underneath if you want to increase the staying power.
  • Nothing proprietary about this palette or shades.

Would I Repurchase Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft and Sexy Eye Shadow Collection?
This would last me a while, so I won’t repurchase it and also I didn’t find it so fascinating to go in for a second time. I don’t particularly recommend to the readers because same shades with a similar finish are available at a much less price in other palettes.

  1. I absolutely love these little palettes from Too Faced. I have one of the Chocolate Bar palettes and the Natural Eyes palette and they’re both amazing. There can be the odd shade that may need a little help from Mac’s Fix + to really bring out the shimmer but other than that they carry some beautiful shades. I find that their shadows blend perfectly and their prices aren’t too bad compared to other brands that sell shadows that don’t even blend that well. Hope you can warm up to it a little bit more to make you want to purchase it again.

    Best wishes,
    Vanessa
