There is no secret that a lip liner is one of the most underrated products lying in our stash. It prevents the lipstick from bleeding and prolong its wear time still, not many of us use lip liners. 1. Work at 45 degrees:
Your lips have to look softer, which is not possible if you keep your lip liner horizontal while drawing the line. It is advised to keep your hand at 45 degrees while working with the lip liner. Further, to draw the line, always use gentle and light strokes to avoid harsh-looking lines. Keep changing the angle of your face to make sure that the line you create is soft and clean.
2. Nude lip liner for plump lips:
Using a nude lip liner adds a definition to the lips, and creates the illusion of plumped-up look to your lips. You just have to draw soft lines over your natural lip contour using a nude or neutral lip liner. Follow up by filling the lips with your lipstick to create the plump illusion.
3. Contrasting shades for fuller lips:
For a naturally fuller look, you can opt for contrasting shades. It will create an illusion of fuller lips. You just have to draw over your cupid’s bow with a dark lip liner. Do the same at the middle and bottom portion of your lips. Then, blend it with the help of a lighter shade lip liner. It will make your lips look naturally fuller.
4. Warm up the lip liner for smoother application:
This one is no secret, but definitely, a thing to remember. If you want a smoother application, then try to warm the tip of your lip liner. It will provide you with a softer tip thereby, providing a smoother application. However, do not overheat your lip liner as it might get damaged. Similarly, if your lip liner is already having a super soft tip and is breakage-prone, then refrigerate it for few minutes before using it.
5. Apply lip liner first:
For a more intense finish, apply a lip liner before applying the lipstick. Start drawing a line using the lip liner. The more pressure you apply, the more intense will be the look. After drawing the line, fill in the lips using the same colour lip liner or lipstick. By doing so, it also prevents the lipstick from bleeding.
6. Alternative to lipstick:
A lip liner can be used as an alternative to a lipstick, especially to a matte lipstick. You just have to fill in the lips and smudge it with the help of a brush for a subtle and softer look.
7. Always start fresh:
A lip liner will work better when applied over bare and clean lips. If you are going to reapply a lip liner in place of your lipstick, then clean your lips first as it will prolong the wear time. Similarly, if you are wearing a lip gloss over the lip liner, and want to reapply then, first wipe off the lip gloss and reapply.
8. Do not sharpen much:
Sharpening your lip liner to get a super sharp tip will be one of the biggest makeup mistakes. The sharp tip of the lip liner provides you with a thin line, which will look like a ring around your lips thereby, making your lips look artificial. For a more natural look, always use a lip liner with a little blunt tip. It helps to create a thick line that is quite easily blendable with the lipstick and does not look artificial as well.
9. Discard the liner with white tips:
If you are a makeup lover, then you must be hoarding a lot of products. It is important to keep a track on their expiration dates to prevent any harm to the skin. Similarly, when you start seeing the white film over your lip liners then, it is the time to discard them. The white film shows the expiration of the lip liner and must not be used further.
