How are you doing today? I am back to share a product from one of my favorite brands, Bite Beauty. After their huge success with High Pigment Pencils, they launched these Matte Crème Lip Crayons that are, again, intensely pigmented. But, they have wearable color options this time. However, I like their previous High Pigment Pencils more than these for few reasons. I mean, these are not very long lasting and often feel tricky on my normal-dry lips. Anyway, read on more about Bite Beauty Tatin Matte Crème Lip Crayon today!
What it is:
A collection of lip crayons featuring twelve timeless matte shades with superior hydration.
What it does:
BITE’s latest breakthrough formula boasts a collection of beautiful nudes, striking reds and deep burgundies with a matte yet moist texture. The secret is the moisture-locking power of orange peel wax along with the antioxidant properties of resveratrol. The colors are water-resistent, and long wearing.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
$24 for 0.05 Oz (1.56 g), price excludes shipping and taxes
My Experience with Bite Beauty Tatin Matte Crème Lip Crayon:
The lip crayon comes in as usual grey retractable pen packaging while the retractable upper half of packaging coincides with shade inside. It does have a faint, synthetic smell which is not overpowering, thankfully. Overall, I find it quite convenient & travel friendly.
The shade ‘Tatin’ is described as rosy pink and I did find it a warm rosy pink with subtle yellow undertones. It does seem tricky for certain skin tones, though I find it suitable for my pale skin tone. There are times when it tends to make me look tad darker, but I still love it and wear it more often these days. It pairs up so well with my plum and pink dresses. I find it pretty similar to my previous Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil – Corvina though the previous shade is tad bit brighter than this Tatin.
Moreover, Tatin is more wearable than Corvina on my skin tone. I mean, if I had to make a choice between both, I would pick Tatin up for being more wearable and compatible with my skin tone. However, I love the texture & finish of High Pigment Pencils more.
Yes gals, the texture of these Matte Crème Lip Crayons is slightly tugging and I am sure it will accentuate and settle on dry, flaky lips. I feel the texture is not very forgiving and tends to settle on my dry lip patches sometimes; though I understand that matte crayons are supposed to be like that. There are times when it settles on my slightly flaky lips like a waxy substance while sometimes it effortlessly blends like second skin which really confuses me.
Ultimately, I believe a well scrubbing and proper moisturizing schedule is a must prior wearing these matte crayons. In fact, every matte lover knows the pain behind the gain! 😛 So, this is no exception and demands well pampered lips every time. But, what disappoints me the most is its staying power; it stays put for good 5-6 hours and does not leave any stain behind. I mean, for a lip crayon which is as pricey as any high end lip pencil, it is really disappointing to get 5-6 hours of wear time plus the tricky finish.
It may not survive a heavy meal and fade off completely after one heavy meal. It does transfer with every water/tea break which might make it fade it a bit further. However, it is an intensely pigmented crayon and gives me full color pay off with glossy sheen with just 1-2 swipes. But, it may look cakey or flaky upon multiple swipes. There is no doubt that this light, warm rosy pink shade is suitable for every beauty even with light/deep pigmented lips.
I would recommend these crayons to ladies who are more into subtle, light shades of pink and peaches since these matte crème lip crayons are available in variety of summery, peachy – pink shade unlike high pigment pencils. I don’t think I will try them again since I am more into deeper, reds, wintery shades and for occasional wear, I have plenty of lighter shades to finish off first.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Bite Beauty Tatin Matte Crème Lip Crayon:
• An intensely pigmented yet lightweight rosy pink matte crème lip crayon
• Infused with the goodness of food grade colors & resveratrol etc
• It glides easily on well scrubbed, soft lips
• It does not settle into lip lines or corner of the lips provided we keep our lips well exfoliated and moisturised
• It stays put for decent 5-6 hours
• The shade is pretty wearable for all skin tones
• It does not dry out the lips, but then it does not moisturise either
• Convenient, retractable and travel friendly packaging
Cons of Bite Beauty Tatin Matte Crème Lip Crayon:
• The finish tends to look flaky and settle on dry lips sometimes
• Staying power could have been better
• It is tricky for dry lips
• It does seem pricey for features it delivers
Well, I find that L’Oreal Le Matte range works much better than these crayons though L’Oreal has only five shades to offer. But, if we are lucky enough you can shade similar shade at lesser price. I would anytime prefer L’oreal Le Matte range over this.
