Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Transparent Spray SPF 50 Review

Hello everyone,

Hope you guys have a great weekend! I have been using this sunscreen since last year and with the scorching heat and bright sunny days here in Mumbai, this has been my total go-to sun protection.  I thought this would be the perfect time to share this amazing product with all IMBBians.  Nivea Sun Invisible Protection SPF 50 is transparent and has a non-greasy texture which offers immediate and effective protection.  It is quickly absorbed, non-sticky and water resistant.

How To Use:

  • Shake well before use.
  • Spray into hand to apply to the face.
  • Do not spray into the eyes.
  • Apply generously before sun exposure and re-apply frequently, especially after swimming and toweling to maintain the original protection.
  • Avoid intense mid-day sun and extensive sun exposure.
  • Keep babies and young children out of direct sunlight, use protective clothing and sufficient sunscreen for unprotected areas.
  • Avoid direct contact with fabrics and hard surfaces to prevent staining.

Ingredients:

Alcohol Denat., C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Homosalate, Octocrylene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Dibutyl Adipate, Glycerin, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Polysilicone-15, Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer, Aqua, Limonene, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Acetate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Eugenol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Benzyl Alcohol, Parfum.
This sunscreen is UVA / UVB Protection system – EU compliant.

UV radiation from the sun is in three wavelengths – UVA, UVB and UVC.
UVC does not penetrate the earth’s atmosphere, so we only need to protect against UVA and UVB.
UVB, causes sunburn, which has strong links to malignant melanoma and basal cell carcinoma risk (types of skin cancer),
UVA rays can penetrate window glass and penetrates the skin more deeply than UVB. UVA protection in a sunscreen will help defend the skin against photo ageing and potentially skin cancer also.

So, before buying any sunscreen, its important to check if has UVA and UVB protection.

My Experience with Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Transparent Spray SPF 50:

The spray comes in a blue plastic bottle with a yellow nozzle and a transparent cap. The liquid is a light gold color and is visible from the front. The side of the bottle has 4 ribs which gives a good grip even when the hands are wet when used at beach or the pool.

Before this, I have always used cream sunscreens and I hate how they leave a white ghastly layer on the skin. This is the first liquid and spray sunscreen that I have tried and I am totally blown away by it.

Well, you just spray it across, and rub it over for an even application. It gives a strong smell of alcohol initially, but dies out in a few seconds as the alcohol evaporates, and leaves a little shine, but on touching, you realize it’s more like a water residue and not grease. It is because of the alcohol content that the liquid dries out and does not leave too much of greasiness.

On drying, if added protection is required, a second coating can be applied.

To apply on the face, I spray a small amount on hands and swipe across the face, keeping eyes closed.  Once the initial smell of alcohol dries away, you are left with the traditional Nivea scent and what looks like your normal skin, no grease and no residue.

I used this in February, when I went on a holiday in the pool and otherwise , the sun was very strong and I didn’t tan as much I generally do even after using a sunscreen. It feels completely natural on the skin and doesn’t irritate my skin nor have I experienced any discomfort. I have very oily skin, so after 1-2 hours, it starts getting a little oily, but for dry skin beauties, it shall stay matte for a longer duration.

This picture is when I have sprayed a single pump.

The 2nd pic is where I have blended the sunscreen onto my hand. As you can notice, it doesn’t look like I have applied something.

Pros of Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Transparent Spray SPF 50:

  • 100% invisible.
  • Non greasy.
  • Transparent liquid.
  • Spray bottle.
  • Great bottle shape.
  • SPF 50.
  • UVA and UVB protection.
  • Immediate protection.
  • Water resistant.

Cons of Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Transparent Spray SPF 50:

  • Has alcohol content.
  • Not available in India.

IMBB Rating:

5/5.

This is my favorite sunscreen of all time for summer because its water based and very lightweight.  If you can get your hands on this one, do not miss out . Its a wonder product.  They have SPF 20, 30, 40 and 50, take your pick. It’s a huge bottle and will last you a very long time.

Hope you all enjoyed this review and found it helpful, XOXO
