The lipstick that I am sharing with you today I believe is already a celebrated one, as another lipstick addict friend of mine suggested this to me and said “Coral Reef, you must get that.” I don’t know what I was doing in life, let me put it like this, “one night stands, flings and short terms relationships,” but now, “I have found someone. :P” I don’t know what was I doing without Chambor Powder Matte lipsticks, particularly this one, “Coral Reef!” All this while, I shouted from the top of my roof about my love for matte and cream lipsticks and I did not own this one ? tsk tsk!
The Chambor packing is so significant of how matte the lipstick is; the cover is totally matte. The shape of the bullet is not to my liking though, but still reminds me of high-end Lancome lipsticks. Sometimes the packing can look real boring. But see how pretty and shiny the lippy looks like, almost like plastic.
The color is out of this world and I am short of words to define the color. Its a coral, peachy pink, sometimes carrot plus pink, sometimes a little brick. I really can’t point my finger at that.
The texture of this one is super smooth, soft and pigmented, nothing falls short. When you swipe the color, such a thick pigmented color comes off, like almost a liquid lip color you would. This would cover the most pigmented lips as well.
There are some drawbacks I would like to point out:
- The texture is so thick that two layers can be drying.
- The lipstick can be a little heavy, so sheer lipstick lovers can avoid this.
- The lipstick goes absolute matte, something which everyone wouldn’t like to carry, mix and match with a gloss or balm.
- Now this one is a put off, this smells like agarbatti to me, but thankfully, the smell subsides in a few minutes of application.
- Go easy with this pigmented lipstick if you want to avoid dry lips or a heavy lip feeling.
- Since the texture is so thick, this can last easily for up to four hours, but I must say two layers can be a little too much as you would then see some accumulation on the lower lip over the day.
Remember, my Rose Fantasie bought online wasn’t soft enough, in fact it was hard, but the others, my friend sent in Brique Rose and these that I bought at the counter are way too soft, but these don’t sweat or melt either, I don’t mind storing them outside.
The shade would be flattering to fair-skinned girls I think and for me, it really brightens the face up. Now, this is another trouble with this one. The other lipsticks I have are being ignored due to this purchase and now I always end up wearing this flattering color. One more thing I love about this is that due to its texture, I find it very easy to shape lips with this one, try it to know!
The super soft and smooth texture, the color and the thick matte pigmented finish is out of this world. This can convert you to a lipstick girl from a gloss lover I think. The smell can be done away with though. I am going to review many more from this line, so matte lipstick lovers rejoice!
