With the onset of winters, I suddenly realized that I was neglecting a very delicate part of mine that was very dear to me and of which I took extreme care earlier, and no it’s not my brain or anything else, its my hands.
I loved taking care of my hands and followed strict routine to keep it soft and supple because I used to get more compliments for my hands and shoulders than my face. 🙁 For the last one year, I only dabbed body lotion on my hands because that was the only thing I could squeeze time out for. For the last two weeks, I have been following a care routine for my hands so that they do not become dry and stretchy and it is already showing results. I am loving the way my hands feel now.
Here’s my hand care routine:
1. Moong Dal scrub
I love to scrub my hands with whole green moong dal. The sun dried moong dal seeds have to be powdered into whatever consistency you want. These c1an be stored in a container to be used later. This powdered moong dal can be used for rough exfoliation and it makes the skin super smooth.

Hands need heavy moisturization and it does not matter if you have oily skin or dry skin or normal skin because skin on the hands won’t break out.
2. Vaseline Body Lotion:
I have been using Vaseline body lotion since ages. I have been trying the other lotions in between, but I always spring back to this one because I simply find Vaseline Body Lotion indispensable whether its summer, rainy, or winter season. I use it at all times for my hands and all over to get smooth skin.
Since body lotions are not enough, I use the Dove Intensive Nourishing Care cream. It is a thick cream with a very pleasant smell that nourishes as well as moisturizes.
3. Dove Intensive Cream for Complete Daily Skin Care:
The intensive cream from Dove offers rich care and a pleasant feel on the skin during and after application. It combines nourishing ingredients and a generous dose of active moisturizer. I use it right after bath and apply generously on hands and even on legs. It not only moisturizers but also nourishes.
4. Moyzen Moisturizing Cream
The protective layer of Moyzen Cream nourishes dry skin and helps retain moisture. Fast absorbing formula, non-greasy, relieves itching, can be used on hands, feet, and all over body, suitable for use by adults and children, use preferably after bathing, perfectly balanced at natural pH of skin, does not contain synthetic colours and fragrance, an emollient for dry skin.
Although Moyzen claims to be grease free, it is not, it has liquid paraffin in cream base and preservative and it is a very thick moisturizer, which does not quickly absorb into the skin, but it heavily moisturizers and so I use it on my hands and legs.
5. Roghan Badam Shirin
I use Roghan Badam Shirin at night a little before hitting the bed so that it gets completely absorbed into the skin and does not get wasted. Roghan Badam Shirin is 100% pure sweet almond oil and it nourishes, moisturizes, and makes the skin soft and supple. I do not use Roghan Badam during the day because it’s an oil and gives an oily sheen to the skin. Note to Rads: Please note that it works for constipation as good as “castor oil.” 🙂
6. Vitamin E capsules:
These capsules have vitamin E with Aloe Vera and I apply these capsules overnight over my hands to let them work through the night. These capsules work wonderfully and nourish skin and give it a healthy glow.
I find this care routine for hands very rewarding with my dry hands turning super soft and smooth within two weeks. Do try this routine and let me know how it works for you.

Wowww…you surely take so much care of your hands..using all these products..I toh only use simple hand cream, every time I use soap on my hands or do dishes.And for scrubbing, I usually do that with the regular body scrub while taking bath! ….Greattttttttt and very inspiring post Jomol!! ….. :)… Post a pic of your pretty hands too na!! 😀 😀

i use a simple hand cream and put a few drops of oil in my liquid soap this way the soap doesnt dry out my hands completely. :))
Its called Vitamin E capsules.You can get it in any pharmacy or departmental store.My mother used to get them from the pharmacies and used them in lotions,and its really good for those who have dry skin :snicker:

evion is apna regular VIT E capsules , 400 IU .. i use them to apply on hair/face .. a strip of 10 capsules cost like some 15 Rs or something , available at any chemist .. just for information sake – evion has has a variant called ‘ Evion Forte’. it has omega 3 and wheat germ , i have one capsule daily . Dont buy forte for all these purposes , buy the normal wala .. 🙂 🙂

Hi Nirahika, I don’t remember the name of the vit e capsules, but I had bought them in a pharmacy. They should be available in any pharmacy. But I’ve tried 2 different varieties are both were VERY sticky. Also, these were only Vit E, NOT vit e & aloe. I think the combination of vit e & aloe will be much better.

Might be too late to say this, but I find the smileys a bit overwhelming. I can’t understand which smiley is for what emotion. In the earlier template, when you moused over a smiley, the emotion would be mentioned there. Is it possible to bring that feature back? I guess I’m iconically challenged (ya I just made that up). Also, in the earlier template, the smileys were arranged in order – from the simple ones to the more complex ones. Now it’s all mixed up & I’m finding it hard to locate the simpler ones (I’m easily confused).

make a hand scrub by mixing raw sugar(normal sugar will do 2) and olive oil…use this scrub every night and rinse off with warm water..
use a moisturising cream specially for hands.i like mixa creme mains(french) and mavala hand cream(swiss).they are both really nice…wear gloves and sleep…you’ll have soft hands just like a lil baby O:)
Masks for the hands can be a very moisturizing treatment, bringing extreme softness to even the roughest of hands. Prepare masks by mixing together the required ingredients and applying them to the hands. Wrap hands in plastic (a grocery sack or some plastic wrap will do), then place a warm, damp towel around them. Let the mask soak in like this for five minutes, then take off the towel and plastic and rinse. Finally, pat dry with a clean dry towel.
Mashed Potato Mask
For the best moisturizing mask you can try a mashed potato mask (this is good for the whole body, too, including the face). Make two cups worth of instant mashed potatoes, using two tablespoons of olive oil in place of the butter/margarine. Let the mixture cool to room temperature and then spread it on your hands. This mask can actually stay on the skin until it is starting to dry before it needs to be rinsed off.
Avocado Mask
For an exfoliating hand mask you can mix one mashed up avocado with one or two tablespoons of corn meal. The good oils in avocado will help soften the hands while the corn meal’s gritty texture will aid in sloughing off dead skin cells. This mask should be applied in a circular motion, to remove the dead skin, then left on for the five minutes of moisturizing.
Milk and Honey Mask
If you need some extra strength hand softening, look no further than the milk and honey hand mask. This recipe calls for two tablespoons of honey combined with a half cup of plain yogurt. If you would like to add some vitamins into the mix, which can be very revitalizing for overworked hands, add in half of a ripe peach, mashed up.

@ Prrincess : you can get Vitamin E capsules in any medical store.
Commonly they are manufactured by MERCK Limited by the name of Evion.
There are types of Evion capsules. For skin you may go for Evion- 200 mg (Yellow colored) or Evion – 400 mg ( Green colored). The other types contain omega fatty acids, which on application gives a pungent smell ( I suffered that pain :(( ).
Plain Evion is odorless and very effective for dry skin, chapped lips and cracked heels .

for beautiful hands, scrub them nicely with coffee granules . after washing apply fresh milk creme mixed with a little honey and glycerine. leave it on for for the night.your hands will be super smooth. do thid thrice a week thru the winter.. cheers
