Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – Clear Transparent Review

By Shilpa Halbe

Hello ladies,

This is my maiden review – hope you all will like it and find it useful.  I have been on the lookout for clear mascara for ages, and to my delight, I came across Maybelline Great Lash Mascara Clear Transparent at Wal-Mart during a recent US visit.

My Take on Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – Clear Transparent:

I was excited to try it and here’s my take.  Frankly, as a mascara, it’s nothing extraordinary really. It is clear, so understandably, it does not give your eyes a made-up look.  While the usage suggests more than one coat, I would recommend going easy! The product is sticky and things can get a bit messy if you are heavy-handed, but if you simply want to separate and make your lashes look healthy and natural, it works well enough. The gel formula does the trick of separating the lashes and gives them a neat, groomed appearance. Though I am not really sure of the product’s claim of strengthening and nourishing lashes – I haven’t used it often enough to verify this. The brush, which the product says is “lash-building” didn’t seem any different/special frankly. You really need to be thorough while washing it off. Since it’s in gel form, it does not come off very quickly.

On the more positive side, I really liked it as a brow gel. Ever have one of those days, where your eyebrows, though tweezed and well-shaped, have a few stragglies, as I call them! I have plenty of those days, believe you me! I am blessed with decently thick eyebrows, but they can be a source of minor irritation when a few brow hairs just pop up (and stay up – aaarrrggghhh) like weeds and ruin an otherwise perfect portrait (as I would like to think :D :P)! Maybelline great lash clear mascara comes to the rescue here – as a brow gel, it works quite well, helping to give brows a more groomed, refined look. Again, you must take care not to use too much of it. The best way to use it is to start from the inside brow, using gentle, upward strokes. It dries fairly quickly, so you have to work fast, but it does not feel all cakey and flakey, provided of course, you haven’t used too much of it.  I have used it quite often as a brow gel, but I cannot honestly say whether it has helped nourish my brow hairs, but as long as it helps to give them a nice “manicured” look, I am happy :P

Pros of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – Clear Transparent:

  • Separates lashes easily.
  • Imparts a healthy, clean look to lashes.
  • Tames unruly brow hairs quickly and efficiently.
  • Cheap.

Cons of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – Clear Transparent:

  • Sticky, can get very messy if you use too much.
  • Does not come off as easily with water as claimed.
  • Brush can be a little tricky to use (or maybe it’s just the piece I bought).
  • Non-availability in India (I didn’t see it on online shopping sites too).

IMBB Rating:

3/5.

Would I Buy Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – Clear Transparent Again?

Probably, but only as a brow gel!
